Of the three I'd have to say Charmelion is THE fave. Charmander is cute but lacks the commanding look/power and Charazard is just the big bubba Char dude.

Scyther was always a BAMF and just a cool pokeman in general. I LOVE Caterpie although Metapod annoy me. (Metapod used harden!) I always thought Sandshrews were cute as well, if a bit plain. For some reason, Omanyte makes me laugh whenever I see one, and Tangula's are pretty much win.
I basically adore all of the first generation ones, some of the newer ones look like the design team spent two minutes designing them or were running out of ideas, but there are a few that I think are cute/original/bamf.

You can also get one for the current generation by beating Pokemon Battle Revolution and transferring it over. You can get up to ten of them that way, IIRC.

Red, Blue, Yellow, and Japanese Green were totally my favourite games.

My favorites is Tyranitar (C'mon, it's an armored huge dinosaur with spikes on it's back.), Torterra (A galapagos turtle with a tree on it's shell? Hell yes.) and Salamence (It's a frikkin' dragon. 'nuff said.)
