Well, I can learn how to play a simple melody by ear using the piano and guitar. But then again, who can't? In truth, I-I can only sing, and even at that, I'm not even good. Hahaha xD;

Well first, do you have all of your ASIO4ALL drivers installed? If so, then choose an input in the mixer and record in real time.

Double post, but eh, its a new day.

I saw this Squire Trancechorder at the guitar store today and I just HAAAAAAAVe to have it!!!

I am TOTALLY compiling my Christmas list this year and that is TOTALLY on top.

Also, I learned that when playing guitar, always buy coated strings, whether it's electric or acoustic. And I usually do that, but I was rushing yesterday. I just changed the strings to my wide body, but I'm kinda disappointed. A, the pins keep wanting to be retarded on me, which, *FUME FUME* HOW DARE THEY. And B, when practicing with it, it gives a lot of fret, and a lot of what I do behind any guitar is sliding from chord to chord, especially with powerchords.
:< I apparently need to go back to the store for more strings, but I'll play these ones out until they corrode |D

But man guys these cymbals

Istanbuls EFES line. I don't know if I can ever go back to my zildjians wow, I wish I could afford the motherfuckers

I wish I could play the flute, but woodwinds are my most incredible weakness I suck so hard. I can't even get it to make different notes half the time if it'll even blow right

Really? I mean, they are tough at first, but once you memorize which keys to press at what times, it's pretty simple!

Or maybe it's just me... meh.

Also, HOLY CRAP, THAT'S A LOT OF DRUMS... They must cost a fortune!

I press the keys and keep blowing and the sound doesn't even change.

This is how bad I am

I do have a flute though. I'll keep playing with it every now and then and maybe as the years go by I will finally get it.

@Holy Hell: O.O That's a lot of drums! What would you do with all of those?

I play bass and sing. I've been only been playing bass for about 7 or so months, but I've been singing since I was about 4 or 5ish. I used to play clarinet in like, 5th grade. XD And I know how to play the piano, but I'm not very good. ^_^;; It really helps for writing songs, though. That would be so much fun to be in a band, but I don't know any drummers. =/

And Double H, I still challenge you, though I tip my hat mein freund, that's a wicked lookin set--wouldn't mind bangin THOSE babehs :pencil:

AAAAH YES~
And yeah, I mean, try taking the bass out of any song. It's like a sandwich. You've got the guitar and voice for the top piece of bread with all the sesame seeds on it, and then you've got the drums for the bottom piece of bread that holds everything together, but without the bass, all you have is an air sandwich. And those can be okay, but they're never as good as a ham sandwich... yeah, that didn't really make sense. XD

Well yeah I can, but that's kiddie stuff!!

And let me rephrase--I've never taken an INSTRUMENT lesson, but vocal lessons yes.

Best drummer ever, eh Double H? I challenge that :pencil:

Jawsy, I do believe I love you even more now... if that's possible, at least.

Hmm, as for me instrument wise... I played the violin for 2 or 3 years, but kind of fell out of it (that was like 10 years ago). My main instrument is the piano and I absolutely adore it. I'm trying to take up the violin again. I replaced its g-string *snigger* and I tune it up to help my ear, because I also take vocal lessons.
And on the topic of sheet music (I don't mean to sound off or anything) but I've never been able to get why anyone can't read it. >>
It just came so naturally and easy to me that it just seems like something well, natural.
I'm just barely starting to tread into the waters of theory... I've gone without theory for probably... oh... 10 or more years.
I think since I'm so good at sight-reading and with rhythm, my teachers figured I already had a grasp of theory. I don't mean to sound arrogant. x_x

I've always been kind of hard at explaining this... but...
Do you by chance play piano (that'll sort of help me explain if you do)?

Edit:
No... wait, what the heck am I talking 'bout... I can only really read bass and treble (I can be such a moron sometimes). I'm trying to find something on the Internet for you, though.

First, here's the link to the whole page I found. http://www.dolmetsch.com/musictheory14.htm

But, in summary:
Image

The G is the G above middle.
C is middle.
F is the F below middle.

So, if you're going from the treble clef... to the alto:
What would be D on the treble clef becomes middle C and the F below middle C becomes a G.
Does that kind of make sense?

And on a side note: Could anyone explain the C3... C4... etc. thing to me... just how it basically works?

Well, middle C is C4, the C below that is C3, and so on, all the way down to C1. And the C above middle C is C5, the C above that is C6, and so on.

ONE correction. C5 is MIDDLE C, dearest, and as a fun fact, a super fantastic range can range from C1 to C10. On a grand piano, you can barely HEAR C1 and C10--neat stuff!

Aaaaaaaaaah, THIS is why I made this thread: musicians helping other musicians--I love it! :rock'n:

QUOTED. FOR TRUTH.

But yeah, I think I know where you were going, so here's my metaphor at it.

Music is like a pizza.
The different parts are all very important and just as equal as the next. You have the melody--your toppings, the beat, drums included--your dough crust, and the bass--your tomato sauce. Now, I've had pizzas with each of these elements excluded. You don't need tomato sauce to make a pizza, you don't need a lot of toppings to make a pizza, and hell you can have a walking slice now with no dough crust.
But just like music, there's something beautiful that happens when you mix them all together as one divine piece. And frankly, it tastes damn good |D

How's this?

I would kill for that...
Well, maybe I wouldn't...
Which one is the lowest, 1 or 10?
Can I never be pleased with the range I have?

YES. =D That is amazing.

And I've been using Finale Notepad, which is kind of annoying because you can't change key signatures, tempo, or add or take away any instruments in the middle of a piece. But at least it's free! Until recently. =(

DUDE, I AM SOOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

Jaws synths inadequately...that is UNTIL NOW. HO HO HO HO HO. SO. Radio Shack, right? Has this guy who hears Ash whine. We recorded our first song yesterday (like, they're done, but we perform live so I gave my shot at producing--I love it but NEVER DO IT, IT SUCKS) and it was just fail because our jack-to-out adapter is too small for our instrument jacks, right? What does he do? GIVES us a mixboard at a fraction of the price.

AND enters us in this summer's Battle of the Alternative Bands.

Duuuuuuuuuuuude, that must have been some hell of a good day or something |D if it wasn't for the fact that I also experienced my first migraine that day, I would have been in heaven.

Oh and how dare this thread die! Make it live again, people! Music, it is in you! All of you!...kinda :V

I shall make it live again.

Three weeks of losing ones voice and weakening of the vocal chords wrecks havoc on technique and control.
It's a bitch.

I've been playing guitar for almost three years, I think. I taught myself most of the things I know by ear. It's always come naturally to me, I guess.

I own a bass guitar but I don't play it as much... I've dabbled in singing quite a bit as well, and I'm not too bad.

I'm getting a new guitar soon, as Angus (haha my first guitar. Yes, I name my guitars. I'm like Daryan. XDD) is cracked around the bottom of the neck, which can really throw off the tuning, and can easily be broken more.

Spoiler: Angus

Epiphone Special SG Model. Got it for around $150 at Guitar Center. It's my own damn fault he's cracked...

Spoiler: Sheila
Image ...She's so pretty. *_* When I get this guitar, her name will be Sheila. And I will love her. And take care of her. And never break her. :c
