I'd never really thought of him as "British" as such (I mean not because of how he acts) - but his "Objection!" and "Take That!" do sound very British while Phoenix sounds more American. If Edgey was British why did he move to LA (in the US/EU version of PW?) Not that I'm saying British people can't live in America.. (I'm from the UK, BTW)

I'm also British.... so I guess I SHOULD know.... even though I don't ¬_¬

His "Take That!" is very much British.
I also see -worth as being an ending for British names (there's a game called Henry Hatsworth coming out in a few days, and it's about a British detective).
Also, Edgeworth likes tea. And he wears a cravat. And the name "Miles" is too sophisticated to be American, in my biased opinion.

Well, he did give up on the gold trimmings and sleeve frills, but he decided to keep the cravat for some reason.
I suppose you have more authority than I do, living as you do in England, but people over here tend to associate Britain with sophisticated dress and eloquent speech, which pretty much sums up Miles' exterior.

This.

The British theme that Edgey has going on is used more for "personality" than "nationality".

In the Japanese version the von Karmas are American (at least Franziska is, they don't really say much about Manfred.)

On-topic, if the accent returns for his "that's it!" voiceclip in GK (the localized version), I think it's pretty safe to say that he's British.

Ah, I see. I think I was a bit confused because there was no quote or anything. ^_^;; So it seemed kind of random to me. Sorry!! ^_^;;

Ooh, I hope the accent returns for GK.

Was Fransizka American? With a name like Von Karma I always thought she was German born, but she sounds American when she does her "Objection!" IMO. Maybe a wee bit of a German accent, I don't know...?
She seemed very young to be Manfred's daughter, Fran is 18 in JFA - how old is Manfred?

I actually think her Objection! was very American. I guess she worked to get rid of her accent - any taint in her speech would be "imperfect."

I don't picture him with a British accent, but rather with the articulate kind of speaking that is common in Europe.

But, I don't picture him with a FULL BLOWN Brit accent. More of like a... Euro sounding accent, but it's not really an accent... does that make any sense? xD

His "Take That" DOES sound British, I have to say...I'm not sure if he IS British, but I think he's at least European.
On the other hand, he doesn't sound British in the Japanese version, so maybe it's just in the American version...^^

That totally makes sense. I know exactly what you mean. I'm here at a school with students from all over the world, and depending on where they learned their English, they have different accents. And this German girl, the way she speaks, it does sound somewhat British so... totally makes sense. ^_^

I've heard that accent too. The one I heard was very faint, but definitely not an American accent.

The accent. The tea-drinking habit. The elegant-ness. The gentleman manner.

IT'S SOO BRITISH.

I've been raised around American-accent speakers and foreign people said that my accent is very American. To me, his "objection", "hold it" and "take that" sounds very British because everytime I try to copy his way saying those, I have to give extra movement to my lips like speaking in British accent.

In Global class a few days ago, we were discussing the parallels between Greece/Rome and Britain/America. Even though Rome/America is more powerful as a country, they're very sensitive to what Greeks/Englishmen think about them, as Greece/Britain is considered to be more cultured and of higher society.

I question, has anyone in this forum actually been to England? Trust me, we are NOT higher society and you are NOT missing out. (well, if we are higher society, then i weep for American culture).

Well he must've picked up some sort of accent somewhere, seeing how he's traveled to Europe quite a lot. I don't think he's actually British, though.

But that's assuming that he lived in America until the DL-6 incident.

Yeah that's why I always thought he was American..... but who knows where he lived before then.

Well, he could've been in the same class for years but they didn't notice each other until that whole case thing. I'm pretty sure someone here is going to prove me wrong on that point, though  Still, this actually calls his past into question... Did his dad move around a lot? Did he get a promotion? Did he even live in America (which this entire conversation is about...)?

I have a teacher who's father is british and she picked up a partial british accent from him even though she was raised outside of England.

It's possible that Gregory Edgeworth was british, moved to America, raised Miles until he was nine, died, Miles was adopted by Von Karma who could have left him to study abroad in england or Von Karma could have spoke english using british english. Edgeworth, as he wasn't in america for a long time, would have kept speaking english like his father did.

I don't think the Western localization really put any thought into the voices (this is more apparent in Apollo Justice). I don't think they took the time to hire actual voice actors to do the voices (in the Japanese version they did). I think we juts lucked out in the first few games that the staff members they did pick were decent enough at the job.

I'd have to agree with you, there. In any event, they chose a British-y person from the team.

Luckily, I absolutely adore Phoenix's and Edgeworth's voice (I hope they continue to use these people). Others, as many would probably agree, are not as good. Some examples, in my opinion, being Manfred von Karma and possibly Kristoph.

Kristoph is who I was thinking of as well and maybe even Young Mia, Godot, and Klavier too. However, theirs aren't as bad a Kristoph's, and I don't really have an opinion on Manfred's. I agree that Phoenix and Edgeworth have the best objections, followed by Apollo and Franziska.

^ I hate Kristoph's voice.

And von Karma's is way too deep. Doesn't sound like a real voice to me.

I also love Edgey, Nick's and Apollo's voices. I'm not sure on Klavier's though.

I love Franziska's objection, personally. But one thing that bothered me is that it didn't have enough of a german accent.

I actually really didn't like Apollos or Klaviers. (I can't remember Kristoph's all too well)

Von Karma's voice is spawned from hell. I jumped back and almost screamed when I heard it...

Anyways, I stand midway between Lunaria and Cissy. I think that they paid a LITTLE attention to voice actors. They didn't care enough to ask for high quality voice actors, and instead chose their team for the voices. But I think they spent a while choosing which member would be best for each voice...

I think its because when he says 'objection' he sorta pronounces every letter (Ob-ject-shOn) not exactly british but i think it sounds more Classy... where as phoenix's is more like (Ob-ject-shan) and Franzy is more like (Object-shen).

theres also the matter of that fooofy thing he wears on his chest like a napkin... It still stumps me what thats for.....its not exactly fashionable... but i still cant say thats british...

I LOVE EDGYS "TAKE THAT" (he says it so matter of factly!) :edgy:
