If no one has heard of this, then I think I may cry. :matt:
This is my utmost favourite manga in the history of ever, and I was sad that it only lasted 10 volumes.
(Ever sadder at the fact that the OVA only had 4 episodes and that they left out almost all the humor. >>)
The title sounds cheesy as heck, but the manga itself is just... *Dies*
I love eet.
My favourite character being Goat man Tetsu. :grey:
(And everyone loves Count D....)

The art style is a bit of an aqquired taste, and I disliked it at first, but eventually started to get used to it. The costumes are so DETAILED, and I'm a sucker for that sort of thing. :yogi:
Also, the animal designs are made of win and awesome.
The plot is so bloody creative and mysterious, and even at the end there are still so many things you are left to figure out for yourself...
Such an awesome manga, but so very underrated. :shoe:

Oh, I LOVE IT.

Too bad I only read the first 3 volumes of the manga. (I'm going to read all of them eventually!) I saw all 4 episodes, though. XD The series is pretty interesting, the art style seems old and odd, yet likable.

Leon is pretty funny, but Count D is hilarious.

Count D is amazing with all his little sweet obsessed quirks~

PSoH is WONDERFUUUL~

I've read, I think, all manga volumes except 7 and 10. God, they're brilliant. I love the style so much; I can spend ages just looking at the awesome detail on one of D's chengosams or a particularly large butterfly, bird or whatever.

The characters are wonderful; I absolutely love D and Leon as a couple because nearly every interaction between the two makes me giggle. Leon's so brash, rude and untidy, while D's so calm, polite and clean. They couldn't be more opposite if they tried, but there's something about them that just works.

I love the premise; in each episode, who is the evil person? D, for giving them the animal? The animal itself? The person for not fulfilling the contract? Ooh, it's wonderful.
Even the graphic death scenes are so... graceful? I don't know, but it's just such a treat for the eyes, anything I try reading directly after PSoH just seems so plain.

I love the animals-humans. Matsuri Akino is an abolsute genius in how s/he can effortlessly make an animal into a human and yet it's so obviously the same creature.

My favorite character? I love D and Leon, but... Q-Chan is awesome :D

Dannichu, you win at life.
Honestly, this is the first forum I've been to where PSoH fans are lurking...

I don't actually have volume 7 yet, but I've read it. >>
The last volume had me blubbering like a baby though, gawd.

And Q-chan is awesome. WHAT A TWIST THAT IS~ :D
For the record, I see Count D as the sort of voice of reason for the series...

^_^

Yeah, it is a horrendously underrated series. I mean, does Naruto have people getting eaten by thier daughter-rabbit? Does FMA have the spirits of the dead passing on thier memories to thier grandchildren like butterflies? I think not. I mean, it even has major eye-candy and mega yaoi potential. It should be more popular.

Though I'm kind of grateful it's not huge... I think I'd cry if I saw the PSoH section of FF.net get polluted with the crap that haunts the "big" anime sections.

I've read about the Q-Chan twist. Oh yes. I really want to read volume 10 so badly, but I can't find it anywhere. I might end up just getting it off Amazon or something because UK bookshops are stupid. D:

I'm gonna need to poke Zizzo. She's a bigger PSoH fan than I am... and is the one responsible to introducing me to the series. :D

Have you seen the OAV? What did you make of it?

Oh Gawd, and don't forget shapeshifting punk foxes. XD
(SO MUCH COOLER THAN THE NARUTO FOX!)
And yes, UK bookstores suck, I get my PSoH from borders... They always seemed to have the next volume in when I needed it, but only the one I needed... (Excluding 7) Creepy. Oo

The OVA was a letdown I think. It just didn't seem to have the same charm as the manga, though it was very ambient, and I hated D's voice. Though I did absolutely adore it when he had that little fit over the mousse. XD
I wish it could have been longer... And had more of the dark humor in it.
(I was also annoyed that they didn't do the chapters in order... I wanted to see the bird damnit!)

I haven't seen it, but I couldn't imagine them pulling off an animation true to the manga unless they had a budget of $90443 zillion or something... because I want detail, dammit!

Was D's voice that bad? I agree that there's a voice that D should have... maybe a cross between Japanese Vincent from Advent Children and Yuki from Fruits Basket?

I love D's obsession with sweets. I always think it's hilarious when really serious characters have one wekaness that sends them into fits of <3. Like Raine and ruins :D I especially love it in the manga when D will go from being incredibly detailed and beautiful to all chibi and SD-ful after Leon gets hom something sugary. :D

In the anime, he pulls this '><' face and his fingers twitch madly... It's so cute. XD And he makes this weird 'NYAGH' noise...
It isn't THAT bad per say, but I think it doesn't totally suit him.

The animation is actually very good, they got D's costumes SPOT ON.
You can watch it on youtube. :D

Pet Shop of Horrors is a brilliant series. Too short, though. And whatever happened to Leon and D at the very end? You never do find out...
Play the text adventure where you control the action, like this user:
At any rate, this situation keeps getting weirder all the time. What will you do now?

Eeeee~ Petshop of Horrors is the only manga I'm trying to get the entire series and artbook of. It's just so wonderful, with gorgeous art and content that makes you actually think instead of 'Hey, check out this shiny sparkly move of DEATH I can use :D :D :D'

I really didn't like the OAV, it didn't do the series justice. The voice acting was sub-par, the animation...jerked strangely and quite often went out of sync with the audio.

Cute manga. Never saw the anime though.

Spoiler:
The German Doberman turns me on when he is in human form for so some odd reason.

If there's any manga I would admit to liking so much I would punch someone in the face if they hadn't heard about it, it would be this one.

I loved the Lapsa Apso chapter. It was so refreshingly beautiful.

And one of the few chapters that did not end in a grotesque, if justifiable, death.

I loved Dessert, where Tetsu makes his grand appearance of gaaaaaay with the Count <3 I just find it hilarious that Count D would so readily take Tetsu in, mere hours after he tried to eat him, haha.

Yay! Dessert is one of my favourite chapters. AND NOT COS OF THE GAY, HONEST.
Oh, I've just realised I've never said how much I love this series. Alright, on a scale of 1 to I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT LOADS. Even if I have only managed to get my hands on 1,2,3,4,5 & 6. Amazon's calling me once I have the cash. XD
Actually it was this thread that got me started on it. :gant:
Yes! Thank you Zizzo! I've heard of Shin Pet Shop Of Horrors but I didn't know that there might be English scanlations of it anywhere! WEEEEEEEEE!
