Hi, Vicki... again. I hate to request something so soon after my last wallpaper (which I still love and am still using, btw 8D) but... I have a request for a banner to represent a fanfic challenge I'm doing over at LiveJournal since I'm almost 100% finished. I hope you don't mind. T__T

Text: 50 Ace Attorney Fanfics
Image(s): http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd26 ... en_img.jpg

Not the best pic, but it's the only one I could find of lawyer Phoenix and Apollo together. XP
Any preferred size?: Around the same size as the banner in my sig or a little bigger... It doesn't matter.
Color scheme: Preferably white/black... but, whatever works.
Extras? (hearts, stars, swirls, etc.): Anything and everything, as always.

Hi there Vicky!! Remember me?... no? XD

Well as I said when I thankfully replied for the awesome sig I`m coming back for another request.
I loved your work too much to don`t make another request... is not that I just think of you as a resource of good art. Yuo are a great friend!
And noww by seeing the last "CURRENT QUEUE" it was (for my dead brain) short.

So... I... um... Well I`ll give you some indications:
I want a wallpaper.

Images:
Spoiler:
ImageImage

Details: Kamina and Godot back to back. Godot: the same part of the body as kamina`s image from the hips to the head (if that`s the right way to say it)
I don`t need to say that Godot needs a little reduction of his size (the same as kamina)
Text: manly Badass team. (in the middle below kamina and Godot With big but really big letters.)
Colors: red and black or even better with a background of something like flames. Really badass. Ha! :godot:
Size: maybe 1024X768 jeje... I think that will be right.
Effects: maybe the thing of the flames suits for the effects... well I leave it to your judgement. :udgy:

Well if you have any problems with the request: you are too busy, too many requests, don`t want to, I wasn`t polyte enough... just tell me.

Don`t worry I :will: be patient. XD
Thanks. It was, is and always will be a pleasure.

Spoiler: big post
Basically, footbinding was done for a variety of reasons, which is what I want to really emphasize in my paper. There seems to be a popular assumption in past research that all Chinese men apparently had a foot fetish and thought that the 3-inch foot was really sexy. The problem is, of course you'll have at least some individuals who have a fetish in whatever (in ANY society), but this research generalized too much. If you look at most art (and by "art", I mean.. paintings of sexual expression) when footbinding was apparently really popular, it is interesting to observe that the men in the paintings rarely were looking or admiring the woman's feet. The man's gaze was always directed away from her feet. If the feet were the most attractive part on a woman's body and was the only object of sexual desire, you would think that most paintings would show this.

I've also heard stories. A father was so distraught from the fact that his young daughter was having her feet bound (if your society sees it as normal..) that he committed suicide. If all the Chinese really accepted it and embraced the practice, why would this happen?

I definitely need to further my research, but from what I already know:
- Reasons for footbinding -
1. Beauty (It's interesting to note that throughout history, pain has always been associated with the attainment of beauty.)
2. Social status (In the beginning, only the elite classes practiced footbinding.)
3. Male dominance and limiting women (Women could hardly walk after having her feet bound, so there's a dominance theme involved)
4. "Civilizedness" (The Han Chinese always wanted to distinguish themselves from the "barbarians" up in the North. Clothing was often used to separate "us" from "them." In addition, the body was considered attire. A woman having her feet bound was part of the attempt to become more civilized - which is very ironic, because footbinding is seen as such a barbaric practice.)

There's also a few reasons I've briefly read up on so I need to research them a bit more.

Re: Pain
The anti-footbinding movement in the early 1900s (I believe?) forced the Chinese to abandon footbinding. However, one method used was to force all women with their feet bound to unbind their feet, to "liberate" them.
...The pain of unbinding the feet was almost as great as the pain of having the feet bound, so these women had to suffer again. :/

It sounds like you have a good basis for research so far. Your looking at something in a new and original way, so I think your paper will be very successful.

Hiya, Vic. Just popping in to let you know that I edited my request post because I accidentally put the link to a different picture than the one I wanted. I think it's the second to last before the "sleeping beauty" one.

^^; Sorry if it was too much of a hassle to change it.

*giggle* That one's good too.

I've always wanted to make one with the :welly: smiley, but it's more dependent on the name of the emote than the name of the character, so nobody would get it. XP

Actually what I do is use the name of the Character:
Will Powers
Winston Payne

I focus on those ones with names than I can use: Imagine I post a pic where I`m dressed funny and I place below the picture: :luke-side: Cause of the name: Luke Atmey/ Look at me
Obviously you already know that but that`s the main idea.

And thank you for admiring my work -- I'd be happy to make something for you. :3 I've added you to the waitlist below.

vio55: Hey, no problem! :) Added to waitlist below.

Gray Godot: Sure thing; I've added you to the waitlist. ^___^

(I know that the middle line requires squinting to read, but I thought the script in-between the two other lines looked very appropriate (and pretty!) for the theme I wanted to convey through the Mia/Godot theme. Kinda.. romantic-ish? Looking back on the past-ish?)

Note: There may be a few delays in the near future because I have like, two other graphic design jobs IRL now 8D;
The delays won't be super ridiculous so don't be threatened by such news, please. :B I'm still here to serve you lovely peoples.

Spoiler: What opportunities I got offered - TL;DR
1. A club that I'm a part of basically promoted me from "random member #6" to official artist. I'll be drawing and submitting a t-shirt design that will be used for one of our biggest events, as well as making flyers, banners, and other things.

2. My internship at the Career Center (which actually involves very little with graphic design...) found out that I used to make graphics for a somewhat 'famous' person (eh, too-involved with politics which wasn't my thing) and even though there is a separate "graphic design internship" offered, I'm going to be in charge of making several flyers and layouts for some important events this semester. I'm very excited about this. *__*

So.. woot. It's nice to know that even though I'll be going into I/O psychology, I can still work on graphics.. somewhat as a professional. @__@ I've always wanted to work on more "professional-looking" graphics like flyers and banners and whatnot - here's my chance!

I'm doing good and thanks for asking.

Despite only tutoring one person on Monday, I was very busy writing up some procedural documents for our Center. I basically had to outline the exact procedures for answering the phone, taking and delivering messages, signing out/in resources (calculators and textbooks). I took the assignment very serioulsy and tried to make the documents sound as professional as possible. I'll find out on Tuesday whether or not my supervisor approves of them.

I kind of felt like a spin doctor when I wrote the begining of each section. I basically said the importance of each task. It's not like they aren't important, but I made them sound imperative. I know my boss will be presenting them at our meeting on Friday. I'm kind of interested to see what the other tutors think of the documents.

Congrats on the graphics opportunites, Vicki. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun working on those documents. Good luck with your internship.

That's what all my friends think! Okay, not that I have ESP, or anything, but because I'm known as the "therapist" and "mediator" among my friends and other people, some of my friends tease that I'm psychic for always knowing when something's wrong and such. Even though it doesn't take psychic powers to do that... :sadshoe:

Caelestis: Omg, yes! That's exactly how I feel. Sorry, I can't read your mind and NO, I will not diagnose your husband for some type of insanity. (When I've told older women that I'm a psychology major the common reaction is: "Oh! You can then diagnose my husband because he's crazy, ok? :D")

Thanks re: the opportunities!! ^___^

Lunaria: Wow, you sound busy! I've been busy myself with my internship; I had to make several dozen calls yesterday and earlier today. One woman was quite rude and hung up on me.. but luckily, that was the only person who was outright rude to me.

It's great that you took the assignment seriously. I think when you do, it really shows through the results. I'm sure your supervisor will approve of them :)

Thank you so much regarding the graphics jobs. I'm so excited -- I worked on my first banner and publication header today, and my supervisor absolutely loved it! :) They seem impressed with what I can do so far so hopefully I'll be working on graphics (as well as other responsibilities, of course) for the remainder of the semester.

VK: You're very welcome! ^^ Have fun on your website-thing.

Gray Godot: Haha, you should. No one's stopping you! :)
1.
Spoiler: TL;DR
It's called the FMLA - Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance. We have tons of different events, everything from sex education workshops, we'll be working on events for women's history month soon... last semester we had a few film showings that collaborated with planned parenthood on abortion, etc. I learned so much through my classes and the club. :]

For the most part, we all just hang out during meetings; it's very laidback.
Oh, and we're also dedicated to educating others that "feminism" does not always mean RADICAL feminism, which is the popular assumption and therefore everyone automatically thinks, OH GOD YOU'RE A FEMINIST? YOU'RE A MAN HATER!! o__o;; That is something I clearly do not identify with. I'm a liberal feminist. Not only that, but there are so many different categories of feminism... there isn't just one type; it simply means wanting equality between men and women. :]

2. Thank you!! :)
Spoiler: TL;DR
Hahaha, no, not Obama. I would call him famous, not somewhat famous. XD
Not many people are familiar with her because she's more of a political blogger nowadays. Long story short, she used to be the CEO of Planned Parenthood until just a few years ago.

3. I'm a psychology and women's studies double major. I'm also a China studies minor. :]
Nope, I'm not a graphic design major/minor or anything. I purely do graphic design as a hobby and/or a side-job.. sorta. Anyway, I like to incorporate my graphic design experience into my internships or my club-related activities. I absolutely love to volunteer and help out so even if I'm really busy with other things, I still volunteer to make flyers and stuff. :)

My future plans... I'm going to go into business psychology which really has nothing directly related to graphic design. However, I figure that I can always do graphic design on the side. If anyone actually wants to hire me, I would love to do it as a side-job. Can't lose by getting an extra (minor) source of income.

And thanks again!~

Incendiary: Oooh, that's cool (the roleplay).
Thank you!! I really appreciate your words of support ^___^ <3
Ahahah, I'm not sure I'll achieve world domination but you'll definitely be on my list of people to thank .. if I do. *shifty eyes*

Nooo, CR won't be a bunch of random hobos.. hoboes. All of you will be successful in whatever you do - you all seem like incredibly nice and genuine people. YOU'RE ALL AWESOME. o__o;

LOL! Oh man, that must be annoying! Even though I haven't had that happen to me (still in high school, lol), I can understand. Unfortunately, I do way too much psycho-analyzing for someone my age and know way too much about psychological theories, famous people, etc. for someone my age. But it's all fun, I suppose. I was thinking about becoming a therapist, but I really don't know. I don't know what i want to do with my life... I have way too many interests (almost anything I try I enjoy) and not enough specific talents :sadshoe: Anyway.... XD

Spoiler: the first thing

YES! Something I can back up! (though, I may not be considered a 'liberal' feminist, cuz I don't know what that entails. I'm against abortion) Ugh, I hate the stereotypes against feminists. I have to be careful around my guy friends, because they tend to think that's what being a feminist means (my good guy friends and my boyfriend know the difference thankfully). Actually, this one friend of a friend, he made some sexist joke, and as a response, half-jokingly, I said, "Be careful, I'm a feminist." (I'm sitting at a table of all guys, so yeah). Guess what he says to me? "Really...? You look too pretty to be a feminist."
Should I be flattered? Maybe, but unfortunately, I do know that he meant the fact that I wasn't those "crazy radicals".

But I completely could support this. I mean, one of the things I wrote for an English assignment was how many people were judging US presidential runner Hillary Clinton and US vice presidential runner Sarah Palin just on the fact they were women. Whether they supported them or not. I'm not just saying that sexist people didn't vote for them... I'm also saying that I was annoyed that people were voting for them because they were female. That bugs me; the fact that gender should play such a role in society. :sadshoe:

Heh, sorry for the rant... well, wasn't supposed to be a rant, but oh well... :will:

Caelestis: AWESOME! A thousand cool points for you! :) I never expected to find someone who had such a similar opinion about the issue as I did.. unfortunately it's quite rare to find.
Spoiler: TL;DR
I tend to risk comments like, "omg, ur a feminist? so do you like, burn your bras, hate men, and ur a lesbo??" if I mention the topic. It's quite unfortunate how the term has such a negative connotation :/

Liberal feminism is basically on the opposite side of the spectrum from "radical" feminism. Most feminists are actually liberal feminists. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_feminism, it explains it better than I can right now XD) Basically, as Wiki says, liberal feminists believe that we can achieve change in society WITHOUT changing the core structure of society (i.e. some radical feminists believe that women will never achieve equality unless all ties are broken off with men, etc... lots of logistical issues with this >__>).

So, liberal feminists want to work TOGETHER with men to produce change.. because by working together, things can change. :)

Oh, and you don't have to be pro-choice/pro-life (either way) to be a liberal feminist. Feminism is just.. wanting equality between the sexes. :)

In response to your post...
That's frustrating to hear ("You look too pretty to be a feminist"). Really, now? There are absolutely no feminists out there who are even the least bit attractive? ... Ah, stereotypes. *rolls eyes*
Feminists come in all sizes and shapes... to make such absurd generalizations such as, "people who want equality are ugly and lesbians" is just stupid, if you word it that way, no? Haha.

GOOD PAPER/ASSIGNMENT TOPIC! Yes, the media often commented on their looks and clothing choices instead of their intelligence or capabilities.

Yes! Everyone (both men and women) are strictly limited in these "gender boxes." Men can't cry or do certain things otherwise they risk being called "gay"; women are still seen as having inferior math/science skills... the list goes on. It's unfair to everyone. If someone tries to go beyond their gender box, society calls them weird or "not normal." This person would be ostracized and would be given strange looks.

Those topics about genders are a very impotant subject to talk about, like the stereotypes that are made against foreign people. Women are don`t have to be ugly or lesbian just cause they are feminist, that`s just stupid. Women are smart, determined and beautiful :hotti: enough to make something good for earth. Come on! From where I`am the president is a women: Michelle Bachelet for you to know. That proves at least that there are some changes around the world. I don`t need to insult, degrade, and stereotype women to be a succesful in my life, even someday I want to meet one determined, smart and beautiful women to be for the rest of my life with me and isn`t that the thing all people want?. I like to have people/Women/Men to talk about serious matters, sadly there`s too many of us man that don`t have an open mind and are simply stupid, I don`t imply that here too but about the situation in my country is too much, they`re too stupid, and you don`t know how much.

Well I enjoy all this conversations while we wait for the requests.
I remember you told us about you other works. So It wont be a problem.
I :will: be a :goodman: while you finish. XD
Thanks. It was, is and always will be a pleasure.

Gray Godot: !!! I absolutely love your post. See, simply, there needs to be more people who think like you. There are still inequality issues in the world (like how men are paid 25 cents to every dollar more than a woman for the same job), and it's simply stupid to turn a blind eye to everything.
I'm happy to meet such an open-minded person. Yes, I agree. There are men AND women who are not open-minded enough. >__>;

I also think it's awesome that you have a female president. :)

"Those topics about genders are a very impotant subject to talk about, like the stereotypes that are made against foreign people."
Yes, racist stereotypes bother me as well. -___-; I took a class about prejudice and attempts made to reduce prejudice last semester. Unfortunately, it was not as interesting as it SHOULD have been, but there were some things I learned that were fascinating. I wish more people were aware of how harmful stereotypes can be. :/

Anyways..
Your last line is amusing. Goodman. XD;

YES YES YES!! Someone understands! I completely agree with everything.

Lol, burning bras. Yes, unfortunately, too stereotypical. I mean, I don't hate men at all; I just think both genders should get equal rights and opportunities
And I agree with the whole stereotypical male. You know what's sad? My guy friends talk to me over talking to each other about their problems and feelings because they feel uncomfortable letting go their emotions to other guys! I find that so rediculous that society has put that sort of pressure!

Anyway, I'd love to talk to you more about it! (check PM sometime... :D )

This talk about stereotypes reminds of something else from childhood. If I mentioned this before, please forgive because I forget who I tell this story too. I'm a caucasian person of Irish, Italian, English, and numerous other European countries decent. However, when I was younger I was considered the Chinese kid in my school because my eyes are narrow. I had to constantly correct everyone, other kids and some adults. I remember one time I was at the park in my neighborhood and an aquaintence's father asked or rather assumed I was Chinese. I corrected him, but he kept going on about being full blooded Chinese and how they all know karate. I was like, but I'm not Chinese and I don't even know karate anyway. It was very annoying and frustrating. I feel like can sympathize with people who are often assumed to be an ethnicity they are not.

I've been told people really can't figure out what I am. I've been mistaken for a Hispanic person as well. That's probably because many caucasians are obsessed with race and ethnicity because their cultures are considered "the norm" so they don't feel ethnic at all. They want to classify everyone and feel odd that they are just "white." At least that's how I've felt at times, but maybe I'm the only one. I don't feel that way so much anymore, but a few years ago I was obsessed with the study of race and ethnicity. Maybe that has to do with my childhood? Who knows, but I still think it is interesting to see how past cultures have classified people before.

Man, what is with me being so philosphical today? I really need to get back to my reading which is funny because the story is about a woman who is prejuidice and stereotypes everyone she encounters.

Spoiler: To Caelestis:
I know that stuff of men normally talking about their feelings just in front of female friends is stupid, and it`s cause of the pressure of this days but I can`t say I`m not a victim to that. I have female friends who I can rely on to talk about my feelings cause with my male friends I just don`t feel like it with most of them (maybe with a few but not everyone). And with women I also talk about he most simple things that one can say.

The last day of classes (our class trip) when we were returning I was sitting with a girl who happened to be my friend: and we talked about how when the year was ending, you start remembering all the good and bad stuff that happened to you, how some weathers influenced the way you feel, etc. Simple topics. (BTW It was december 23).

Spoiler: To Lunaria 42:
That`s just awful! How they can be so racist to say such things! Just because you have narrow eyes! Those are some really big ASSHOLES. And yes, if they act like that they in some sort of way deserve to be called assholes. I would be sad if someone mistaken me for something I`m not. This doesn`t have any sense but once: I was with my family in a mall in a sports store, while my dad was looking some trainers an old lady gets close to me and tells me: "Excuse me, sir. But do you have this trainers in a bigger size?" And I`m not a "sir" yet! I`m just 14 dammit! And I told her: Ah! no, no, no! I don`t work in here!"
I felt sad to be mistaken for a shoes seller. (I`m not implying a shoes seller isn`t a respectable job).

Spoiler: To Vickinator:
Thanks for the compliments! And I completely agree with you! I HATE racist stereotypes! Like whe one person says something like:
-"look chinese stuff!"
-"That`s not chinese, that`s Korean."
-" Same thing!"

It`s not the same thing!!! Or with arabs, all being terrorists, or latin people all being like the stereotype of mexicans! I just can`t take it!

Since I`m in CR I`ve met people from all the world.
I`m happy I found out there could be people from the U.S that could be so nice. I used to hate people from the U.S cause of the image they presented to the world.
That`s cause I`m happy, as long as there`s one person from the U.S that I can be sure it`s not an asshole I`m happy cause I won`t have to hate anybody. :edgy:

Sorry if I`m being a :payne: in the ass. Ha!
Thanks. It was, is and always will be a pleasure.

I've been asked if I was an employee at stores too. Once at Half Price Books an older gentleman mistook me for a girl that had just helped him. He was a little senile from what I could tell, at least his daughter (or granddaughter, I can't recall right now) treated him that way. She was like, "Dad, I don't think this lady works here." or something like that. Another time I was at the mall and I was getting something at the food court when the cashier asked if I worked in the mall. I guess he wanted to know if worked there so I could get a discount. I was just dressed in my normal attire (slacks and a shirt) during both of those incidents.

I know! I totally agree. I hate it when people assume Chinese culture and Japanese culture is exactly the same... I know it can be confusing for someone who hasn't been exposed to Asian culture (and I do realize that there can be some similarities), but please don't degrade both cultures by saying "they're the same." >___<;

Yeah, I know.. the United States has a crappy reputation. Especially U.S. tourists.. they can be so embarrassing. I can't believe they're from the U.S. >__>;

No, but seriously. We're so behind on so many things (like gender equality...) compared to many other countries. I wish people would open their eyes and learn. There can be too many stubbornness in the United States, but I digress, since I'm making generalizations.

Lunaria: That really sucks about the stereotypes and all. Right, because all Chinese people know karate... sigh. AND HE WAS A FULL-GROWN ADULT? Another sigh.

Quote:

Fully agreed. There really is too much of an emphasis on what exact percent of whatever you are. Why does it matter so much to complete strangers? So that you may place me into a pre-determined box of expectations? No thanks.

You don't have to stop being philosophical; I find it refreshing. It's difficult to find some good, thoughtful conversation on the internet... actually, even in real-life. >__>;

Caelestis: Hahah, you're really awesome. I got your PM - I'll definitely e-mail you sometime.

Hello! I'm dropping by once again to thank you for everything you've done for me! :D I still have my amazing wallpaper, and all my friends and even the person who did repairs on my computer complimented on it. XD; I love looking at it every single day--it never gets old. <3

...Oh! And I tried some work as well! :DD Here is one (the first time sing a C4D brush set) icon, and here are a collection of LJ icons I made for a certain community! (I-I guess I was mostly just messing around with the colors, but...XD;; )

I-I apologize for breaking the excellent conversation on feminism, women's rights, and stereotypes, but I have very little time to type this--I'm very sorry DDD:

Once again, thank you!! <33

Haibara: ^___^ You're very welcome; it's been a pleasure to have you as a requester. (That's so funny that whoever repaired your computer complimented it!~ X3)

Your Edgeworth work is nice! What I like the most is the lighting effects behind/near Edgeworth's head. ^^
The LJ icons are nice; are those from cosplays or..? o_o''

And don't worry about it; anyone is always welcome to bring up any topic here, no matter how silly or random. :) We're all friends here. (I'm glad you thought the conversation was excellent, though!~ Woohoo for intelligent conversation appreciation.)
You're always free to mention your 2 cents at any time, there is no rush, by the way. :)

Omigosh, I recently saw your CR Mafia comic thread and I am amazed at your Layton drawings, in particular. They look AMAZING! (Like, could-be-official-art-kind-of-amazing.) I would love to see inked and colored versions. *___*

Oy, my sincere apologies for this past weekend. I had a crapload of work to finish. >__>;

I finished Gray Godot's wallpaper (again, sorry for the delay!~). Next up is squizzi's set, then Nerd4Noodles (<3 thanks for the support!). :]
I have never watched Gurren Lagann, but I have the episodes available. I just need to find the time ^__^;;

Gray Godot: http://www.box.net/shared/2ndl7x7kr0

I also made a Tales of Vesperia wallpaper for someone (a surprise gift), but then they told me that they don't really use wallpapers, unfortunately. So, I'll host that later if anyone's interested. It doesn't highlight any of the characters -- I only used the gorgeous backgrounds (scenery, etc.) for the wallpaper. It's also darker than normal because my friend had sensitive eyes; I can adjust that if wanted. :) Let me know!

Hello Vickinator, it's nice to "read" you!
Well that has to be me then :D No, jokes aside I would never reject any of your offers...

Okay! I see business runs well, you're still working your arse off with bunches of great signatures, wallpapers, avatars and the likes :D Congrats! Epic win ;) (Do you have something like, duties? xD Or how come you manage to make so much of that fabolous work, must take hours? :D)I personally would like to see the wallpaper which is mentioned above, but which resolution does it have? :D Could be a little problem after all =) It's truly a shame that it wasn't accepted, would probably have increased the number of visitiors. But why did you make it dark - yes I know you've allready given the answer xD - colour is so beautiful and so catchy and so everything that its just needed! COLOUR!! :D Mhh, but I guess I'm not the one to talk here, I'm just writing in plain white not even using a single AA smiley because it bothers me to push them - SHAME ON ME XD Just now I'm asking myself for what purpose I'm writting here (ideas that popped up - may this post be long - may this post make sense - infinite void)

Yes... AND... Anyways have a nice day

Don't worry about me; I have no plans to stop being philosophical. I'd say more now, but I have to get back to reading before I fall behind.

Hi Vickinator!

I don't know if you're busy or not, this is my first time talking with you, and I can't say that I'm not completely blown away by your graphics!

I was just wondering, if you wouldn't mind/if you weren't busy, to make a really simple graphic for me? I find your graphic design very capturing and I was wondering if you could please help design a logo for me?

Just a simple logo, I don't mind for complexity. It's specifically for the Nintendo DS, so the screen size is 256x192 with a centered text of 'B12Core'. Any readable text is fine, any font you may seem compelled to use. I was also wondering if you could see if the total amount of colors could stay under 256, as the DS's color depth is 256 colors. Sorry, if it's too troublesome.

I was also wondering if you could include some sort of circular symbol, with a sort of core? Just a sort of doughnut shape would do nicely.

Thanks in advance! ~B12Core.
