TOS is alright. It's got the original characters of course, but the first season is so horribly cheesy and at times it's sorry blatantly pompous and annoying you're cringing in your chair. They got a few brilliant episodes nevertheless.

TNG is probably the best Star Trek. Every character is great (except maybe Troi, but that's just me, and it makes up for it with her mom), Patrick Stewart is absolutely amazing and there's some brilliant episodes.

However, DS9 isn't far behind. It's the old Wild West cast - Sisko the mayor, Odo the sheriff, Quark the barman, Kira the native, Dax the old wise guy, etc. I really liked this series as well.

Voyager I haven't watched, and neither have I watched Enterprise.

I don't understand how people can say the deepest Trek was 'meh'. Are people that shallow? It's like, TNG was the LOST of Star Trek, and DS9 was The Wire. (To me, anyways).

As for the Chocolate Cake Analogy, I was laughing at the fact that Voyager was placed above 'Meh'. I though Voyager was Meh trek. XD

I agree that TNG is the best and to be fair I've only watched a bit of the first season of DS9 so I don't have much of an opinion on it. (Didn't bother with Enterprise) TOS is... TOS. XD But it's enjoyable.

But I think Voyager is pretty awesome.

ANYWAY MOVIE AGH I CAN'T SEE IT UNTIL I GO HOME WHY DO I HAVE EXAMS ALL OF NEXT WEEK RAAAAR

I have one of those old guideline papers for submitting scripts to Star Trek: The Next Generation for official episodes.

They put a lot of emphasis on writing about "family" and "talking" and "being open with feelings" in it.

It's kind of funny.

ds9 is my favorite too, but tinker does have a point that there isnt a whole lot of trekking in it.

I just saw it.

Hoooooooooooly crap. :O

IT WAS AWESOME. It's way more action-packed than ST usually is, but it's still amazing. The casting is great!

Spoiler: Just in case. Not really much of a spoiler towards the movie...
But if you're really confused about storyline inconsistencies when you watch it... there's a reason for it so don't worry. XD

One of the strongest points of DS9 was that every character was interesting; granted, they may not be to your LIKING (for me that would be Sisko and Kira) but they all had a good backstory and interesting character.

TNG had Wesley Crusher

Yes, but they had the sense to get rid of him later in the show.

On the other hand, I was upset when Dr. Pulaski got her role, only to be replaced by returning Beverly Crusher. My one complaint with TNG was that the cast got along much too well, and Beverly was a very uninteresting character. Pulaski was the source of conflict that the series needed.

Oh yeah, that's true. I remember an interview where they said the reason they had O'Brien join TNG (and later DS9) was because TNG's characters were generally "bigger than life", and they wanted a normal dude who everyone could relate to.

I'm going to say TNG was the worst, when it was pretentious or corny. TNG was also the best, when it was pretentious or corny and it worked.

Just saw the new movie! This isn't a spoiler for anyone who's seen a trailer/heard the buzz, but, just in case:

Spoiler: For the easily spoiled
Back in the nineties, several authors did a set of hilarious gag annotations, in the style of the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000 mocking bad Trek fanfiction. The best-known of these fic roasts were of a series of stories where a crew of kids ends up running the entire Enterprise. Of course, this was ridiculous. Cadets running a military vessel? Pretty funny.

It's not "pretty funny" anymore, looking back. Now it's hilarious.

I liked this one in spite of the premise and the villain. Kirk and Spock clicked, and so did Mr. Scott. Best Trek since First Contact.
