I wonder though... will he be a part of the case or is he just in the background of the scene? Since we haven't really seen how the gameplay works yet, it's hard to tell whether you can interact with every random character around. After all, that airport picture seems to have a lot of people in it. Somehow I doubt that you can talk to all of them.
Also, Lunaria, Manella has two "L's".

But seeing as how GK has this pseudo 2D Investigation scene thing, I'm assumng a great deal of time will be spended walking up to people and talking with them. Now, Sal may be in the background, but somehow i think he won't go unnoticed.

I think someone said this earlier in the new Famitsu topic. That you have to go around and look at everything and talk to everyone to get clues. I could have misinterpreted though.

Perhaps it'll be more of the sort of thing that you can talk to anyone you see, but some who aren't important only yield one conversation that would be repeated if you talk to them again?
I dunno, this is just speculation. As I said before we've only gotten the vaguest of descriptions of how the gameplay actually works, so we'll just have to wait and see.

And the Gumshoe pose is hilarious. You can clearly see that he's trying to dodge Franziska's whip there - So the whipping doesn't stop in this game AND it finally gets a full animation! HOORAY!

Heh, now what'd really be great is if that kid he's with is a slightly older Cody Hackins who's runaway and forcefully adopted himself to Sal Manella. (eeew)
Although I believe Cody was one of the recurring cast members seen briefly as a silhouette in one of the trailers, so we may actually see him at some point too.
