I think it would be better the way you described it, no nametag. (small screen)

doin some works...

Here you go, empty witness stand

Image
and for easy editing... 50% size (as in one pixel is = 1 computer pixel, so you can easily copy it and edit it in paint or something):
Image

here is it's actual data file to view it and edit it in the calculator
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WWYE528E

and a pc app to edit the file on the computer
http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fi ... /3241.html

gumshoe coming soon, and i've gotten autoformatting to work with the text (though it cannot handle spaces correctly when printing it out, as in it can start new lines with a space like:

" this"
instead of
"this"

i've tried fixin it, but i'd have to look at it some more...)

Just move the space above the arrow or something.

TRIPLE UPDATE!

1.
Image

gumshoe sprite finished, and animated (two work with case maker) (Only modification to the sprite i made was a shirt collar)

his file is Pic2

2. changed some of the code around for me to have much easier access for modifying and changing things in the code

3. fixed text autoformatting. now, words that are longer than the space to the end of the line will automattically go on a new line, with correct left justification.

I noticed that the program suddenly breaks after running for a bit, unsure of what the problem is, but the standard accessing line of code i use for the program froze simply when trying to get a substring of the string (after running past a couple of screens worth of text) (invalid dim immediately after or at the end of the print substring str1 command)

so no release... just yet

Alpha 2!!!

AUTOFORMATTING IMPLEMENTED!!!

so now it writes it out on a new line justified left if it cannot fit a word on the end of a line. words too large for a new line anyways will just write out like normal.

It's slower due to programming that needs some cleaning up or because the new structure of the code has it moving around a bit more though the code.

if you want it to stay fast, use the older version, at least till this one is clean up a bit

and now for other stuff to get done...

1. His right hand shouldn't have the weird bump.

2. The mouth looks a little weird.

3. To the left of the spikes there's a missing pixel.

4. Color the top-right and bottom-right pixel of his right hand's thumb, it looks a little better.

5. The fence-thing (I forgot how to talk today) should continue, copy-paste a little of the right side of the leftmost pole and flip it.

6. Just so you know, sprites look a lot better when not 2x size.

7. You should probably put the characterless sprites in the first post...

1. His right hand shouldn't have the weird bump. you mean that single pixel in the up-right corner of his hand?

2. The mouth looks a little weird. yeah... kinda hard to get right now along with the hands. but it will get done eventually

3. To the left of the spikes there's a missing pixel. do you mean the single pixel to floating next to his hair? its a remnant of the shading of the wall, but could be taken out

5. The fence-thing (I forgot how to talk today) should continue, copy-paste a little of the right side of the leftmost pole and flip it.

you're right, that's something i've never noticed before

Image
the pole(s) continue to the desk, which seems to contradict the courthouse scene
Image
which looks just like phoenix's courtroom
Image

i wonder why the pole is missing, and weather i should add on to the left most pole or erase it for Apollo.. or any other Apollo courtroom specific details...

6. Just so you know, sprites look a lot better when not 2x size. it's the default calc screen size... but changeable...

7. You should probably put the characterless sprites in the first post... you mean the empty desks and stand?

1. No. His right hand, our left - it just sticks up weird like that.
3. The floating pixel actually SHOULD be there, but there should also be a pixel above it.
5. Hmm, not sure whether it's better to add on to the left pole or take it out completely - both work.
7. Yes.

The missing pole in AJ could be because it was based on the GBA sprites which didn't have the fourth pole...

Okay. Too OUR left of HIS right spike, there is the floating black pixel. TWO pixels above that, there is more black. In between, there is a pixel of white. That pixel should be black.

It shouldn't... If you look at the background-only image without Apollo in it, you'll see that the pixels alternate from baclk to white on a vertical line. So, we got a white pixel, black pixel, white pixel and then Apollo's head. It makes the single black pixel float, but it's correct.

This may or may not be good enough but...

A little Photoshop goes a long way. As far as I know, this one hasn't already made, but I'm too lazy to read all 6 pages.

too big, it has to be the 96x 64, or the dimensions of this

Image

that's kinda why the scenes need to be stylized a bit...

Resizing it killed the quality, but it might work...

I changed it slightly.
Minor adjustments to the hand made to make it look natural, and mouth closed (the head outline was traced from a closed jaw, that's why you couldn't fit an open mouth).

so let's see... now, i could work on the lobby sprite, a character sprite, another location sprite, or i could work in xlib implementation, for another engine release...

what do ya think i should do?

it makes everything better, more pics (animations too) can be stored, and makes animation (including picture recalling) much faster- used in a similar fashion in another graphic intensive calc game, (which i believe might have also made use of assembly language... which i dunno how to use)

Final Fantasy: Tales of Magic
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0i_bP7h9P4

(EDIT: or perhaps it was used with a library before xlib was created... whatever)

progress with xlib seems pretty good, i think that once all of the commands are converted, then it will run (animate) more efficiently than before. on the plus side, it contains way more graphics tools and can even allow backgrounds, meaning that phoenix's sprite can be separate from a default background.

looking at this, the sprites of the characters will probably be stored separate of backgrounds, since xlib supports sprite masking too. i'll still retain their height and look (instead of taking the full screen) because the text should stay in it's current 2 line height, and if implemented would drastically block sprite detail. this also means that the interjections of phoenix wright "Objection!" would be displayed straight on the sprites behind it, like the game. even screen-wipes to the other ends of the court room is possible, albeit a bit too much to implement...

summer's coming and, should i have enough time and enough focus, i'll implement working on my personal projects such as this for my daily routine... to have a schedule instead of lazy game playing 24/7.. i'll get much more progress done on the game during that time.

Re-did the Courtroom Lobby with the same steps but in a different order.

Like I said, a little Photoshop goes a long way.

Looks better, in my opinion. What do you think?

looks good, may look better with stylization edits, and i'll just see when I actually put it in the casemaker.

right now, i'm working with masking sprites so that I can make something like the objection sprite overlay on the current screen instead of clearing the screen entirely.

nice... the sprite masking technique makes the objection look pretty good, splashing in front of the screen.

and if there was a problem displaying objection in release alpha 2, i've fixed that... i can't remember when i had the problem... or if i fixed it beforehand... but whatever
