Welcome to this horror survival RP I have been playing with in my mind for so long. The point of this game is of course discovering the mystery behind the death of Jean Tolouse first...and later who knows. I really hope many people join
The rules to this RP are simple. You can make up to two characters which for whatever reason are found mixed in this matter, 2 characters so interaction may be easier and things may advance faster.
I have pretty much the setup of the game, but it certainly is flexible and if we are wether facing ghosts, demons, a Chtulhullu cult, zombies, a terrorist group, umbrella corp, all of the above, or none at all is based etirely on you and your decisions.
A little spin off I want to make for the RP are "documents". I want it to keep it as realistic as possible, so if your characters should find an important piece of information regarding the cathedral, and it's in the form of a document, you should not reveal it in the forum and send me a PM about it and wait for my approval (So that information from previous document do not mess up ugly. I'm the maker of this RP and, as such, I may be a form of mod in it) which I will save in my PC for further use. Remember, I will not invalidate a document you come up with unless it crashes awfully with another piece of information given by a previous player. With documents there are pieces of information some authors know while others may be inorant of. This way, the only way of knowing the whole truth is by sharing documents in play between characters...if you decide to do so
Finally, I want to set a limit of items for characters, being there a natural limit of 5 including weapons, but not including documents and ammo (yay!). many of you may find this familiar (RE anyone?) Later in the game you may find backpacks or such if the need of more space is frankly obvious, but I want to restrain the use of them for as long as possible. Also, you may drop items in the floor should you need that space for something more important...but no one can tell if it will still be there when you come back.

Ah, I almost forgot. You can give your character a special abbilitty...but let's try to keep it real and not use "magic" type. For example, "Big pockets", "Picklocking skills", "Hacker" or "first aid training" are good examples of abbilitties. But "Adrenaline pump", "Magic touch", "Empathy" or "Heightened senses" may not as there seems to be a fit of "magic" in them. Remember this is located in the real world...at least for now.
And I think that's it...I really hope this launches off

Personality-A crowd pleaser. Avoids confrontation as much as she can. But also is very intelligent. A briliant doctor who can tell what's wrong with someone (medically) just by looking at them.
Bio: Parents died when she was young. She lived with her grandmother and loved her very much. She breezed through school, college included. Then, while she was in medical school, her grandma passed away. She almost flunked out, but pulled herself back. It only increased her determination to become a doctor.

Anyway, here's my character concept:
Name: Russell Farfnair
Age: 25
Occupation: Police Officer
Party: Luckless bypasser.
Description: Vigorous, somewhat robust and tall, with a very unusual purple-colored long hair in a braid, and dark-brown eyes.
Personality: Not the sharpest tool in the box, but does his best to be polite to everyone. Tries to keep cool in most situations, but has some trouble thinking on what to do in a critical one.
Bio: A dilligent officer, joined the police at the age of 20. Mother died just recently, murdered by someone still unknown. Father is always busy with cases since he's a prosecutor, but really loves his son. Other relatives include the prestigious Farfnair step family, who is considered the "main" family for being the most numberous and wealthy one.
Ability: "File Scan". Notices hidden files and archives on unexpected places more easily. However, not all files are indeed important or related to the case at hand, so he may find very vague or useless evidence as well as he can find important documents.
Items:
1 - ID Card: A card from the Police Department for recognization of official members. It reads: Officer Russell Farfnair, ID 8394857. He always keep it with him safely, just to be sure.
2 - KM2000: A German combat knife, and a favorite of Russell. Made with stainless-steel alloy that has better edge-holding properties than the regular combat knives.
3 - Green Herb: A mysterious healing herb. The exact properties are unknown, but seems to heal flesh wounds rather quickly. Can also be easily mixed with others.

I'm glad there are already 4 authors involved! I can't wait to start this, just a couples reminders though
a) New at this? don't worry! This is not an essay or the work of your life, this is all for the funs
if you kinda mess up somewhere, don't worry, those of us with more experience will lend you a hand, don't be shy to PM (this goes for EVERYONE NEW AT RP !)b) Please remember that in this RP you are allowed two characters....to make things go faster and more divergent! as I post this, I'm already thinking on my second character, you should try this too.
c) Ah, many luckless bypassers around...is this perhaps shifting to a destiny-oriented curse? I like it!
but for those joining or for the new characters being created, you may want to take another party (investigation team anyone? we can't let poor Angus alone can we?)To Aullicon. I like your char a lot! However, you should rethink his abbility...though Wonder File sounds useful, I highly doubt it will be of any use with the documents system I planned for the RP, since most documents can be saved in doc files which you may easilly save in your personal computer (at least, they will be in mine)...unless you mean he is capable of finding interesting and important documents hidden in between garbage, which some characters without wonder file may not find? (that certainly sounds useful

Bio: Torque's experiences in life make him uniquely suited to destroy most any creature who he faces. Suffers from Dementia and blacks out from time to time. He was sent to prison being wrongly convicted of killing his wife and kids. When he blacks out he goes on an uncontrollable rampage which to him seems like he turns into a demonic creature, But of course its only a adrenaline driven fit. Humans cant turn into monsters, Could they?
Abilities: Extremely versatile and can make a weapon out of most anything. Basic electronics modding skills are known, But not widely used. Anything you need to know when surviving in the wild or on the streets, Torque knows.

Bio: Danielle is a rookie journalist, and desperate to make herself a famed idol. Her first story leads her to the Cathedral of St Jean. Going to a "ghost town" doesn't stop Danielle from being determined to get the scoop. She tends to be enthusiastic about her job and pretty cheerful. She can, however, be a klutz.
Ability: Danielle has quite a slim body, so she's able to squeeze through holes and gaps of areas at ease.

I can't accept this medium skill abbility, far too magicly. I know this might be controversial because some people in the real world claim to be mediums and all (I prefer to remain neutral on that topic) but even if it were true i want to keep this as magic clean as possible. You have to change your abbility
Ah, and by "radio" you might want to be more specific...is it "walki talkie" wise or is it "FM/AM· wise or is it "Transceiver/reciever" wise.
Oh, and by the way, I love his background (the serial murder suiciding over Black cathedral and his grandfather being a researcher in the area) just remember that St. Jeanne cathedral was forgotten by history and denied by the vatican (which doesn't mean Richel's grand dad couldn't have learned from it somewhere else) and very few people, I would think none, have dared put a feet inside...At least not normal people.

[St. Jeanne Cathedral, front door]
The sunset was closing in. The sun, the bringer of light, perhaps in a last attempt to achieve eternity, pours all of his might on the land, painting everything at the range of his godly rays with a palette of orange and red. All this, perhaps, in an attempt to leave a legacy of light before his unavoidable death.
But the walls of Saint Jeanne cathedral remain black as eternal night.
At the steps of which stands a figure of a man. Groaning, the man stepped on the last of his cigarette. Partly because it was his last and partly because he remembered how delicate this case was...
Flashback {four days ago, 09:00 pm}
“I don’t need to remind you how delicate the situation is, Detective McCoy”
“No” McCoy replied. He was in his office, listening to general Lemierre, chief of the French intelligence organization, the French secret service, and close friend to the family of the president. In short, one of the biggest cheeses out there. “I appreciate the confidence the president has put on me, but I’m not sure I am prepared for a case of this magnitude”
“Those were my exact words when I tried to make him change his mind, no offense intended” Lemierre quickly apologized “But the president insists on you taking the case. Ever since that terrorist incident two months ago, he thinks of you as his lucky charm. I don’t need to tell you how disturbed he is about this, and why I lacked the heart to discuss the matter any further”
McCoy nodded, the president must be horribly disturbed. Apparently, Jean Tolouse, the only son of the president Gerard Tolouse, had been horribly mauled a couple days ago. His dead body was found in the middle of a ghost town, with the closest sign of civilization being a tiny farms town by the name of New St. Jeanne. “I understand. If the president asks me to do it, I can’t refuse”
“Very well” Lemierre grasped his hands “I’ll have your escort prepared for tomorrow at 0600 hours. In New Saint Jeanne you will be under the orders of lieutenant Bordet, though you have been given a special permit to run your own separate investigation as long as you inform everything relevant to him. I don’t need to remind you this matter is a matter of national security and of utmost secrecy”
“I understand General” Angus answered and shock Lemierre hands before the fat general left through the door, leaving him alone in the darkness of his office…
End flashback
A small but extremely competent investigation team had been formed quickly, limited in numbersr to avoid any suspicions from the locales. Interrogations of the inhabitants of New St. jeanne had been delayed until the strange events of the murder became clearer, though tey are on heavy undercover observation.
When Angus first arrived to the scene he quickly learned everything about the case, and was horrified at the poor state of Jean’s body upon reaching the scene…the first thing he thought was that this could only be the job of a mad man. McCoy understood why all of the forensics experts and police officers decided to stay at the Deer forest outpost instead of the haunted houses of St. Jeanne, he was gravely disturbed just recalling that image.
“Detective McCoy!” A young police officer took him out of his toughts “I brought the documents you asked for!”
“At last” Angus took the manila folder and revised the contents. It included the copies of a summary of the autopsy report, four pictures of the deceased, and a map of the area. Angus frowned when he studied it. “What of this Bontecou manor officer?” he asked
“A local landmark sir, a mansion surrounded entirely by woods. A recoinassance group was sent the first day we got here. The place is completely empty, sir, a couple soldiers were placed there in case something suspicious goes on there”
“Have we made contact with the owners of the house?”
“No, all documents regarding it are misleading. In New Saint Jeanne they claim the place is haunted sir, that’s everything we have learned from the place”
‘Yet another haunted house, what’s wrong with this place?’ Angus thought to himself. “Make sure everyone involved with the case gets a copy of these”
“Yes sir. If I may speak freely...It’s getting late and cold, are you ready to return to the outpost?”
“No …I want to know this place better. I’ll be down there in a while”
“Y…yes sir!” The police officer turned around and left, leaving Angus alone with his toughts.

[Ennui Butchery backalley, New Saint Jeanne (NSJ for short)]
A slim figure walked past one of the many backalley of NSJ. Everything in him seemed weak but pissed off, dangerous. Even the rats, bolder than usual in that area of the town, bolted away from his presence.
And his mind was filled with one tought only
‘F*ck the cops’
Most of NSJers seem oblivious to their presence, but not him. Not him who still pays regular visits to old Saint Jeanne. There they meet, in big numbers, prowling around the place and even inside the cursed church. If there is something more true about this world, it is that Adrien Ennui hates cops. What could they want with the place? And why do they all have that secretive look? It is as if hell broke loose on them.
Adrien grinned at the idea, but only slightly. For now, he needed some serious booze and perhaps gambling in the dog fights. As he reached his favorite place a familiar sign greeted him with the name "White dog pub" hanging from the side. He searched his pocket.
He had barely enough cash for three beers.
“Oh well” He sighed. He would certainly have his booze, he needed it badly. And maybe later, Santa would run into someone willing to sponsor his dog fights gambling…

In the outskirts of New St. Jeanne, a blue jeep hastily dashed through a rather steep field. Russell, who was driving it, wore a black open jacket over a dark-blue shirt, trousers of the same dark-blue color and leather boots. He checked his own wristwatch and sighed. He would never make it in time.
Grandfather said he wanted to talk to me, all of a sudden...and, to this time, I had no idea he was living in France. Guess we really had to get in touch, after all. Luckily, the Chief allowed me to come. I should be arriving by 11:00 PM as my grandfather wanted, but I guess I won't make it in time...
As Russell imagined how would his grandfather react to his usually dilligent grandson's lateness, he looked through the window, and was surprised to see a big mansion a little ahead, surrounded by woods.
Strange...I didn't expect to come by any civilization until I got to the next city...and...Woah!!
Due to the momentary lack of attention and that steep, arduous road that seemed to haven't been taken care of in ages, the jeep lost control. Russell tried to regain it, but took too long to do so: the jeep accidentaly invaded those nearby woods and crashed in a big tree right after, with a loud "crashing" noise. Russell was knocked out.

Josephine was driving to a new hospital, to which she was transferred. Then, she saw trees bent over. Or ran over. She stopped and ran into the forest, forgetting to set her parking break. A ways in, she saw a car crashed into a huge tree. She pulled out the driver and immediately started checking for a pulse, hoping he was alive.

W-What...damn! Did I just crashed!?
He wasn't feeling very hurt, though: his strong build kept him from suffering heavy damage in that accident. But he did have a strong headache now. He then tried to stand up, or at least sit down, so he could show he was feeling OK.
- Hum...exc...who are you?
He was trying to say "Excuse me", as he always tried to be polite whenever he saw a new face, but the headache was so unusually strong he wasn't thinking very straight yet.

[Deer forest outpost]
Midway from both St. Jeannes stand a small forest ranger outpost built over a few ruins. Close to abandoned, It contains old but still functionale housing buildings for campers, a food stand, and a ranger tower for the service of the very few hunters and the even less tourists that visit the area.
However, with a special permit of the government the place has been filled with tents to house the forensic and investigation team. The cabin of the forest ranger is being used as the authopsy room.
McCoy felt frustrated. Saint Jeanne was abandoned for sure, he searched the area for hours these past days and had not found activity from anyone but the police itself. Besides, there was no clear motive for the murder, not a single clue leading anywhere, and even Toulouse's unusual death held far to many mysteries...nothing made sense!
...'I must be missing something, I know it!' McCoy thought and turned to the old town, viewable at the distance 'It's freezing, but I must go back there' Determined, he headed for Bordet's tent to ask for a small team to join him, when he was adressed by someone behind him....

Ken got the document he wanted from His grandparent´s house, and went his way to new St. Jean, he went to his house packed a radio, a handgun and a am-fm radio, and a lighter, he went to the local, he didn´t library hping to find anything new yet he didn´t found nothing, ¨God I hate this town¨ he though and closed his eyes for a moent, he didn´t though that going to the cathedral was a good idea so he went to his house, but he felt someone following him, ¨There are no other cars near... ¨ he said and he found 2 persons near the woods, he stopped and went to them Äre you guys ok?¨

He let the doctor take care of him. He wasn't confused anymore, though the headache was really preventing him of thinking too much. He didn't even noticed when another person aproached the scene at first.

"It's pretty common to have a headache. Here, take these. They'll help."
Then, she noticed the other man.

Probably not. However, he had already felt it was not a good idea to go alone before meeting Luis, and now that the mexican detective had joined, he still felt two people still was not safe enough. What got him so nervous about that place?

He started to check the surroundings. He didn't see much, other than the woods. He remembered how he crashed, he looked to a nearby creepy mansion for too long and then he lost control of the jeep.

Since he already felt OK, he stood up properly and looked to his car. It was in a pretty bad state now. He sighed, and then aproached the car, that had the right door open.
I need my belongings now. Let's see...
He opened the glove compartment and got his ID card, that he always kept with himself, along with his favorite weapon, the KM2000, that was sheathed properly, as always. He also took the green herb, but he examined this item for a little while.
I guess it can prove useful, if I happen to crash yet again...or something.

The van stopped outside of old St. jean, which in the night seemed even more intimidating. McCoy grabbed a flashlight and gave one to Ruiz, and the police officers quickly prepared themselves for the trip.
"I want to check the cathedral first, maybe you could check the cloister, unless you want to come with me?"
