Yeah, it was a big "Save the Planet by shutting down your lights" campaign. In my hometown, the streetlights were switched off from some car roads. I, myself too switched the lights of from my room of course :)

So, anyone?

I didn't do it - These short events don't help the enviroment at all. People should be more aware of real ways to save energy, not some "I'm so enviromental and stuff, I switched my lights off for 5 minutes!!111" stuff ...

I was out eating dinner with my family.

So the lights in my house were off at the specified time.

Therefore: WOO I SAVED THE ENVIRONMENT ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE YEAH

I did do it, but I was the only one on the whole block, there was a football match too, so not many people actually cared.
And it doesn't really help. People switching off their lights for like an hour, you know, it doesn't do much.

i didn't, because i feel that if someone really wants to help the environment they'd make some more serious changes in their life

you know what's better for the environment than turning lights off more often? going vegetarian
as well as carpooling or taking public transportation, and not leaving your heat or air conditioning on all the fucking time

i turned off all the lights in my house (even the ones in the garden and in the swimming pool) but i didn't turn off the air-conditioning (seriously, tropical country heat kills j00) and for one straight hour i just play guitar hero with my maid.

...doesn't really save any energy, no?

At the retraunaunt I was at they had turned off the lights - we didn't sit in darkness there was candle light. ^^;
Also the Suspension bridge was off for a hour and along with some other stuff that was big..

I'd honestly never heard of this.

But I wouldn't have done it. All my electric is from TV, laptop and heater. I only have one lamp on when it's dark so it wouldn't have made much any difference.

And one hour/day/whatever of no lights is hardly going to kill global warming *jus' sayin'*

But of course if people actually cared for the environment, they'd make proper changes (like Gozu said).

I turned all the lights on in my house. Sort of my way of sticking it to the "Man made global warming" "crisis" mass fraud.

I was told it's not suppose to kill global warning it's just that there is the meeting between all members of the EU and that's when they discuss what are the important issues. The people orginizing this Earth hour want to prove to those leaders that the people do care about global warming... - that's what I was told :yuusaku:

Oh hahaha I didn't know that.

But I don't see why we should prove to the leaders that we care about global warming....

If no-one turned their lights off it's not like they'd have gone "oh, no-one cares so lets forget it".

I did the opposite.
When i found out about it (that night) i turned all of the house lights ON, along with several extra electric appliances.

Shit like that doesn't accomplish anything except for giving some greenies the illusion of getting a bigger dick.

So did doing the opposite do the same for you? :V

That's cool, man. Whatever floats your boat, right?

In all seriousness, symbols are nice and all and there's certainly no harm in the idea. It might help raise awareness among people or something? *shrug* As I said earlier I didn't go out of my way to participate, though. Better ways to save energy involve continuous care towards that goal.

I lol'd.

Anyway, my family did it. Don't really see a reason not to. I was out at the time, so it didn't really affect me, but next time, I think the government should have the power stations shut down for an hour. That might screw up some hospitals and shit, but those places have back-up generators, right?

I didn't because I don't give a crap about some insurance company plus I don't remember what day it was anyway. I might do it if it from the government and it was some big thing but from some insurance company commercial um no.
