Howdy, welcome to my sprite page I made like 3 years ago and never did anything good with it! I'm mostly using this as a place to dump my minor sprite edits that I use for Ace Idiot. Hey maybe I'll try and make an OC one day or something, who knows!?

So yeah, enjoy I guess?

Not A bad edit so far travolta.

Turner: Hang on! I got some change... Right here! OHHHHH!! *Flips off the prosecution* :Kristoph-hair:

The colors on his clothes don't match that of his close up sprite. An Easy fix if you know how to replace colors with Paint using the eraser edit, that I'm so fond of.

WHY!? WHY must you abuse My Ichiru! WHA!!! :zenitora:
He better not shoot any Hair gel in her face! :beef:

Indeed, he is badass.

Yeah, I noticed that after I uploaded it, I was up till 3 AM making this sprite, so I said "screw it" and just uploaded it as a first draft.

UPDATE!

Re-Edited Turner's sprites and added a new pose!

Spoiler:

I also went and started to animate the sprites, but I'm having this problem with these annoying white borders things. Here's what I'm talking about:

Spoiler:

If anyone can help me how to get rid of this problem, don't feel shy to say anything!

GAH YOU USED THE BRUSH TOOL ON A SPRITE.

That's what the dots are.

It would be better if you did straight recolouring rather than tracing.

And always use the pencil tool.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Curse me switching to CS4 and not switching the brush to the pencil!

Must I redo the sprites all over again?

They can be saved. Very carefully cut the antialias off the outside with a hard edged eraser.

They will look better if redone though, as there won't be the thick outlines.

Oh joy, 3 full days of work on these things going right down the toilet...
:sadshoe:
Ah well, I'll make the sprite better anyways going back and redoing it!

So, a no-no on outlining the sprites? (that was also done with the infamous brush tool :yuusaku: ).

Just recolour the existing sprite, you don't need to trace and it'll look better.

Cut out the bit you want with a hard edged eraser, and fiddle with hue saturation until it looks right to recolour in PS easily. Just put each bit on a new layer XD.

So he wears one sleeve long and the other tucked?

Hmm. It might be a good idea to Edit the lines from Apollo's vest wehre yours characters shoulders are, so it doesn't look like he's wearing something over his suit. If you're making it like he's wearing a suit like Phoenix's It'd be best to do that. :godot:

The yellow buttons could use three or more darker shades of yellow, to show detail. :yogi:

I'm not sure his hair should be all black. It might be a good idea to take the colors in Diago's hair and use that. :javado:

You stayed with the same skin color and applied it to Godot's hand in his Objection pose. Kudo's to you! :igarashi: :igarashi: :igarashi: :igarashi: ... Get it...? nevermind...

Talking animation is good. You rememberd to get his jaw to lower one pixel when his mouth is wide open. I See some little sprite pop up's in the back of his neck when his eyes close.

When I use Paint, I stick with using the line tool to draw and edit my sprites. I only use the pencil tool to get in those hard to reach places. *Itch* *Itch* Your choice though, use what you like.

Well, he does look up to Phoenix and be just like him!

I really wanted a shirt under the suit, cuz I was trying to make it seem less like an Apollo edit.

Yeah, I really hated how I did the buttons, I'm gonna redo the hell out of thing. I thought maybe adding some shading in the hair would change that, but it didn't really work out... :sadshoe:

Yeah, I'm not so bad as to have him have multiple skin colors!

Yeah, hair has always been a problem (I've noticed that when I practice aniating other people's sprites.)

I'm actually going to switch back and forth from Paint and Photoshop, mostly just for the line tool.

I use Paint Shop Pro for sprites, and I STILL go into Paint to use the bezier (sp?) curve. XD Neither PS or PSP make a 1 px line so nice.

SilentBob covered most of my suggestions, except I think the top of his lower arm is a little oddly thin, and the lower arm is too long overall. Cool objection pose, though. He'll be awesome when you fix him up!

Maybe he's Stretch Armstrong? I kid, I kid.

I realized he was too thin, I had to take out Godot's puffy arms, but I went little overboard. :payne:

But thank you, and I'll get to work on him quite soon! (Man, I'm really putting off script writing...)

UPDATE!!!

Since I'm completely restarting on editing Turner, I'm going to do his poses in order, so I'm going to start with his normal pose:

Spoiler:
Image

As you can see, it's (obviously) not finished. I've still have to recolor, make a face, and make the hair. I'm taking a break from it right now to ask a few questions:

1. How should I outline it? Using the Pencil Tool, it only makes 1 color, it's supposed to be a few colors in the outline, right?
2. His head doesn't seem to fit naturally on there, I'm not sure which Polly head to use (not using the document one because he's looking down).
3. What color should his suit be? I like the blue and all, but it seems like I'm just making an Apollo color swap edit with new hair, but I kinda want to show his devotion to Phoenix at te same time.

Also, if there are any problems with how the sprite looks so far, please tell me (I'm sure you all would anyway).

1. You should use the pencil tool to make a neat 1 px line, then smooth it out with the other colors pixel-by-pixel, like this: http://www.natomic.com/hosted/marks/mpat/aa.html
It seems daunting, but really takes no time at all once you're used to it.

2. If you want to make the head fit, try swapping out the collar.

3. I think a duller blue than the original one would be nice, like a kind of slate color. But with a pink tie, for Phoenix. XD
If you want to make it less like Apollo, there are lots of things you can do. There's lots of kinds of suits!
For one, you can remove the lines at the shoulders where the vest ends and get rid of the dark section on the back. Those are some of the tell-tale sign of an Apollo edit to me.
You could move down the pockets. Most suits are longer than Apollo's vest.
You can change the number of buttons (which you did on the original) and, if you're feeling adventurous, the lapels.

Just some suggestions. XD' So far so good.

Yay! Thanks for the tutorial!

Yeah, I really don't llike the really bright blue. I'll go duller, but not as dull as Phoenix's. Pink tie FTW. :phoenix:

Oh yeah, I made like a suit-vest hhybrid by keeping those lines there! So making the section on the back a darker section of blue should be taken out completely? That makes sense.

The pockets...hmm, I'll make an ATTEMPT, but his confident pose where he puts his hand in his pocket will be a bit more difficult... At the moment, seeing as these are my first sprite edits, I'm not feeling ver adventurous, plus I like Polly's lapels. :odoroki:

Appreciated help is appreciated!

Almost finished with the first remade Turner sprite.

Spoiler: Turner so far

As you can say, all I gotta really work on coloring his buttons, possibly making a bit more outline editing, getting rid of the bracelet, and...THAT FREAKING ARM!!! How do I go about editing that arm to make it not look like he has a fat arm!

I know I'm asking for help so much, but I just wanna learn! :edgy:

I think you should rethink the outline colours. Try making them considerably darker versions of the rest of his colours.

SHIT, I just exited out of Photoshop without saving the file with layers! Damn, I'll just edit it somehow, I'm sure I'll manage!

Yeah, it seems to me like he was cut out from something, so I see what you're getting at.

Would that help with the arm at all?

It looks like you're still using the brush tool; a lot of the lines are blurry.

The only problem with the arm is that you edited out the line where it overlaps his side. Put it back and he'll be fine. n_n

Actually, I'm using the Pencil tool, I'm just using the Blur tool.

Do you mean like the circle where his vest ends?

Ach, the blur tool is worse then the brush! XD'''' You're specifically trying to avoid blur, that's why pencil was suggested.

Kind of. The line where his vest ends and the outline of his arm are seamless. ^^'''

Really? I must have read that tutorial very wrong, so the blur tool adds the white outlines like the brush tool?

Hmmm, I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about, is there a way for you to show me?

Sure, sorry I'm hard to understand. >w<''

Something like that.

The blur tool will add white outlines worse than the brush. (See the black blob around him where I deleted the background?) What the tutorial was trying to say is that you manually add the lighter colors at the "steps" of the line... They really used way too many shades. AJ sprites usually use 2-3 for lines. I tried to make an example there on the far right, sorry it's not great, my mouse just died a few minutes ago. XD"'''''' ::is using her tablet pen::

Ah, now I see what you're talking about! Sorry, I don't learn as well with written directions as well as visuals, which is probably why I didn't understand the tutorial. Alright, that does sound a bit more tedious, but hey, if it makes the sprite great, then I'm all for it! (Now I really regret not saving the Photoshop copy, well, back to the drawing board).

Now I'm starting to see why so many people choose Paint over Photoshop...

You should have recoloured and edited, rather than repainted. It will look more official, and spritey.

I suggest trying paint spriting, if only for a couple of sprites. Then you can get used to the spriting mindset, if you know what I mean.
