C'mon! We all have great ideas. Some of us just need the "motivation" to carry them out.
Personally, I'd like to see some VG/Anime/Cartoon characters "Wright-ified" - edited PW-style. Not just a simple sprite rip off of another game, but a complete PW character with animations....heck, even a story to boot!
Well, the contest was definitely an incentive to get me to work on a new drawing... but honestly, I don't really care if I win or not. It was fun to do.

This is why I sent out confirmation emails. If you got an email but don't see your work up, it's because you're not a finalist. There were 26 entries in fanart, 22 in sprites, and 6 in fanfiction - cuts had to be made.

Yes, I agree with you with my full heart. Somehow, when I look at the fanart contest entries, there are just bunch of amazing art. I guess then the judges looked more at the fanart than the character itself. The inclusion of several Mary Sues proves it.
And as a whole, yes, the judging gets a thumbs down from me. However, I must see all the leftout contest entries before judging the whole thing.
(And I'm not complaining about my contest entry not being a finalist, it was rubbish, I admit it.)
Anyways, Lynne Ashe gets my vote. Not because I love nowm3, because Lynne has no Mary Sue-traits, which is rarely found in female fan characters nowadays

In the end, this is as much an art (or whatever category) contest as it is an idea contest. Moreso, in fact, because coming up with a character on it's own is not as difficult as putting it to practice, and that's the part we're judging. But believe me, the Judges took everything into consideration when picking the finalists. I really don't want to be rude to the entries that didn't make it, but...I honestly honestly believe that what was chosen is the best of what I received.
(And really, this is an OC contest, after all. The truth is that Sue is part of the territory, you know? There are always going to be Genius Prosecutors, Diciples of Phoenix, Edgeworth's Love Interests, etc. I'm actually surprised I got several entries that weren't direct relations, or relations to minor characters like the Marshalls and Larry etc.)
