I may have simply misunderstood how close they were my first time through JFA. I sort of got the impression that they were always very aware that they were not related by blood (perhaps stressed by Manfred?), so that created some distance between them. Also, they began prosecuting around the same time in different countries, so they were apart for awhile. Edgeworth would most likely have visited, but they would have been spending much less time together. By the start of the series, Franziska would have changed a lot-physically and mentally. Growing up might have changed their feeling for each other.
Something about their interactions just seemed different than the adopted-sibling relationships in other games I've played.
Really, this is more me trying to make sense of liking a pairing I normally wouldn't than a real argument in favor of it, but somebody said nobody has ever provided one...

The personalities. The tragic background. The hotness. And all that!
I have to admit that I'm an absolute sucker for multilayer relationships like this one. The mixture between flirty spicy love, interesting characters and an awesome backstory makes this pairing and I totally love it.
It's even hard to explain well WHY exactly I love this pairing so much, but I do, I really really really do. It just matches my preferences so well!
So if you want to call me a fangirl for something, call me for this pair of hot, tragic love.

I see this as a very tenderly developing relationship, which gives it a whole new feeling to it, especially if you compare it to my #1 pairing.
Here, both partners are more cute and shy about their feelings and have more of a brother/sister connection than a lover one.
In my book, it starts out as a one-sided thing (Phoenix has a crush on Maya), but with time and little steps towards each other, it is a very sweet and adorable couple I like a lot.
/ I hated Maggey for being so mean in T&T, but I still think that they would make an awesome couple.
And come on, who couldn't find Gumshoe totally cute with his big crush on Maggey?
All his clumsyness and shy attitude drags me into this thing. I support Gumshoe's attempts getting something on with Maggey and I really think it would be so adorable if these two got together. A pairing for the fuzzyness!
