Well, there's a thread for the anime, and here's for the movie.

So far, we just know it'll be out in Japan by January 2010, as announced months ago and confirmed by the two trailers, which can be also enjoyed via the movie's official site.

Rough Translations of what the trailers say (an idea, not actual):

Spoiler: Trailer Nº1
(((A ray (the fish) and a moth are shown. Just in case:
English = Japanese (Romaji)
Ray (Fish) = ei
Moth = ga
Movie = eiga)))
(Puzzle Number 1)
Layton: "Luke, can you tell me what word this animals form?"
Luke: "Yes, Professor, I'll give it a try!"
Luke: "...Eito? ...Ga...ei? ...Ga?"
Layton: "Here's my answer."
(Correct!)
Layton: "Professor Layton: The First Movie"
*Luke and Layton speak*
(2010, only in cinemas)

Spoiler: Trailer Nº2
(Puzzle Number 2)
Layton: "Luke, tell me, what is something using light and shadow and that many people enjoy?"
Luke: "Light and shadow... Light and... shadow... Hmmm..."
Layton: "Here's my answer!"
Luke: "Oh, it's movies, right Professor?"
Layton: "Professor Layton: The First Movie"
*Luke and Layton speak again*
Luke: "Well, here's my answer!"
Luke: "Uh! ...Um, look, it's full of mosquitoes, uh-"
(2010, only in cinemas)

Perfect, Level-5. Now, bring Layton 2 and 3 to America/Europe.

Signed.
The game is fun and - as far as I'm concerned - sold pretty well, so give us the sequels already, damnit.

Yes yes yes! I hope they bring the second and third game to the USA VERY quickly! I loved the first one so much! I would love to see the movie/anime as well. Professor Layton FTW! :will:

Well, dammit. Famitsu says "Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute" to be released in Japan sometime 2009/2010, also part of a prequel trilogy.

Dammit. Dammit. Dammit.

Dammit.

Ahahaha! This is the first I've seen of the trailers, and I can't wait.

At the prequel: ...how many games are we gonna be tortured with before they bring the other ones over here? T~T

I honestly don't care about all this new Prof. Layton stuff in Japan.

I WANT US RELEASES!

They can release as much stuff in Japan as they want, but I can't get it until they translated it into English...

Yey! This movie looks great!I always liked the animation scenes. It would be lovely to see an English version, but I know there's an extremely slim chance that would happen. But hey, anything's possible! :D
BTW, this screen cap from the trailer made me laugh:

Actually, Bad Player, I mostly made this thread based on one idea: "RAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE". You know, rage.

I mean, suddenly, Japan will get a live-action movie, an animated movie and a a 4th, 5th and 6th game, when, oh the irany*, Nintendo of America hasn't even announced the 2nd game to actually going to EXIST somewhere outside the Land of the Rising Sun.

*The "a" is intentional

Well how am I supposed to know this topic was made in RAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE when you obeyed all capitalization laws and didn't use any exclamation points?!

Although I think the 2nd game is definitely getting an international release, since they had that extra thing at the end of the Curious Village...

BUT THE QUESTION IS WHEN?!!?!

Better get some torches to burn the Ark.

The movies will get fansubbed, may even receive an official release, and the games are coming. Just be patient I guess.

I don't understand the rage anyways. Layton's getting more love than AA is, you should be thankful. XD

The fact that Japan has all this Layton stuff and we don't... Japan has 3 games with 2 movies coming and a 4th game announced, and we don't even have a year for the international release of Pandora's Box.

I answered the question with the second half of my post. It shows you didn't bother to read it. :P

But seriously people, why have you been brought up to be this distrusting and impatient? So we don't know when it'll be out, it doesn't mean that we're being screwed over. We have so much too look forward to. Yet we all want it now, and it overshadows the real important stuff.

It's sad really.

Because if it hasn't been announced, all you have is hearsay. If there is no official information, it is best to assume nothing has been done as of now.

Now, to NERD RAGE~ over this is absolutely retarded, true, but still.

D:< PATIENCE IS A WASTE OF TIME. ME WANT LAYTON NOW AGH AGH AGH

:yuusaku:

Honestly though, would it kill them to announce the next one? It's been over a year since The Curious Village was Anglicised, while in Japan the second one came out mere months after the first. Now that they're getting three more on top of the two we don't have, plus this movie, it's a little disheartening. Even angering, in some cases.

It's like standing outside in the cold, looking in through the window at a feast.

However, I'm sure I'll be able to find a subbed version once this comes out in Japan, so I'm not too worried about us not getting the movie. :P

True. So true.

That is the exact metaphor for this situation.

Just because your answer feels better doesn't mean it actually is, you know (But that's the case with everything in life, and I'm guilty of it too.) But yes, I know what you mean. The problem is, Layton sold well. Extremely well. The chances of them NOT bringing it out are pretty small. Also, the game needs more translation than PW does, not to mention they have to hire out the dubbers for the anime sequences and all that.

Personally, my metaphor would be that there's a feast in Japan that you're looking at through your computer screen, that's been covered in wasabe sauce. Sure you can order some of it to be shipped over and reheated, but you won't get the full experience; especially if you don't like (or can't eat) wasabi. XD You have to wait until someone in your country makes the feast for you, and uses mayo instead.

Feast = Layton Games, Wasabe Sauce = Japanese Language, Order & Reheated = Import, Mayo = English Localisation.

Man, I come up with some goofy crap when I need to use metaphors. XD

I just didn't really understand what you meant

Even if they can't get it out immediately, would it kill them to say "We're working on it and hope to get it out QX 20YZ"?

Except then you can make little whimpering noises and when the family turns their eyes towards you you make your eyes grow big and fill with tears. Then, in their weak pity they open the door and let you into their lives, where you will begin to fester until one day you rule every aspect of their existence!

Can't do that with Layton games. :larry:

But me, I'm just glad that eventually, I'll probably have over FOUR HUNDRED more puzzles to solve. Hurray for a plethora of games!

And they fail.

Anyone who's seen Wasabi knows what I'm talking about. Ain't nothing covered in wasabi sauce that's gonna stop THAT guy.

Well, I am too. I'd be happy for an annoucement that they're working on translating the game.
Anyway, let's not get too off topic. What do you think the movie's about.
