I personally like talking about news items I've seen (and probably pay too much attention to them).
So I figured, "Hey, why not try to start a forum... for people to discuss news articles and the like?"
Figure it probably won't start up... but worth a try
So, I'll go ahead and start.
Please keep it civil... no need to argue, just discuss. [/quote]

I remember reading about that (I've heard the same thing, twins most definitely have a very special connection with each other). I read about that the other day... and I was reading an article today about how even with all the medical advances, separating conjoined twins is still extremely risky and difficult. Which, I can understand, especially when they're sharing vital organs.
I just have some disturbing disease that I pay attention to news headlines everywhere, I think it should worry me...

The albino murderer thing scares me. I can't believe people like that exist, and are actually doing it. That's terrible.

Over here, uh .. I recall, that, uh... some guy got shot at Dunkin' Donuts by one of two robbers. :yuusaku:

Oh! The whole case just had an update! o_O

Hmm, I hadn't heard about that. Such senseless violence...

Yeah, the albino thing is really disturbing.
It's insane how "traditions" in old ... medicine I suppose you'll call it, things that have been considered "a cure" or something for years and years... how prevalent and hard to erase it becomes.

I usually keep up with political news. I remember when I found out that Hillary Clinton was going to be Secretary of State...>.> That was....well, I really didn't feel anything. XD

Every single time I see a story like that first one, I just can't help but shake my head. That's just so HORRIBLE. Just...ugh!

But nothing exciting has happened locally lately...*boring town is really boring*

It really is quite horrible.
Kind of me to share, I know...

Hmm, that's why I pay attention to news elsewhere, it's a bit droll around here. ... I guess I should be grateful for that.

This isn't really from the news, but according to my school's news bulletin, a guy was doing "lewd acts" near the school.

Also, some guy pushed a 10 year old of their bike... according to my school.

Also, when i was in the toilet once, someone put the toilet lid (or whatever it's called) down and did a LOONG turd on it... oh god how i laughed...

All I hear on the news is how screwed the economy is (and how much more screwed it is going to become in the not-too-distant future). :sadshoe:

Oh wow, that reminds me of when (at my college)... the dean came around to every class and gave this talk... (and this guy, he's a lawyer... so you know, political correctness and all).
And so he kind of... minces words... about how um... "certain things" aren't allowed in the bathrooms (yuck) and the parking lot.
And it's like, "..."
And... there's another part, but it's just too nasty to share... *shudder*

Yeah...
... though, though of course it's the news' job, it's not that we needed to be told that.
I have to wonder at times if the news makes it worse... people are so reactionary and so when they hear, "The economy this or that," I think it really freaks them out...
I do believe that the stock market becomes a lot more volatile when someone "high and mighty" says something about there being problems. Because loads of people sell and that effects it. So reactionary... just wait it out... if more people would sit and wait it out... there'd probably be less to wait out...

Not much happening here. My family and I are mainly keeping up on the news in the Mumbai bombings. So far it been revealed that 170+ people have been found dead. How can a person have a conscience if they know they're going to kill about 2000= people?

In the news:
Jewish settlers set fire to Palestinian home
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE4B50WM20081206?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews

*sigh* Will people ever learn that things like this don't help...?
... yes, I know they probably won't...
It's frustrating...
Things could be so much better if people could just sit down and discuss things...
I don't want to get too into religion on here... but if there's one thing I've noticed... it breeds so much hatred and violence.
And I don't understand it... I'm a religious person, but I'm not about to go kill people over disagreeing with me, it's their right to disagree with me. I respect their beliefs, I just want them to respect mine... but if they don't, I'm not gonna slit their throats about it. *shakes head*

Let's face it.
No matter who we vote in, we're absolutely screwed.
Either we get stuck with "things can only get b- oops, we lied!" Labour, or...well, the Tories. That says it for itself.
None of the others stand half a chance, anyway.

Old (and I do mean old) news item: One fellow of questionable intelligence (to say nothing of integrity) filed a lawsuit against Starbucks, seeking compensation for injuries to his penis. Somehow he ended up crushing it between the toilet seat and the bowl. I do not recall it ever being fully explained how he got his penis injured this way, but I think we can all guess what his intent was when it happened. :hotti:

Yeah, I kind of think the same thing about Obama. But I'll sit back and watch and give him a chance and really hope he doesn't do anything too insane.

I remember reading about that in a magazine... about some fellow that played Secret Santa for years and then people have taken over.
It's news that like that gives me hope for the world.
And a good nice warm fuzzy feeling inside. I like to think that there's more of that stuff out there, but that the media just neglects to report it a lot of the time.

It sort of sounds to me like one of those set-ups of trying to sue a company.

But the most retarded part is that someone gave her and her husband the finger as a payback for a $50 (I think) debt.
That is the most twisted thing I have heard in my life. He lost it on the job and instead of trying to get it reattached, he gives it to them...

Bit of a catastrophe going on here in Ireland at the moment. In early December, all Irish pork products have been recalled due to a toxin called PCB being found in the slaughtered corpses of Irish pigs, which they've gotten from the feed they've been given. The toxin can causes complications with your immune and reproductive systems and can apparently cause some types of cancer. We dunno whether we're going to be having turkey and ham for Christmas just yet because I've heard conflicting accounts. Some say we'll have it sorted out by next week, I certainly hope so. I can't live without my Christmas morning fry-up. DDD:

It really doesn't help that we're in recession at the moment as well. Irish pork does have a decent export rate, particularly with Britain.

I remember seeing a headline about that.
I look through so many headlines that it's hard to keep track of them all.

On a side note, is there anyone out there that's bookmarked this so I know how often to bother with updating the news in the first entry?

And the whole damn world is in a recession. :yuusaku: Not fun.

A Muncie mother landed in jail after she allegedly used a crayon to scratch the word "bitch" on her son's forehead and sent him to school.
"She said she was just messing around," said Delaware County sheriff's investigator Nancy Marvin, who handles domestic abuse cases.

Marvin went to Selma Elementary School on Tuesday where she interviewed the 9-year-old son of Sherri A. Feuston, 30, and was able to read the marking on the child's forehead.

The fourth-grade victim told police that his mother held him down, sitting on his chest, and scratched the word into his forehead while her boyfriend held his feet.
Feuston was picked up for questioning Wednesday and said she was just playing with her son, denying that she was doing anything to hurt him. The incident also was witnessed by Feuston's 11-year-old and 2-year-old daughters.

Marvin also reported that the mother had used a belt to discipline the son and had struck the child in the eye when she flipped a towel at him.
Feuston, 2121 W. Memorial Drive, was preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent, battery and criminal confinement. She was held Thursday on a $20,000 bond.
Feuston's boyfriend, who is the father of the 2-year-old girl, denied being involved and investigators turned information over to the prosecutor's office for possible charges.
School authorities reported the alleged abuse. Joel Mahaffey, Selma Elementary School principal, declined to comment, saying the school's policy was not to release confidential information about students.

State child protective services placed Feuston's children in the care of her maternal grandparents, pending completion of the case.

I couldn't help but laugh...but still kinda messed up...at least it wasn't etched in blood or anything...

Wow, that's pretty crazy.
Albeit, slightly funny in a sick sick way.
The things people do never cease to amaze me.
