Does anyone play the game?

For those of you who don't know, it's a keyboard simulator of Dance Dance Revolution Edgy
for more details, go here. www.stepmania.com

If you do play the game, do you make any simfiles?

I love that game. I once made a smfile for OG Loc's rap from GTA:SA, but back when I made it, I didn't know how to adjust the BPM, so it's not as good.

Takes way too goddamn long to make a simfile that is actually worth it, so no.

And that same reason is why I don't play anymore.

It's ok, but I got irritated with it after I reformatted my PC a long time ago and lost the simfiles I had. They were nice, too.

Confession: I have a Stepmania/DDR obsession.

Have not made any simfiles though, it seems very difficult. A friend used to be very good, but was unfortunately dedicated solely to Russian techno.

There is a program called Dancing Monkeys that can automatically generate step files. It works better for some songs than others, but might be worth a shot.

Yes, Stepmania tends to be amazing like that sometimes. I make simfiles with good steps, but I tend to pick songs that aren't good for simming --. I've been meaning to sim some Michael Jackson or Santana, but I don't have a good music editing program. I'm not trying to sim a full 4 minute song.

Not really worth it. Tried it, but it is much better the ones that are personally created.

Then just generate it using that, and edit it using the built-in simfile editor. It'd at least help out better than building one from scratch.

I love stepmania! And I'm also pretty damn good at it too.

I have made tons of stepfiles also, but they are mostly an edit version of songs you can download on their website.

(I didn´t notice this topic until now!)

I love Stepmania. I´ve had it about 3 years. I have over 600 songs in it and I have made my own pack of about twenty songs. They are mostly game and anime music. I´ve done ALL steps my self and quality varies, GREATLY. Must admit, some of them suck, some of them don´t and some rock.
Many of them are 10-12 feet hard bacause I want to do steps with real challenge. I could try to upload them.

I could say that I´am very good at it with my hands on keyboard. I play it mostly with keyboard but my family also has dance mat so I play songs like 5-8 feet with my legs. :edgy:

Yup, play it here too. Though I suck at DDR, I'm pretty good at Stepmania(I can manage up to 10 feets difficulty). Though it's been a while since I played... anyway!

YES, I PLAY STEPMANIA.

I have NO foot-eye coordination and can't DDR for my life. [Unless on an extremely easy level, or while using a controller.]

I'm pretty good at Stepmania, but my friends have seen me play before, and they say I'm some sort of robot when it comes to it. XD So funny.

Jeez, it's been a while since I've played it, though; Phoenix Wright has distracted me. :P

Nah, I´m just happy with Stepmania 3.9. I tried Stepmania 4.0 demo but it wasn´t nice. I watched that video a bit but colors seemed somehow "boring".

Ooh, Stepmania players! I just love Stepmania. I once played it so much last summer when I first got it. 98% of my simfiles are all anime simfiles (89% of them from a user named Jubo). It's just so fun. I used to stick with Heavy mode 1.5x but then a few months ago I moved up to Challenge mode 2x. Now when I go back I feel the lower levels are too damn slow.

Anyone know of any AA simfiles out there? I only have Steel Samurai, Objection! remixed, and Pressing Pursuit (GS4).

It varies. I'm normally on Hard, unless I've attempted to play the song and failed. XD I can do some on Challenge, but not a lot. [The ones I do on Challenge are mostly Suzumiya Haruhi simfiles, though. XD]

But yeah, most of them are on Hard. [All of them on a speed of 1.5x.]

I'm not really an expert, but my friends absolutely FAIL at it, so that's why they say I'm really good. *shrug*

SAME HERE. Like, all of my simfiles are from Jubo. XD

Holy crap, same with me. Whenever I go back to an easier level or a level that defaults to 1x on me, it's way too slow.

Where'd you get the GS4 and the remixed Objection simfiles? :D

[I only have Steel Samurai and the regular Objection theme, sorry. D:]

I usually do 1,5 or stick with fast songs.

I'm also making my own ~60-song video game pack, so stay tuned. :jake:

I got it in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1881

Actually, my mistake. I was thinking of something else. My Objection! one isn't remixed. It's just, like, the GBA version. :knock-knock:

Oh neat, another Jubo fan. :godot:
