My copy of Apollo Justice came in the mail today, and as excited as I was to receive it, I find myself having a hard time pressing the new game button. This is just how pathetically (and unhealthily) attached I became to my PW people..I'm afraid it just won't be the same..Not sure why I'm posting this, except maybe to discover that I'm not the only one insanely attached to the characters of the PW world.. :yuusaku:

Oh I feel ya~ I refused to play through the third case because of my love of Daian, but well, the show must go on, ja? A true die-hard fan won't let that get in the way of a good gaming experience, so don't hold back! You KNOW you're gonna enjoy it, so why wait?

I understand...in a way.

Because I still haven't played it. As protest. I feel like by purchasing it, giving Capcom my hard earned money, I'm supporting their decision to...to...

*cries* I hate AJ. Please don't reply to this saying 'you can't hate it if you've never played it'. I've been told that a million times. And I'm probably being immature. But still. Get rid of everyone? Seriously? Why?

End rant.

I do, however, have to agree..why get rid of everyone??

Sure thing, pal. And despite my whining, I can already see that I'm going to love these characters, too. Heh. I guess I'm a tad dramatic, what can I say? :edgy:

I purchased AP on a whim.

It was a sad sad mistake.

I wish it was all 100% original; seeing how much of an arse that Phoenix became just disheartened me.... and his overall attitude in 4-2 just almost made me quit outright...

I think the only things that kept me playing were the Gavin's

The Klaviers? I believe there's only one ;)

Anyways, I had a hard time at first too, knowing what Phoenix had become. Phoenix is still character assassinated but the game was decent

Now now, must we be so condescending of the new gen GS? Every series has its good and bad points, but don't turn her off the game before she even plays, ja?

And frankly, I grew fastly irritated with Klavier, but hey, the game as a whole was pretty alright.

Well, it was mostly the huge 180 of Phoenix's personality that turned me off.

I liked all of case 4 and stuff, and Kristoph was awesome. But just, something about the series as a whole was just.... iffy....

It's like eating a hershey stick, you liked it, but you wanted more.

I actually think BigFatJerk!Phoenix is kinda sexy--its like, he's more than butterflies and angry pointing fingers, it gave him a new dimension.

And I'd say it was more like Chinese food--you get full, but it wasn't filling.

I'm not really sure how I'll feel about Phoenix's major change, yes I sound like the Canadian judge, so far it's been interesting.. but anyway, my question for the moment is..what on earth happened to Payne's hair?

I agree..it did make me sad initially...but I grew to accept and like it due to 4-4

On the wanting more part...I totally agree..4-4 is almost the only case worth playing with
Spoiler:
4-1 as a background for it

It's a pity they did'nt put an effort into it being the new DS entry for ace attorney...it had so much more potential..and they could have put two or three more cameos for us at least..that'd make me happy y'know..

Well, I like AJ mainly because of the music. The game itself isn't bad at all, but since PW trilogy (especially T&T) was so gorgeous, I was a little disappointed in AJ. :yuusaku: But I still enjoyed it :maya:

Yeah, you're right Mechashadow. They really should cater to our whims instead of taking risks and writing a new story. We really should bring Nick back, turn him sugary sweet and not have him learn anything at all! /sarcasm

Writing a new story was a good idea, it just seemed to transition so fast. I mean, you're in TaT and you're all "yey everything is great for Phoenix and he has all these friends blah blah blah"

To Phoenix being out of a job, and no mention of his friends or rivals. I doubt that Larry, Maya, and even Edgeworth just stood around with their hands in their pockets when Phoenix was set up in that trial.

I've just completed AJ and I really liked it. At first I wasn't too keen on it but after case 2 I started getting into it.
Phoenix's personality change is completely understandable and its not as if all the characters have been forgotten.

Phoenix basically dominates the first case so you should start playing it just to see more Phoenix. Hopefully that first case will get you more used to Apollo too and make you want to play as him.

This is basically what's happened. And so far I'm not disappointed. I do kind of wish, though, that we could have seen the improved art or graphics or whatever you want to call them in Phoenix's series.

It was lovely. Apollo didn't get a whole lot of character development, but that is my one and only complaint. He'll get plenty in GS5 is my guess. Everything else was super duper awesome times a million.

Phoenix basically dominates the first case.
Which SUCKS because you're not playing as him. Imagine if this shit happened in the original games.

Phoenix: ...I can prove it. I'm going to bring your magnificent vengeance to fruition, JUST like you want it!!!
Godot: Hah...a fighter to the end. But can you prove it? Have you got even one piece of evidence?
Phoenix: One piece of evidence is all I need.
Godot: G-Give me a break! You've got nothing! So what's this "one piece of evidence" you're talking abo-*HOLD IT!*
Maya: Wait a sec! I think I've got it!
Spoiler: 3-5
It's his mask, right? His mask flew off, and the killer hit his eyes!

Godot: ...
Phoenix: ...
Judge: I...guess that makes sense.
Phoenix: ............%$#* you, Maya.

And let's not forget the game is continually cycling back the minimum age thing. One of the big reasons I liked Wright was it didn't enforce standard Japanese 15-year-old-heroes law. Even a guy in his twenties can be cool. AND can drink alcohol.
I'm gone for so long, and the colors got all psychedelic! Woohoo!

Apollo's only two years younger than Phoenix was in the first game. He's 22.

Anyways, I liked Apollo Justice. Apollo himself is a really fun character and he's not the only one. I'm sure we'll meet some of the old familiar faces again at some point, but this is a new game with new experiences and it's pretty darn fun.

Myself, I got AJ before the other PW games. I think that the game is good, given two purposes it serves:
1. To serve as the base for a great, extremely awesome GS5.
2. To be not great, but fun. And funny. You know GS1-3 were so deep and awesome, that we needed a break from greatness.

To kind of sum it, AJ is just the start. Or I should say, the re-start.

First I hated 4-1, and 4-2 (especially the first day) was also a disappointment.
4-3, however, made me forget about Phoenix's backstory (and believe me, I was really curious), that's how awesome that case is!
And 4-4 is fantastic, not as good as other cases, but it finally made me feel okay about the whole GS4 thing, and it inspired me, too.

But even objectively speaking on the 2nd walkthrough, 4-1 is still the least good case in the series, and 4-2 is still one of the weakest cases.
4-4 is my 6th fav case, 4-3 is my 7th.

I can't believe that there are still people avoiding AJ, claiming to hate it, and making themselves hate it when they're finally forced to play. I was suspicious about Phoenix's transformation, too, but even if he's become a little enigmatic for the sake of having his plan pull through, at the heart of it is a desire to let the truth come out and have the justice system be fair, just like always. He's changed a bit, but overall, he is still in character. Finally, he has so much spotlight in the game that it's impossible to call his arc "swept away" at all - I've even heard a lot of complaints that he stole the game away from Apollo and should have been written out! I personally wouldn't go that far, but what happened to him is completely exaggerated by people who haven't played the game.
