Oh joy, another news thread.

BBC news wrote:
Pop group Pet Shop Boys have revealed they have turned down a request by animal rights group Peta to rename themselves the Rescue Shelter Boys.

"Peta Europe has written to Pet Shop Boys with a request they are unable to agree to," reads a post on the band's official website.

Peta's letter requests the name change because of the cruelty it alleges takes place in the pet trade.

You'd think that PETA would have more pressing matters to deal with, but whatever.

That can't be real.... :lana:

Aww that's amazing I can not believe PETA :redd:

I had to stop reading their updates on FB coz everytime they complained about something I just wanted to start eating meat again :redd:

If PSB change anything about their name surely it would be the "Boys" hehe

But I do hope this is a late April Fool's joke...

...That's it.

People, take pictures of yourself eating a JUICY MEATY piece of meat (not sandwich, the meat) with your hands, with a "extreme enjoyment" face, and e-mail it to them. Remember, don't ATTACH it, make it be viewable in the message, and remember, camouflage it, that is, change it's title to something neutral, like some numbers. That way, they'll have to see it to know what it contents.

US: info@peta.org
UK: info@peta.org.uk

You may use any of this "Subject"s:

"Animal cruelty report"
"Policy questions"
"I want to join PETA"
"Questions on donations"
"Donations"
"Info"
"Information request"
"Question"
"About this video"
"About this site"
"Is this animal cruelty?"
"Outrageous video"
"Cruelty reports"
"Cruelty report"
"On-line cruelty report"
Or any other you may come up with.

Do it, people, I'm serious. Do it. I'll do it when my dad brings my camera.

Yeah, you'd think so!! Geez, they have nothing better to do. And the Pet Shop Boys have been around for a LONG time now, you think they would have bothered them a little bit earlier about their name.

Hm, would a picture of raw meatloaf on a plate, formed to look like "XD" also work?

Anyway, I'll try my best to show those PETA goons at least a bit of protest. Vegetarians are okay, PETA is not.

They didn't expect them to change their name. They expected to cause controversy, and they succeeded. Theoretically, they thought said controversy would also allow them to raise awareness of the cruelty of pet shops, but it probably didn't, since it doesn't really make the issue clear and annoyed other people.

All that happens is that people become extremely adverse to these kinds of actions, while sometime, long ago, there was a good idea behind it.

They sent a letter. I'm sure they had to focus every single one of their resources on it for many hours, completely stopping everything else they're doing, in order to get it done.

If anyone is to post any of those pics, please add a "NSFV (Not Safe for Vegetarians)" tag to them, and, probably, to the thread. We want to hurt PETA, and just PETA, some people, like Gozu, will find it offensive. Thanks in advance.

I don't think anybody really brought up vegetarianism, I think its just about PETA.

(Also, I'm not being a jerk, because I'm a vegan)

I hope that you don't think vegetarians are all offended by meat because I actually encouraged some these pics LOL

I hate PETA for making vegetarians all look like a bunch of preaching nutcases though.... we don't all think everyone should go veggie.

/lame post.

Vegetarianism is okay. It's a choice in life.

But forcing it onto others is stupid. Especially when it doesn't even have anything to do with it at all anymore and you just go around wanting to change names because of stupid "implications". First 'fish', now 'pet shops'. I can't imagine what's next.

People raising stinks over matters most people don't even spare a glance is nothing new, nor is it particularly surprising anymore. Remember that recent controversy over Dora the Explorer?

Yes. I'd say with ham as well but this is vergetarian we're talking about so we'll go for the slightly less absolutely taste-bud overwhelming option.
