Shrum burst through the door gasping for breath and a tear in his cloak

"I...hate...dogs...." Shrum then sat down on a nearby chair. After about five minutes of silence Shrum spoke up. "Oh right! Sorry, I just needed to catch my breath! I'm Shrum as you may know. Agent of the Ministry of Light. I've come to see how you were feeling, and get some information, if you don't mind me for being blunt....oh Hurbis! What have you two been talking about?"

"Why Orochi seems special? To be honest there is a dark air about him. He is controlling one of the fighters with some demonic treasures, not to mention I know next to nothing about him." Shrum cleared his throat a bit and continued. "I deal with things science and normal thinking can't explain. Most of us fit that bill pretty well sure, but Orochi is different. He keeps talking about this bloodline....It seems you know him, and I was hoping you could just clarify what he is."

"Well, it's not like I expected much else to happen. All I can say is that if he fights us like he did you, we, the remaining fighters, had better be stronger than you were, else he accidentally kill one of us. You wouldn't have to share a recovery room, though, so there is that plus." Hubris said, closing his eyes and making a hands-up shrug position. "Heck, I bet you could even put some wagers out on who will-- oh, sorry, WOULD die first in this tournament."

Hubris usually didn't talk like this. In fact, he was much more of a 'respect thy dead comrades' than a 'mock the hell out of their dead asses' person. Still, he hoped he could try and guilt Sayuka like no tomorrow, even though he had only just come up with this plan about mid way through his speech. He hoped he could B.S. the rest of this; it wasn't ingenuine yet, but one false step and she would more than likely catch on.

"Well... what else is there to do, really, Shrum?" He said, pretending to ignore the fact that Sayuka was also in the room and fully able to listen. "Should we just hang around, or head back and watch the events of the match? You know, I could tell you about a guy I once knew back home who reminds me of Orochi. It's not a happy story in the least, though, but they are almost identical in personas, so it would be pretty interesting."

He then leaned in close to her and whispered in her hear in an ominous tone.

'You know you may fight pretty well, but you can't lie to the eyes of the one who is always watching'

He took a step back and leaned against the wall. "But first, Hurbis, tell me your story. I've heard my share of stuff"

"You really don't want to try any of that stuff, kiddo," Sayuka calmly kept that smile on her face and just folded her arms under her chest, folding her legs as she leaned back against the headrest of her bed, "I'm not exactly someone you can stare into the soul with. And don't play mind games... they don't work on a psychic."

(Hmmm, well, I'm not sure if she's still active. I could ask her what she would like to do if she's around. If she wants to drop out, we'll say MaimJay's character wins so we don't delay the story any further. I'm not sure I want to forfeit her for not being present, because it strikes me as a little unfair.)

'Dammit, Shrum... you went too far. Ah, at least he's eager. And a psychic? Heh, she'd have an easier time as a reader of expressions against me. Who knew that I would keep being so thankful that I had that operation done onto me.'

"Right, well, both of you calm down, it's story time." Hubris said, standing up and putting his arms out as if to hold each person back.

"Feel honored, I hate talking about myself. Anyways, I gotta abridge it, you know, for safety's sake, but to put it simply, I met a friend once." He said, opening the story slowly, to build tension. "He was a regular badass of sorts-- that is what strikes me as being in the same boat as Orochi, his attitude and atmosphere, so to speak. I only knew the guy for a short time, mainly cause I was the newest to a group that he followed with, and I only got lucky to stumble into it. There were several fights and lots of tension, and he always held the highest position of power, so to speak. That is, he usually didn't get involved until it seemed like something really bad was about to break out. He kept us safe by providing shelters and firearms, and seemed like he cared, even if only a little. Basically, he was somebody reliant, and somebody you would not wish to have their cunning and ferocity against you."

He paused for a second, then continued.

"Yet, for all his good deeds and apparent goodness... the exact moment things suddenly became a hazard, he bolted. Not just ran away, and it wasn't that he got into some bad situation... apparently he was a wanted man, and the crimes he committed were on par with destroying the world and then some. His rough humanism altered to some sort of malevolent sadism the exact moment those against him appeared, and he turned on us in less than a heartbeat. Frankly, I would have had no regrets ending him myself... but... his fate is not important. What is, is the kind of men people are."

The seriousness in his voice lifted. "But hey, I could be completely wrong about what I am saying. I'm kinda paranoid, I suppose. Home had that effect, and I'm still amazed at how laid back everything is here."

((In case you are wondering about that 'operation' he mentioned, that would be foreshadowing, related to something I'm gonna bring up sooner or later. Don't worry about it, regardless.))

"I see..." The psychic fighter nodded as she listened in on Hubris' story, "Well, if you're paranoid... I really can't tell you much about Orochi even to calm you down. Not that I'm keeping secrets. But there's some things that people aren't supposed to know. You know that one thing Aesop said, yes? "Ignorance is bliss"? Sometimes that reigns true.
Even if I did know, I don't know things deep enough to really explain them. So I'm not that good a lead on Orochi or his activities."

"It's not that kind of paranoia (maybe I used the wrong phrase). More of an... extra sense for danger, rather than a fear of possibilities. So far, I am running a score of all-to-two on my correct guesses, and both were my own fault."

He gave a grin, and there was a slight sparkle in his eye. He had enough to guess from, especially seeing as he could still remember the circumstances of how he met her. He was certain that she was lying through her teeth. Still, without the right tricks, you couldn't get somebody to spill the truth willingly, and she was already in recovery, so it was next to nil.

"You can thank me later for visiting. Maybe we can chat about things later-- life, the universe, whatnot like that. Just promise me you'll cheer me on in my next battle-- it's no fun to fight without support and reason."

You are gonna win for sure!...OH! and one thing before I forget...man I hate giving these out so much, but it may help you feel better!" He reached into his cloak and pulled out the old sack. He reached in and pulled out a red cross with many ornamental designs on it."This doesn't really have much mystic power, but any thing to help ya know!" He put it on the table. "Well I'm in no rush, so...I could sit for a while. Talk about things beside Orochi...Unless you wanna go Hurbis?"

Sayuka lifted the cross up with her mind, a use of telekinesis of sorts, and gently tossed it back over to Shrum. Knowing him, he'd likely catch it in midair.

"Hey... keep your gift. Don't worry, I don't need it," Sayuka then said, "It's better that you keep it. You may need it sometime. You never know.
By the way, Hubris... yeah. I'll be sure to cheer you on just the same. I'm sure you'll do well even in the intense heat of battle."

Shrum caught the cross with a smirk "I'm beginning to like you." He put the cross in his cloak "Either way I might as well share considering I have talked about my past in a fairly vague way. It's not the happiest story, but you may learn something." He sat down and took a deep breath "As you can probably tell, I'm not an average person. I have a special gift...or a curse...at this point I'm not sure..." he looked down "I wasn't born like this of course. A used to be a mystic...sort of. I didn't really have any special powers other than some slight healing. I was however much stronger and faster than most of the other mystics. There were a few other mystics like me, but it was very uncommon....we finally found a large place to settle down, but I couldn't stay long. I had to leave for about a month to investigate some activity in Madernia, a small city in China. Once I returned things were better than ever!" He then had a sadder tone to his voice "For about a week at least...You see the purpose of the group was to protect the world from anything we could. From average fires to a corrupt mafia group supplying the world with henchmen. The Hades corps if you will. The "Heroes" didn't like us taking away their "Business" so they asked the corporation to...well you know" He sighed sadly "There were about four survivors including me. Two were crippled and couldn't continue, one was my doctor, and me...my eyes were shot out and replaced with the eyes you see before you. The rest is far to long to go into, but I'm pretty sure you can guess the rest." He then shed another blood red tear and looked down once more. "Now I have to change the world...so that kind of shit never happens again"

Lydia still remained curled up in a corner on the bench, shivering like mad. She was white, and she felt terrible, like she was in a nightmare she could never awake from...

She could feel her pulse had intensified...allowing that bear to merge with her was a terrible mistake. The blood was moving swiftly through her, and slowly taking control...the next match would be terrible. She could tell that, for sure.

And...Orochi...the very though of that man petrified her...tears actually began to fall down her face as she pictured him.

Well, it's been a few days, and I still not have heard back from Lida. As much as I don't want to do this to the person, and as much as I don't want this topic to die just because one person is gone for too long... MaimJay's character wins.
