I was 17 when I joined this forum. During this time I participated in a thread that made light of sexual assault and event making jokes about it. I didn't think much of it at the time other than portraying a villain. I am older, looking back see how unacceptable & disgusting. I removed the comments because I do not wish to condone this behaviour. But of course fragments remain. I can only apologise for any hurt of distress caused.

I think he would act just like he does in court.

All of the above.

He obviously adheres to a scedule that no matter WHAT happens he will NEVER. EVER. Be able to miss ANYTHING. Because he rules.

If he DOES do leisure activities, I would imagine something like chess, solitaire, reading, et cetera.

He probably wears a cravat with his pajamas.

When did Franziska refer to him as "Papa?" I would have expected her to be more formal, and I don't remember her saying it.

For some reason, I feel like part of the reason Franziska grew close to Miles is because her father (and probably mother and sister as well) didn't pay her much attention.

Sweet Christmas, I LOVE this thread.
Yeah, it's hard imagining what goes inside the guy's head outside of court.

I'm convinced that, back in the seventies, he had to go on an undercover investigation with Gant. All he did was wear casual contemporary clothes and a pair of sunglasses, and nobody picked up on it, even his fangirls. Because von Karma was totally smoking hot when he was younger.

Random-Prophet, is that you? Because I really like that idea.

I expect Manfred to be Dr. Evil-ish outside of court.

I like the idea of Manfred trying to date his future-wife in his younger days because it leads to so many amusing images. Ace-attorney romantic-comedy spinoff, anyone?

I get the impression that he ignored his children except to educate/lecture them. Franziska and Miles became close because they were both lonely and emotionally neglected.

Manfred probably also liked to remind Miles that he wasn't a real von Karma.

Trying to sum up together of what I do know in my life, including my own father, he could actually be a bit different than he is at work in his own spare time.

I guess the best way is to really talk about my own father, who was a strict Sicilin man who really intimidated everyone at his workplace, and always had the house clean and orderly. (It's probably my father's fault I happen to really like Manfred von Karma as well >_< ) However, I got to see how he was when business wasn't happening.
Turning from the "omg that man is going to KILL ME" to someone who makes jokes and knows how to have fun without being uncouthe.

I think VK would be a little more uptight than my father was, no water gun fights or racing on bicycles to the gas station, but I think he would know how to relax. Reading a book, listening to music, watch old shows on TV and mostly reviewing his days work would probably be a more likely thing, but I can imagine him perhaps once in a rare while being able to let lose a bit and enjoy the outside.

Yes, his area around him would most likely be clean. His OCD about time schedual in game shows he could possibly have a schedual in his own life to adhere to.

For him being a father? Seems like a distant man really. He gives off that he probably just has in mind he brings home the money, but isn't going to be like a mother and dote, that's the woman's job. But I would believe he wouldn't downright neglect any of his children, nor actually even abuse them as people seem fit. They would probably grow up strict and not be allowed to get dirty and such whilst the other children their age are muddin' up in the schoolyard.

Most of his behavior within game was only seen during the trial. We have to remember he was pressured with a ghost of his crime lingering over him. He was in a desperate situation to where the rest of his life was completely on the line. Thus, this would change how he normally would be, and possibly just made his personality more extreme.
If one was also in his situation, and life was on line, I believe that desperate messures, cold-cut attitude and other extremes not normally thought to do would be done.

So yeah, in-game isn't the best way to think of how he would be ALL the time.

For all we know, he could possibly be a really pleasent man before he got caught up in his career, and then into his crime.

This topic is hilarious :edgy:

For some reason I can imagine him tasering his children when they're 'imperfect' ;_; (what is wrong with my mind...)

:franny: *gets 99% on exam* Oh shit.
:karma: *whips out taser*
:franny: ;_;

(sorry, I know I shouldn't make fun of child abuse *sniffle*)

Then again...

:karma: Happy birthday! *gives whip*
:franny: >:D *whips :karma: *
:karma: :headbang:
