I never really gave it much thought until today but what exactly is her kimono entailing? I know that might be a heafty order considering we don't see every inch them but from it doesn't look like it's a repeating cycle of mindless blather.. at least not to me...

I can't read Japanese so I wouldn't know... I do see alot of the same symbols being repeated but it still looks consistent...

*Giggle* However awesome Morgan Fey in a girdle would be. ((Were she from more Renassiance Europe times instead of... Ancient Japan...? I'm not sure.... a corset would be awesome.)) I think the thing around her waist is called an Obi...? I could be wrong, though.

Either that, or it's Kanji.

But Japan stole Kanji from China so it could be either. :|

So something big or large...
I would help more, but It's been while since I studied kanjis...
I have kinda...forgotted most of them...

Anyway now we know that it says something or someone is large/big...

I see the kanji 'jin' for 'human'. That's all I can make out.

It most certainly is Chinese. I am Chinese, so I think I am qualified to make that sort of statement. It's not Japanese kanji. One example: Japanese kanji would write kingdom as 国 while the corresponding Chinese character is 國 (in traditional Chinese) which you can see plainly on her robe in 鎮國道場.

It's Buddhist writing. There are characters meaning the great wheel, buddhist monks and their disciples, great benevolence, some Buddhist names, etc.

It doesn't make sense as a whole sentence though (sort of like someone scribbling random Buddhist-related words on a robe without particularly caring about its order).

Oh, and I can't see the word for 人. You might have mistaken 又 (a sort of grammary word, means something like "furthermore, in addition") or 大 (big) for that...

EDIT: Ah, found it. It's an endless repetition of this sentence from a buddhist book:

"是國師大阿闍梨年一百三歳見今在新羅國轉大法輪。又付大唐弟子順曉。亦是鎮國道場大德阿闍梨。"

Maybe with a few characters' difference, because there's different versions of the sentence.

It's very difficult to understand since it's about Buddhism and it's written in old Chinese, but it talks about a Buddhist monk who is... let's call it the master monk... and who is currently a hundred and three years old and is currently in the Silla Kingdom (in Korea), and he also serves as some other position which I don't really understand, and there's this talk about his disciple.

The book itself is an ancient Japanese Buddhist history book written in the 13th century.

The next sentence after this one is about how another of his disciples, Saicho (who is historically significant in Japan as a founder of some Buddhist sect) went to Japan and preached there, I believe.

Of course, since it's from an ancient Buddhist book, this person is most certainly dead.

If anyone wants to be bewildered by symbols that seem completely random... it's here.

it's just a traditional model of a kimono. i found lots of kimonos and yukatas like that when i went to Kyoto (and bought one too). even though japanese are mostly shintoists, there are many buddhists too so it's not odd to find a kimono like this.

Well I guess it does make sense that its not just random symbols. The whole AA series' storyline is so tight that I doubt they would even overlook that minute detail unless they were reaching a deadline and some sap in an office was CTRL+V-ing a bunch of stuff onto that sprite.
