I recently uploaded the Orchestra from last year onto youtube, the thing is it had some animation scenes on it (Similar to the ones from TGS.) Now I'm sure we'd all love to know what they're bickering about :P But I need a translator! If someone could write me up a script of sorts so I could add in subtitles, that would be great :) (alternatively, if you know anyone who can translate and would be willing to, please say so.)

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... 7EC50AD0AC

All the parts, of course you can enjoy the music scenes alot :) So yeah hope you enjoy and hope one of you guys can help me out :phoenix: much thanks~

I'll transcribe the dialogue and have it up by tomorrow evening. No promises, but I'll try to translate as well.

I'm sorry, but I didn't realize how much animation there was. I thought it was only in part 9.

Here's parts 1 and 3 (2 had no animation, as far as I can tell).

OK, LET'S ROCK!

CHEERS!

======================

PART 9

ZZZZZ

ON SCREEN

ZZZZ

======================

PART 10

Now our memories _dramatically_ come alive.
Let's listen.

==============================

Part 3, 5:05

Edgeworth
Hearing the music again really is thrilling.
I can remember holding my GBA tightly, my hands shaking.

Judge
It brought back two or three beautiful memories to me, too. The rest I've forgotten, mostly.

Phoenix
Umm, beautiful memories are fine and all, but why was that last song played?

Edgeworth
What are you talking about? That lively tune was your theme, wasn't it?

Phoenix
It's my imposter's theme!

Edgeworth
Now, as the defense's theme has drifted on by, next we of the prosecution would like to present one of our melodies.

Judge
Oh, I've been waiting for this.
Please, let's hear it.

Phoenix
Hold it!
My, my theme goes like this! Um...
Jyan jyan jyan,
jyan jyan jyan,
jyan jyan jyan,
parapa pa, parapa pa.

Judge
So, shall we give it a listen?

==================================

Part 4

Edgeworth
Heard anew, how stirring this piece is - intense yet beautiful.

Judge
It's as though some fighting spirit hidden inside has burst into life and presses on one's heart.

Edgeworth
It's as though it crushes evil as it presses the heart.
The rhythm makes one sense the depth of one's emotions.

Judge
It's like seeing crushing sadness reflected in someone's eyes,
but some slight kindness expressed in their lips.

Edgeworth
It's as though it crushes sadness as it quashes evil.
A bold, fearless melody.

Judge
How does it sound to the quashee?

Phoenix
Please, no more.

Judge
Court will now take a ten minute recess.

Edgeworth
That flood of majestic, heroic sound has made my heart beat a little fast.
It might be good to take a few moments to calm down.

Judge
Everyone, go out and crush your free time.

Edgeworth
While crushing your free time, I encourage you also to quash any evil you might happen upon in the area.

Phoenix
I won't be hanging around out there during recess.

Judge
Recess begins now.

===================================

Part 5

Judge
We shall now begin Part 2 of today's session.

Apollo
The defense is ready.

Klavier
OK, LET'S ROCK!

Judge
Ohhh.
That riff just now was in A minor, right?

Klavier
Ahaha,
I think you're way off, Your Honor.

Apollo
Prosecutor Gavin, today's trial will be decided with music.

Klavier
Oh, with music?
You think you can beat me?

Apollo
We'll each present a piece, and the people in the audience will render their decision.

Judge
I see.
Now then, will the defense please present its piece?

Apollo
The defense presents a suite of Gyakuten Saiban 4 music.
A full course meal flavored with the spice of turnabout!

Klavier
Then the prosecution presents a villains' medley.
A cocktail featuring the rogues who livened up the courtroom and flavored with their tears.
Won't you join me in toast? Cheers!

Judge
Hmm, this seems to have become a battle of songs.

Apollo
Team Red for my vest, Team Purple for your leather jacket - the red-purple musical duel!

Judge
I don't get it.

Apollo
Then, Team White for 'not guilty' and Team Black for 'guilty' - the white-black musical duel!

Klavier
OK!
We'll see the winner is, as clear as black and white.

Judge
Let's listen to the next two pieces.

===================================

Part 6

Judge
Hearing the court theme brought to life again really turns back the clock for me.

Apollo
It's turned back my hairtennae, too!

Klavier
By the way, the prosecution has summoned a witness for today's court session.

Judge
A witness?

Klavier
Borginia's princess of song -
a lady who paints landscapes with sound.

Apollo
Hold it!
You, you don't mean to perform that unlucky song?

Klavier
Objection!
Don't call it unlucky!
Lamiroir and I worked our hearts out writing it.

Judge
I'm also quite fond of Ms. Lamiroir's signature song. Can we hear an orchestral version?

Klavier
Of course. And now, this week's number one hit:
The Guitar's Serenade!

Apollo
We've gotten onto a different track.

Judge
Performers, if you please.

==================================

Part 9

Judge
For seven years now I've sat on this bench and watched these youngster's inspiring work.
The excellent music the orchestra played today reminds me vividly how they were back then.
I imagine the audience felt similarly.
Today's session is thus concluded.
I'll sit here a bit longer and savor the memory of the concert.

(on screen)
Applaud to wake the judge!

Judge
Applause... applause...
Mo... more applause...

Edgeworth
Hold it!
Your Honor, this special court session isn't over. It can't be over!

Judge
Huh?
That was a dream? I dreamt that there was no applause after the show.

Phoenix
That's a pretty terrible dream.

Judge
So, Prosecutor Edgeworth, what do you mean?

Edgeworth
I - no, we - have not yet heard _that_ song.

Judge
That song?

Edgeworth
Well, I was thinking of all the little kids out there, and we've just got to hear... that is, it's not a big deal to me, but for them...

Phoenix
Edgeworth, so the rumor is true.

Judge
I see.
We seem to have forgotten someone's theme.
Well, let's try to hit one more high point at the end of the show.
Everyone, are you ready?

===================================

Judge
So, what do you think, Prosecutor Edgeworth?
Are you satisfied now?

Edgeworth
Hmm.
If you ask me, from start to finish the conducting was as stylish as my pointing.

Phoenix
Objection!
Um, if I may, aren't you forgetting one more important thing?

Judge
Oh? What would that be?

Phoenix
Hey, it's like you said.
Somebody's been left out, somebody right in front of everyone!

Edgeworth
If you're talking about your theme, I believe we already heard it.

Phoenix
But that was my imposter!
My theme is jyan, jyan, jyan...

Judge
We thank the audience for spending such a long time with us.

Apollo
Everyone, let's meet again somewhere!

Klavier
I'd like to have the next concert in America.

Edgeworth
I'd like it to end with my bow.

Phoenix
Hold it!
Um, may I get in one phrase at the end?

Judge
Oh, you're here too?

Edgeworth
It seems we'll hear that phrase again right now.

Apollo
I've been doing my voice exercises. Let's go for it, Mr. Wright!

Klavier
OK!
It's the end of the show.
Why don't all you out in the audience join us?

Judge
Of course, this is the only way to end.
Let's do it!

3... 2... 1...

OBJECTION!

As always, comments, criticism etc.

Hm, I'm testing out subbing myself and there seems to be a gap in the judge's lines right before he falls asleep in part 9. Between "Today's session is thus concluded" and "I'll sit here a bit longer and savor the memory of the concert." He seems to say something in between that there seems to be no translation for. Is it just a really long way of saying that the session is concluded...?

But still, this is absolutely amazing...! :'D

I had trouble with the sentence I rendered "I'll sit here..."

Here's the original sentence:

Watashi wa = "I" as the subject of the [English version of the] sentence.
Mou sukoshi = "a little bit longer"
Kono mama = "like this" / "in this state"
Kokoro arawareru yoin = "reverberations appearing in my heart"
Itadasete = I couldn't find a definition of this, but I believe it's a polite form of 'to be' or 'to do.'
Itadakimashou = Polite form of "I'll receive."
Taken together, I believe "itadasete itadakimashou" means something like "I'll stay, if that's OK with everyone."

So there you have it. If anyone has a way to improve on the line, please speak up.

I...I was looking again, and I'm so sorry, I made a mistake. It's right after the gavel slam, BEFORE he says that the session is concluded.

But as for the line...maybe "If it's okay with everyone, I'll stay and savor the memory of the concert." ?

The original line is:
and try as I might, I can't figure out what 'しんじ' is supposed to mean. My best guess: "I won't drag things out - the business of today's special court session has been completed.'

Sorry I took so long to respond - I've been quite busy. I wish I could give a better translation to the missing sentence.

Many thanks to you and Faze for your efforts subtitling this.

No, many thanks to YOU for translating this. ♥ Without it, there wouldn't be any way to sub it! And it's okay, from what little I can understand, Japanese is a pretty hard language to translate into English...

Thinking about it...hm how does "All the matters (or 'business') that needed to be attended to in today's special court session has been taken care of (or 'has been seen to')." ?

I'm actually done with the whole thing (I got addicted to the subtitle program) but I just can't figure out how to hardsub the file... ;_;

Sounds ok to me. If you wanted to shorten the first part of the sentence, you could use "Everything on the docket for today's..."

I'm having a remarkably difficult time with hardsubbing the subtitles to the video. :/ Something is wrong with the audio, apparently.

Faze, how are you hardsubbing the files? (I'm not trying to steal your thunder, I promise.)

For hardsubbing I'd use AegiSub to make an .ASS file then use AviSynth and put the .AVS file into VirtualDub.

Faze, I have a lot of spare time on my hands. If you want, you could invite me to do the rest of the subbing. My account is Mephiles602.
