Hum... the DVD of the orchestra concert of last year is available on Play-Asia, so I think hope this musical will also be available too.
It's not as if there wasn't any single hope ^^
Of course, there will still be the fansub option left, but I'd really like to obtain this DVD legally... it's just I'd like to thanks Takarazuka troup (in advance, I know ^^)
So... we'll just have to pray for P-A to provide us with some DVDs of this musical ^^

Edit : oh, I almost forgot...

I personally don't care about subtiles, because for me the appeal is in the way the songs sound, they way the dancing looks, the costumes, the set, the attractive actresses, and so one. I don't really care about the story, and I'll be able to get the gist of what's going on just from the body language of the actresses, the inflection of their voices, ect.

And if I'm curious, I can just read the summary or something.

The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that I doubt that a legally-obtained copy of the DVD will play in my DVD player. I bought the concert DVD last year from Play-Asia, but then I realized belatedly that there is the matter of DVD regions to be taken into account. ORZ.

Takarazuka is very picky about where DVDs are sold. The only other place I have seen Takarazuka DVDs sold outside of their own websites (that ship overseas) is a German site called Sound of Music, which seems to really only carry the zuka adaptations of fairly famous western musicals. Yet they are very much overpriced.

I'm right now awaiting my latest package from Japan that include Nanaho stage photos from Phoenix :)

Edit: Takarazuka dvds are region-free (with the exception of some random older ones)

Yeah, same thing for me. Even though I'd still appreciate it if there were some subtitles and wouldn't say no to them. ^^

Well... hopefully for me, Europe and Japan shares the same region (Zone 2), however, I believe it's Zone 1 for US DVDs, right ?
But normally, most DVD readers included in laptops are region-free, and can read all DVDs from all regions (I order the 1st DVD of Flag on Play-Asia, the US Version and therefore Region 1, and I had no problem reading it on my laptop). But I also believe there's a way to 'un-Zone' your DVD reader to make it region-free, but I absolutely don't know how to do that...

I agree with crouton, those pictures are soooooo nice. It just makes me want to watch the whole opera right here, right away xD
I was a bit affraid when I learned that it would be a female-only opera... but actually, even male characters (played by women, now that's interesting :p) are awesome (which was the only thing I thought would spoil the whole thing).
Each time I see new pics/videos, I realise that they sure did one hell of a job ! Congratulations to the whole troup ! :gant-clap:

Of course, pics are nice but... I'd really love some more excerpts of the opera :gant-clap:

I'm still annoyed at Phoenix's hair though PMSL! They even got Charley the plant, they could at least dye his her hair black or sumfin! :redd:

*laughs* I should tell Nanaho that in my next letter. She will be amused the men love her Edgeworth just as much. Nanaho is a very attractive woman in her own right, but she certainly has a special something as Edgeworth.

Great photos!

I just gotta say that as as much as the Phoenix in this play doesn't look like Phoenix... I still love the way she looks. I guess the look grew on me. And even if the costume isn't very Phoenix-like, judging from the clips I saw, I thought her acting was very Phoenix-like. And that's what really matters.

Damn it, I want her autograph! Or to go on a date with her, whichev. And I can't even remember what her name is, ahahahaha I'm so lame.

And it's the same thing for Larry, but in the video this time... when she he's talking to himself xD
Did I say I was REALLY looking forward to seeing more of this 'opera' ? ^^
I hope all the songs are as good as the one we've seen so far.

Oh, and I want to see Edgey dance and sing... man, that's just... too awesome to be talked about xD
I'd love to see a joke about this in a futre GS or GK game... something like a small joke...

Or maybe...

Spoiler:
:garyuu: Oh, but did you know Edgey as actually an opera actress... yeah, you heard me right... I DID say actress... and she uses to dance and sing too !

I hope this isn't a problem but I mentioned this site (vaugely) in my letter to Nanaho and some of the reactions. Though I kept it clean *laughs* marriage proposals were kept mostly intact ;)

Though I'd encourage anyone to write as well! All the takarasiennes could use support! Plus, it would be good for Capcom to see positive encouragement.

I don't think anybody here really mind your 'vague' mentioning of this site.
Since I believe most of the girls out there would do anything to meet the best Edgeworth ever (which can be found in this play ^^), if their messages can, at least, get to her, well... I'm pretty confident they wouldn't mind :edgy:

Man, I just can't believe it... each time I come here, I just but can't help myself watching the excerpts of the opera that were given in this thread.
To watch Edgeworth singing and dancing is just too awesome xD
And the rest of the opera sounds so nice... oh, I really want some more excerpts ^^
And the end seems so exciting (the last song, where everybody's singing).
It must have been a wonderful time ! I hope the public was singing too :edgy:

At least, they would have (almost) all the people on that thread present ! :D

Oh, and I have another question... well, 2 actually.
How long is the opera ?
And will a CD of the songs ever be released ? :garyuu:

And you can count on us to support the troupe ! :jazzedgy:

Trust me I have been watching the clips none stop ever since I had access to them. My best friend went to see it and she came out with sparkles in her eyes. My club (biasedly I admit) wouldn't stop mailing me with choruses of "cool~" and "kakkoii"

Oh we would all love it~ Sadly they haven't had a representation here in the States since the 90s. Also they are pretty booked up for the rest of the year. Cosmos Troupe starts rehearsals for another play a few days after Gyakuten finishes.

L~A wrote:

A show usually runs around 2 hours, with a 30 minute intermission. Not including how ever long it takes for the audience to let them get off the stage~ heh. On DVD of course the intermission is left out.

As for the CD they don't release CDs for Bow Hall/Small theater productions usually. The most they do is offer mp3s on Itunes Japan. Which of course isn't that easy to obtain what with Itunes Japan not taking American credit cards. But another site MUSICO will take them, but they are in WMA format which is not so great for those of us with Ipods etc *shakes fist*

But I don't know what they will do for Gyakuten. Its a rather special case, but I don't know how far they are willing to break norm.

Oh that was long X3

Oh really ? (oh man, Apollo Justice starts to have some nasty influence on me xD)
Where can we find the address, so as to write to the troupe ?
And do we have to write in Japanese ? I'd like to write something to show them support, but well... I'm far, very far from being able to write in Japanese, even though I know a little of it.

Waouh, I'm 'relieved', I'm not the only one in that case :p
And your friends were very lucky to be able to see that opera with their very own eyes. Some people are (way) more lucky than others, it seems xD

Oh, and what is Cosmos troupe ? And which play will they start rehearsals for ? Apollo Justice, the Musical ? :gant: (what ? who said I was obsessed with Gyakuten Saiban, who said that ?! :uramidn: )

Yeah, 2h~~
I like when it's not too short ! I was a bit disappointed when I realised the 'Gyakuten Meet Orchestra 2008' CD was only 1h long... ;__;
(By the way, when watching the excerpts, it appeared to me they were using some songs taken from that CD in the opera, weren't they ?)

And 'let them get off the stage'
What the hell is that ? XD
Let them get off the stage ? I believe they should never come out of Japan then, because I just wouldn't let them go off the stage ! :uramidn:
(Just kidding of course ^^) I love the part, at the end of the video, when they keep on re-appearing on stage, just to say 'Nigiari !' with the audience xD

And I hope they will break a lot of norms with this Gyakuten opera !
Like performing outside Japan, release a DVD and a CD available everywhere, etc...
Ok, now I really should stop day-dreaming while writing posts on a forum xD

Oh that was long X3

What ? Your post, or your answer ? (Or both ?) ^^

A total of 10 songs available, each for 150yen and full album for 1200yen.
