The article says that Makoto (affectionately dubbed Hugo) is a High Prosecutor like Edgeworth. I think it also says or it has been said on the forum that Gumshoe will have to go away sometimes and this is where Key Girl will show up to help you.

Unfortunately, I think she is his assistant. I never really liked having a teen-girl sidekick. Maya was an okay character, but I absolutely hated Ema Skye. >>
Anyways, I was really hoping for Gumshoe being his assistant. I love Gumshoe. But no, Edgeworth has to have some girl following him instead.
I hope they focus more on the relationship between Gumshoe and Edgeworth. I always found it interesting...

Anyways personally I'm actually really liking her design, much more than Maya and Trucy.
Maya's outfit got old fast and never really seemed interesting and Trucy's is ok but I think Mikumo's outfit (and I think and hope her personality too) has a really cool spunk to it, but that's just me <:

It's a trope of the series. They probably worry what fans would say if they don't have a teenage girl sidekick. At least they made her 17 instead of 15 like Trucy. They could have done better and make her 18 or 19, but they probably don't want her to be too close in age to Franziska.

He does seem like the type to go it alone, but I think the game wouldn't be as fun if he were alone. You never know, he may be the type that likes to bounce ideas off of someone. Even if that someone is a bumbling detective or a young girl.

Really? The way people were saying that Mikumo shows up when Gumshoe isn't there made me think that she was going to be a replacement assistant. A bit like on the odd occasions when Nick has had someone different following him around.

Okay, it's official, I have the worst memory in the world. XD Now I remember: Edgeworth wasn't very happy about Gumshoe following him around. I remember him saying something like "That must be why they call him Gumshoe--like gum on your shoe, he's hard to get rid of."Poor Gumshoe.

I do hope we get to see more Gumshoe in this game then we did in Phoenix Wright games though...

You have a point. Gumshoe only spilled the beans, so to speak, around Wright when he wasn't suppose to him. I'm sure Edgeworth will warn him not to talk to Mikumo or Makoto. That's when Mikumo will say, "Well Sir Prosecutor, I didn't have to steal the truth from the dear Detective, he willingly gave it away when I smiled at him." (Just guessing at a speech pattern here, since we don't know how she'll talk yet. I see her as being coy, but I could be wrong.)
