One of my favorite games I have to say. The characters you could say were interesting and actually had emotions. The soundtrack for the GBA version left me blown back. (ELiwood's theme, uh..the music when you first meet Rath., Unshakable motavation and the music that plays when you promote a character are some of my favorite. Discuss, hate it, love it, kind of hate it, kind of love it.

Fire Emblem is one of my favorite GBA games too! The best of the three released stateside so far, in my opinion. Sacred Stones was just WAY too easy, and Path of Radiance's magic system annoyed me; the fact that mages could use any kind of magic kind of undermined the magic triangle. In FE, you need at least one character for each kind of magic, but in PoR, you only need one mage to cover all the bases. Unbalanced much?

The soundtrack was one of the better ones I've heard. The songs just felt inspiring. The story wasn't shabby either. Sonia has got to be one of the better villains I've seen. Her soul is black and devoid of warmth (best line ever).

What I liked most about Fire Emblem was the unforgiving difficulty. Making a single miscalculation will almost always result in a character death. It took my forever to beat the game with all characters surviving. In addition, experience is an extremely valuable commodity. Really, the only strategy that makes sense is to have your final party chosen from the get go, and don't let anyone else any combat. The arenas add an interesting twist to this dynamic, giving the opportunity to gain experience (you're lying to yourself if you go for the money), but at a high risk of losing the character.

I've played most FE games that are out though never finished one other than Rekka no Ken (the one with no subtitle in English). I also can't stand people saying "FE4" or "FE6" as I never know which one is which, as some count the remake, most count Gaiden, and there's no consistency if Sacred Stones or the GC Title is counted first as one was announced first and the other was released first.

I generally dislike the system. Shops on the battlefield alone is pretty stupid, but the combination of very high randomization of the battles and permament death plus no way to save just ruins all the fun for me. When I attack a boss with 1 HP using an axe with my best swordsman at full health and a killsword, and the boss then evades and counters with a critical, killing my character forcing me to restart that's not difficult, it's plain stupid.

Other than that, the stories feel a bit lacking, it's really always the same "Prince Nameless saves Magical Kingdom" kind of formular, though nothing really bad. Especially in Sacred Stones, a great deal of the characters seems to have rather thin, exchangable personalities as well.

Despite all this, I some always return to the series when a new game is released Larry

OH!

Well, actually, it's not a actual GBA game, I am playing it on the emulator. It's a fan translation of course.

Ya fire Emblem works like that, you must know what to do on the battle field, also before you ttack, take al ook at the terrain and stats of who you are versing,

the fire dragon was a bit too easy...then again I was using a combination of Pent and Athos

Pent heal

Athos attack
wash rinse and slay.

\Ha good olde Canas, the only shaman in the whole game

something I found that interesting me

Marcus was better in Eliwood's story and in HEcotr's story, he was like a old man who could''t figt

but Oswin was beastly with his defence unlike WAllace who was only good in LYn's story..

I really liked using Canas, when he's a level 20/10 Druid, he just owns everyone with his dark magic! XD

Marcus sucks, he's an exp thief... The End

All good characters from FE7:

Hector
Florina
Oswin
Canas
Dart
Pent
Karel
Jaffar
Nino

I think Lyn is the weakest of all lords, yeah she can use a bow... But Eliwood can use a lance AND have horseback movement... But I think Lyn's critical rate makes up for it... (Ah lol)

Not to ruin your fun but there is already a Fire Emblem topic.

You should really search for topics (at search command ^) than create new ones..

Renault actually sucks, he's the worst magic user in the game though his Fortify staff is cool.

I ADORE Fire Emblem. I love the strategy involved. I love how you can't just go out and send your characters in random places and get them killed and revive them no problem, you have to actually use strategy and be careful with every move. But for people complaining about how easy it is to lose a character: There are plenty more. In FE8 and 9 especially, the characters are all useful. You can replace a lost character no problem. I personally always restart to keep them alive, but you don't HAVE to. The reason I love FE is because the characters seem REAL. They're people, you have to protect them or they will die, they have feelings and personalities and you get attached to them. I always feel awful when I let one of them die and restart right away, that's how real they seem.

The storylines are very weak, however. The support system and characters make up for it though. The plot overall is dull, but the individual characters, their relationships and backgrounds and struggles, in FE7 especially are beautiful and creative. I'm dreading FE10 because they MURDERED the support system. The characters are going to get no development and the plot is going to be awful because the supports are literally two lines long and are very impersonal. I'll still love the gameplay, I'll still be obsessed with getting the strategy just right, but the plot is going to be very severely lacking to me and I won't love most of the characters like I did in 7 and 8.

The graphics and music are nice as well, although they don't stick out at me much. The characters and strategy are what sell this game to me. I really can't express how much I adore them.

As for favorite characters: (Personality wise, not value wise, as they're all usable)

FE7: Nino, Lucius, Raven, Florina, Hector (although I loved most of the FE7 characters, really)
FE8: Lute, Amelia, Niemi, Artur, Joshua
FE9: Soren, Jill, Lucia, Shinon, Ranulf

I've played and beaten all the US FE games and I really enjoyed them. Its funny that one of the things Ryu-Kun complained about (shopping in battles) is addressed in FE9 for the Gcube, and it made the game really easy :/

FE9 was really easy too, I actually thought it was a bit easier then FE8. Yes FE8 you could be level 20/20 after like stage 5 if you were patient enough but if you actually played it like a real FE it's not that easy.

Try playing the last chapter on hard mode where you don't get one of the three kings until the next part of the Chapter,Ashard Moves and can kill most of your people in one hit, and when you beat him he gets 20HP and 5/10 STR,and the enemy's have Master skills and are way stronger. :welly:

I did not find the final battle in FE9 that difficult on hard mode, maxed stats Ike (which is really easy to have) with his special sword>Final boss.

Hmm...I see.

I've heard that the bonus map "A strange Turn" or something like that is really hard...but thats not ingame and I haven't played all the way in my Hard mode file...Damn Black Knight.

Now thinking about it, the game is hard in chapters 2-17...then after Ike turns into a Lord the game is pretty easy.

Fire Emblem is a turn based strategy. It's a really good game, unfortunaly I don't have a gamecube so I've never had the honor to play Fire Emblem on any other console other then GBA.

I'm just really hoping they'll make one for DS.
