That sucks. I really liked his books. I haven't read any in a while, but he could tell a story and keep you interested in it. Also, I always felt like I learned something from reading his books. They may have been science fiction, but they always seemed well researched.

I always thought his books were much better than the adaptations. The ending of Congo was much better in the novel.

Michael Crichton was a GREAT author. I read many of his books [The Andromeda Strain comes to mind]. My personal favorite was The Andromeda Strain.

Movie Jurassic Park was OK, but it SUCKED in comparison to the book.

Michael Crichton was ok, as far as thriller writers go. He certainly had some unique and interesting ideas. Even if some of them were harmful (like his stance on global warming in State of Fear).

Still, I'm sad to hear he's gone. I was quite surprised, because he was NOT that old. (Heck he was less than 10 years older than my father. :payne:

)

That's really too bad. I read a lot of his books (though mostly earlier ones) and Jurassic Park was a pretty big obsession to me back in 6th grade!

But then there was that nonsense where he wrote someone who had been critical of him into his next book as a child molester, and that's...that's just not cool. I mean, it's pretty funny, but damn unprofessional.

I must have not read that book, and I don't recall this incident.

I read a lot of Michael Crichton when I was in 10th and 11th grade. In fact, most of his books I read during Band practice (in school and some in the after school pratices). That's what happens when your in the worst band in the school and all your music is really freaking easy.

I can not say that I have read his books (simply due to not being able to find them during the time where I as more of a heavy reader then I am now) or seen the Jurassic Park movies; but I do know we have lost a supposedly great man. Supposedly is chosen because I am basing my opinion off very few things and hence my opinion may not be entirely correct; seeing as it is not truly my opinion.
