FULL STOP. There will be no sharing of emulators or roms on this forum.
The encylopedia was only sold with the limited edition for GS4 (as far as I know) so if you find a copy of it separate somewhere, it's probably used.

You see, ROM dumps of games ARE illegal material, and I back you up one hundred percent in banning anyone who discusses those here. However, emulators, in, of and by themselves, are entirely legal, because they are, in the strictest of senses, a "proof of concept" piece of software that demonstrates how far software can simulate the behavior of a piece of hardware.

I know I'm just nitpicking here, but as a programmer, I've found myself dealing with this kind of question and argument before. I also understand that in most cases, talking about emulators almost always unfortunately ends up drifting to talking about ROM dumps, and based on this habit I completely understand where you're coming from, but I just wanted to clear that little point. Still friends? =p

Consoles, like all modern electronic devices, are just small computers with a preinstalled operating system (OS) that works with certain software (the actual games). The games themselves, since you cannot modify them, are stored in small read-only chips called ROMs. (Your saved games are stored somewhere else entirely.) The so-called ROM dumps you find on the internet are basically copies of the data contained in the ROM chips of the actual cartridges.
By reverse-engineering and analyzing the data contained in these ROM dumps, and reverse-engineering dumps of the console's operating system as well (which is also stored in a small chip inside the console), programmers can attempt to understand how this console OS works, and attempt to replicate the stuff it does with the console hardware through pure code. The closest simile would be equating this concept with Nintendogs: the game is TRYING to replicate what the REAL thing does through pure programming.

It's set up like an Encyclopedia, with different areticles for characters, places, pieces of evidence, etc. It also includes all the music tracks (GBA versions), all the cutscene images, and all the sprites. Unfortunately, the case descriptions only describe the beginnings of each case (without many major spoilers anywhere) and there isn't any additional information or trivia that's not already in the games. That's why it was never translated for this site.
