Listening to Austin's melody, Zoey felt a fierce determination to try to refrain from drinking human blood any more. The spirit arrived uncalled for and washed around her, filling her with hope. Embarrassingly, her eyes filled up again and she was up in a flash, suddenly hugging Austin gratefully, ignoring the almost painful heat.

Austin smiled as Zoey hugged him, grateful he had helped her. He hugged back tenderly, no wanting to make her die from the heat. It felt like Zoey was a block of ice, and Austin shivered a little, but he didn't pull away, able to stand it.
"Austin...Thank you," Jeremiah whispered in Austin's ear. "You and I...We're not really so different after all." Austin hugged him before he could continue. He felt Jeremiah stiffen under his touch, but he eventually hugged Austin back. "Come on. We still have a long ways to go."
Austin smiled at the memory as he kept hugging Zoey.

Zoey took a deep breath and wiped away the remnants of her tears, skin tingling from the heat. She turned away before looking back, her face its usual emotionless self.

"You will not tell anyone of this," she said, before taking off for the cave again.

Austin smiled and shook his head before chasing after Zoey, catching up after one bound.
"I...Can't believe I almost did that," Austin said. "I...You will not tell anyone about this, Bloodsucker."

Zoey looked at Austin running alongside her thoughtfully. She'd met a lot of werewolved in her time in the game, and though none had been openly hostile spare a few, they were never this...open. Or tolerant. She looked away quickly as Austin's eyes flicked to her slightly, her face red.

Austin noticed his eyes drifting towards Zoey, who met his glance for a second, then looked away. He had met many vampires on his journey, and considered himself lucky he met her and Jeremiah. Two completely different vampires, yet both were pleasant to be around. He looked away from Zoey, trying to concentrate on the many interesting smells around them, rather than thinking about Jeremiah and how he had died...

When the cave came within sight, Zoey stopped and sighed.

"...It will be difficult if I go in. I will stay here from now, as was first suggested."

She turned to Austin, reading his pained expression.

Austin quickly smiled, trying to cover up his feelings.
"I'll stay with you of you wish it," he responded.
"I shall stay with you if you desire it," Jeremiah's voice echoed through Austin's head.

Austin smiled back. He realized he wanted to stay with Zoey for a while longer for reasons he couldn't explain, even to himself.
"I'm staying. Those guys are strong and smart. They'll be fine without me," he said. He wagged his tail. "So, now what?"

Zoey had just rushed off towards Tepple ((This is before that vampire-werewolf friendship scene)) with Austin quickly bounding after her.
"Ha... I guess we should be glad we didn't head to that village first, eh?" Jay commented with a slightly-nervous, yet relieved tone, laughing afterward.
"Yeah. I feel sorry for vampires. I mean, with some, they'd stop themselves if they could, but in any case, to have the burden of the insatiable appetite for blood... human or otherwise..." Jeremy said, philosophizing aloud.
"Though really, it's a game... You can choose to be what you want to, but... I guess some are willing to gain the boosts in exchange for that unquenchable craving," Jay thought aloud, looking around.
"Who really thinks about it, though? I mean... people didn't think they'd be stuck here... This was supposed to be a thing with which to pass the time... or was it? This being a (well-crafted) virtual reality game has left me wondering about its intentions," Jeremy replied.
"Does it have to have intentions...?" Jay wondered upon Jeremy's theory.
"Hm..." Jeremy couldn't help but ponder it, "Damn, man, this is tough stuff to be thinking about! Why do we think about this stuff, anyway?"
"That's just another one of those questions, Jer," Jay replied. He was all too familiar with that type of questions; the ones with no discernible (at the time) answer, which could really have no answer at all or simply 'because'. "Well anyway, we can stand here and talk about all this, or we can realize we've been standing here for an hour and not leveled up a bit," Jay finally suggested.
"Good point. Shall we go fight some easy monsters?" Jeremy asked in agreement. 'Don't worry... They're just lines of code and polygons. They don't have a soul...' Jeremy thought, trying to curb any second thoughts he might have about killing monsters, '...Unlike us players. We may have been given the polygons, but we're our own script.' The brothers began walking into the cave, searching the area for something to try out their spells on. Just then, they saw Zoey and Austin come back, seeming to have resolved something. '...A nice person... for a vampire. A nice person for a vampire. A nice person...' That thought kept going through their heads while they looked back. "Vampires or not, good people are good people," Jeremy muttered.
"Indeed, brother, indeed," Jay replied as they continued to search the cave entrance.

((The next post I do will most likely be the brothers' first battles and some leveling, giving time for others to interact with us beforehand.))
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Zoey sat onto the ground delicately, reaching a hand up to run a hand through Austin's fur. It calmed her to have something to occupy her hands.

"Now...we wait for them to finish leveling, I presume."

"Yeah," Austin replied, smiling down at Zoey. His fur being stroked was one of those things that felt great for unknown reasons to him, much like sticking his tongue out when running at full speed. ((RPer's block. O_O))

"I'm...fine~" Nina looked up, smiling at the warrior. Her wings were dimming colour however, and her voice seemed a little raspy.

It took a while to clear her mind so she could think straight; as she stood up straight, her wings still lacking in their radiant shine, she noticed a faint light coming towards them.

"What...is that?" She whispered. As the light came closer, she could see it was exactly what the warrior was looking for; a Glowing Pixie.

Suddenly, there was a loud rumble, and dust shook from the cave ceiling. Then, there was a crash as several rocks fell from above.

Nina could hear the flapping of wings as a giant, furry bat descended through the roof, with black fur and dark giant wings. The Glowing Pixie was directly in front of it, and the creature immediately launched it's mouth at the poor thing, eating it.

Then, it turned it's eyes upon the group in front of it, and bared it's teeth. Clearly, it wasn't satisfied with it's snack. Now it was ready for a full course meal.

"Sounds like trouble!" Austin yelped, hearing the commotion from the cave with his wolf ears. He almost ran in there, but then he stopped to think.
"I'll wait until I'm sure they need us," Austin said. "I'll be able to hear if anything goes wrong." With all those angels, demons, and humans, Austin was sure they could figure something out. He stayed by Zoey instead.

Ronan was quite relieved when he heard the angel was fine, and drew closer to her might fall again after standing straight. But then, he followed her eyes when she whispered, and was breathless when he saw the Glowing Pixie. He wasn't expecting to see her heading for the entrance, they were usually shy creatures that lived well in the dark, due to their natural ability. But he was expecting even less that a giant bat came from above after some rocks crumble and swallowed the pixie whole. At first, he was startled by its size and sudden appeareance, until his mind processed what had just happened. It had eaten his mission. Therefore, he had just...failed?

"Damn!" Ronan exclaimed, angrily. But the creature had just dashed towards them for more. Ronan tightened his grip on the sword's handle. As the bat came closer, Ronan advanced and attacked it with an upwards slash as soon as he could, which made him ascend slightly and preventing him to charge the others for now, but the wings' flap resulting from this change was strong enough to knock Ronan to the ground. "Oof!" he complained, as he tried to get up again and look at where the bat was now. It had made its way over everyone and was now turning back, ready for another attempt.

Zoey jumped to her feet, hungry for a battle.

"No, we should join them!" she said a bit too enthusiastically. She smoothed her features and turned back to Austin. "I...It will help to have something to focus on," she admitted sheepishly.

Elaina ran to the cave as well, hoping to find anyone she knew there that needed help. Instead she found many people she didn't know and a monster. "Oh well," she said, "At least I can level myself up some."

Zoey gritted her teeth, feeling somewhat betrayed at Austin's lack of reply. She cast him a meaningful look and ran into the cave at top speed, a red smudge. She leapt up with the momentum of her run and landed on the back of a giant bat which immediately began trying to throw her off as she sought a good place to cut.

"A giant bat?? I'm surprised I didn't remember that one lived here...!" Cody said, jumping in place at the beast's appearance. He had been around this area plenty of times when he was younger, and it was quite the oversight. Giving himself a second to count, he figured his services weren't needed with the number of players around to attack it.
'Giant bats are a boss, but this is the beginner area-- they'll be fine.' He thought to himself. Even still, he kept a tight hold of his sword-holder, not relaxing for a moment.

Zoey finally found a tender spot at the back of the bat's ear and sliced it open with one fingernail. The bat screeched with pain, and Zoey nearly lost her hold on it as it flapped around, trying to throw her off. She took full advantage of her vampire strength to hold on, but it still wasn't quite enough. She summoned the spirit for aid, and a fierce determination coursed through her as she tightened her grip on the bat, lowering her mouth to the cut and beginning to drink. It tasted foul, for blood, but it was still good to her.

Austin realized he was alone before long. He realized that while he was daydreaming, Zoey must have joined the fight. Austin didn't want to join the fight because he felt there was no point in him joining unless he had to. He was already at a very high level, and the reason they went to the cave in the first place was so those with little experience could level up. But Austin couldn't stay away. He bounded into the cave, ready to fight. He felt a little weaker without the moon shining on him, but he didn't care. He saw Zoey clinging to the vampire, drinking its blood.
Get off, please, Austin thought before pouncing. The bat toppled under his weight, and he pinned the creature to the ground by its wings. It struggled and screeched.
"Whoever needs this experience the most better get rid of this thing. I can only hold it for so long," Austin said as the bat bit one of his legs in an attempt to force him to let go, but Austin kept his hold on the creature. "Quickly now."

Zoey tore herself away from the beast's blood, heart leaping at the sight of Austin joining the battle for some unknown reason. She staggered backwards, wiping her mouth and pausing, before licking the rest of the blood off her fingers, sucking on them gently as she swept the room with her now dark red eyes to see who would join the battle.

The brothers were just about inside the cave when, with a crash, they saw the giant bat come flying down, eating the glowing pixie in front of it.
"Wh-wh-what? No way!" Jeremy gasped, taken aback.
"This? Already? We haven't had ONE battle yet!" Jay nearly shouted, shocked at the sudden appearance of this 'boss', "But man, if we get in on the battle, that'll be quite some experience! One-battle level-up, possibly."
"Alright. Shall we try it?" Jeremy asked, calming down a bit. Jay nodded, and they ran into what they thought of as the 'battle area'. 'Alright. Plan of action: I use an attack-up spell on you, then you give it your best shot, 'kay?' Jeremy thought, making the plan of attack as they got into their stances.
'Roger! Go ahead, I'm waiting,' Jay replied, trying to remember his spells' motions. Jeremy flexed his arm, the bracelet beginning to glow a radiant white. He pointed at his brother and muttered, "Give him strength!" A white aura circled Jay and he felt a surge of energy. His bracelet started pulsating. "Time to give this guy some shock treatment!" Jay quipped as he put one foot back, also bringing back his right hand. He didn't know if the electricity would spread to Austin, so he motioned with his other hand for Austin to let go of the bat. A bit of blue electric energy appeared in his hand and he shot it forward towards the giant foe, the bracelet flashing white before dimming back to a mellow blue glow. The electricity arced straight at the bat, hitting it head on. Jay said, panting, "Ha... Damn that felt good!" as he heard the bat screech in pain, its muscles convulsing because of the surge of electricity. Jay was hoping Austin didn't get hurt if he'd not been able to let go. ((Austin can choose whether he let go or continued to pin down the creature and whether the attack hurt him too or not (probably not much if at all, since he's so much higher in level).)) Jay was still in battle stance, ready to charge up another attack if the bat wasn't down. Jeremy also thought of what spell he'd use this time, or whether they should attack to conserve SP/MP/whatever this game used as "magic energy" (unless everyone can have their own measurement of casting ability).

((Wow, that was a lot for a simple round of attacks, wasn't it? ...Hm, oh well. I didn't "kill the bat in one blow", so I think I did it right.))

((Eh, is it alright for my move to be executed more or less at the same time Jay and Jeremy are charging up their magical powers to make their move?))

S-Such power! Ronan thought, in awe of the werewolf's strenght, when he pinned the giant bat down to the ground with relative ease. He was confused by the werewolf's words, though. He asked anyone that needed the most experience to finish it off, so more of them were beginners, aside from the two magicians that arrived later? He should have guessed since the group was stationed by the entrance, beating up the moles there and all.
So Ronan hesitated in advancing, after all he wasn't part of that group and didn't want to "Kill Steal" the area's boss, until he saw that the bat was still struggling to his last and bit the werewolf. This made him advance upon the bat and pin its head against the ground with his free hand.

I can do it...I remember how I trained this... Hopefully it will work out here... And I'll even get the chance to impress the people here, he whispered as he focused, despite the fact that the bat was still struggling to his last. Ronan's intention wasn't killing it, but preventing it from damaging the werewolf or anyone with those teeth again. "Freeze!" he uttered, and several shards of dark-blue ice formed a semicircle around the bat's head. It was supposed to hold it on the ground, but he didn't stay for long: the bat was still struggling and managed to break free from the ice and bite Ronan's hand.

"A-Ah!" he quickly swung his sword against the bat for him to let his hand go, cutting its ear clean off in the process, and triggered another screech. Ronan retreated against the cave's wall and glanced at his wound. Besides the teeth marks and blood, his palm was redder due to the direct contact with ice. It always happened when he tried to use close-range magic. Quickly after checking, his eyes scrolled on the bat's direction again, and from there to the others that were present at the cave, both to check if they would advance already and worried to see if they were looking at him in disapproval because his move had failed. Damn it... I-I must think a bit more before advancing. Then he saw Jay and Jeremy executing magic movements he knew well, since he had studied something. A jolt of electricity soon pursued the bat, and it was a successfull hit, noticeably due to the muscle convulsion through its whole body.

((OK, now it's me that is writing too much... so sorry. xD))

((It's alright, Aliucon. Need to warn all of you that I won't be here for a couple days. I'm going to be taking a little vacation. :D))

Austin kept hold of the bat, feeling a little shock as the electricity hit it. The bat convulsed violently, but Austin didn't let it go.
"Keep it up!" Austin shouted over the bat's screeches. The bat bit at him more, but it barely hurt. In fact, it was the screeching that Austin could barely tolerate with his sensitive hearing. But he knew he had to keep hold and let the others finish it. Letting everyone else level up was so much harder than just killing the thing.

((@Aliucon: We're beginners, too, remember. But I guess your character doesn't know that, right? Also, that's fine; the timeline can be "altered" a bit there.))

"Not bad for my first ever attack, eh?" Jay asked happily, rubbing his hands together, a few sparks flying between them, surprising Jay as they weren't painful. "But wait, why didn't we see Ronan attack the bat before us? Maybe we were so focused on our battle plans..." he commented afterward, but then remembered what Ronan had done and added, "But that was a good round of attacks he pulled off!"
Jeremy looked over at the warrior who was slightly bleeding. "Need any help?" he asked, pondering what he could do about Ronan's wound.
"I'm gonna run in and take a swing to see what that does. Wish me luck!" Jay said with a pumped tone in his voice. Jeremy nodded and watched as Jay rushed in with his staff ready to swing. The bat was severely weakened and still convulsing a bit. Jay ran right up to it and swung as hard as he could, the staff resounding a satisfying "whack!" as it connected with the bat's head. The bat tried to counter with a swing of his claws, barely grazing Jay's arm but not enough to cause any form of cut or bleeding, but still dealing a point of damage. Jay then did a backflip after shifting his momentum and ran back to Jeremy's side. The brothers then high-fived, feeling a small boost of confidence (and therefore, an attack/defense boost) enveloping them afterward. Jay was a bit surprised at his own ability, even though he took a risk, losing a minimal amount of health.
"That was fun!" Jay shouted, still panting. He looked at his arm, which was a bit red, but not bleeding or cut visibly. "I was lucky there," he commented. As the bat was still twitching, though just barely, the brothers wondered if anyone else would join in and put this bat out of its misery.

((Yahh! The brothers have to do some melee attacking, of course. And it's okay, Aliucon, it's good to have some "competition"... eh heh. I mean, people who write as much as I do. It makes me feel good.))

((No, my character knows, he was here already when you guys arrived and said that were level 1, wasn't him? And I did mentioned that you were begginers, since you were the only ones that said the level in his presence: he was wondering about the others, though.))

"I-I'm fine, thanks!" Ronan replied, right after Jeremy's question. He also brandished the sword he held with his other hand to show that he was still good to fight. But the bite had took an noticeable chunk of his Hit Points bar. That boss was pretty strong even to him, he guessed, and decided to refrain from another advance to see if any other person would try and take the bat down for good.

((Haha, I won't be much of a competition, then. My vocabulary is not as big as yours, and I only detail a lot when the situation demands it. I like to write, though.))

The bat struggled hard against Austin's grip, and it managed to graze Jay's arm.
Then, it scratched Austin, bit him, screeched...It didn't do much. Each hit barely dealt one damage, and he had over 1000 HP left. Austin held on, but still refrained from attacking. Everyone else was just a beginner. He refused to take the experience that everyone else needed.

((Oh, alright. Also, since they're only level 1, Jay's "zap" attack is the fanciest spell the brothers have at this point. Also, the brothers wanted to see how their magic worked, but that used up a lot of their casting ability. The lower levels are definitely more difficult to endure. You're much weaker, and you don't have much room to just cast spells all willy-nilly.))

"Alright then, just let us know if you need healing," Jeremy replied. 'Although really, we're pretty tapped at the moment. Gotta conserve that magic stuff,' Jeremy thought as he wondered what he could do. The bat was barely stirring now and the brothers didn't want to hog the experience. Jeremy simply held his staff out, pointing the end of it towards the bat, and focused his energy. The bracelet flashed white, and an icicle shot out of the end of the staff, making it recoil like a rifle. It was heading right towards the downed enemy. The projectile pierced the bat's right wing and the bat let out a much more weak-sounding screech of pain. The boss was definitely almost done, but so were the brothers' magic reserves. The bracelets didn't have much glow left in them, but Jay and Jeremy didn't feel any weaker.

((Someone else should attack the bat now... That's the thing about slow-going RPGs. You have to wait so long for others to post so you can join back in. Also, there's a lack of direct interaction... but enough of my rants about these things. "Someone finish it off!" Haha.))

((Well, I'd have Cody pull a finisher, but he already resigned himself not to kill-steal from the newbies. Plus, I couldn't think of anything for it aside from slight overkill. :P
By the way, has Serenity posted here lately?))

((Last time she posted was... I think June 26th, back on page 4, and it wasn't even an RP post, just OOC comments. Also, try to make your posts have at least a little content, even if it's just "he waits and does an idle animation" or something xD.))

The brothers had stepped back from the battle. They knew the bat wouldn't be able to fly and attack them. It was all a matter of who was going to deal the finishing blow. They looked around at all the other players in the cave and wondered why none of them had reacted to the battle at all. "What's going on?" Jay wondered, "You can't really go 'away from keyboard' in this game as there's... no keyboard, so... why are they not doing anything?" 'Or maybe they are, like what happened with Ronan... and we're just missing it... somehow. Huh...' Jeremy wondered why neither he nor Jay brought any sort of portable music player or something. Sure, this game was fun, but it could do with some pumping battle music in Jeremy's opinion.

((Haha, look at Jay go! Subverting the whole "this happened before what's going on now" thing. :edgy: ))

((This is my exit. Hope you don't mind.))

Javin hesitated to get in the fight, as he saw everyone else jump in, but when they were all batted back ((haha, batted)) he decided to join in. Making a complicated guesture, he managed to imprison the bat in a cage. "Some one get it." He gasped. This was harder than he had though.

Austin leaped off the bat just before the cage around it formed, and now he was on top the cage.
"Come on, people. I'm not going to take any experience from you. Well, I'd say this battle is just about covered." Austin looked at Zoey. Do you want to leave?

((And...Consider me gone. Um...Anyone can take over Austin while I'm away.))

((I usually don't like to post just for the sake of posting, you see... but regardless of that matter, on with the show!))

Cody finally relaxed a bit, and strolled closer to the downed and trapped Bat, the steady shift from crunching grass to the sound of boot on stone a very calming and rustic effect. 'A lot more firepower than I woulda expected be used.' He pondered. 'Animal Rights enthusiasts worldwide would be having fits if they could see this.'

As he approached, he gave a look to all the possible finishers, turning his head left and right, to stop at each cluster momentarily. "Well... I don't mean to be abrupt, but this beasty won't put itself out of it's own misery. You have ten seconds to decide amongst yourselves who'll land the finish before I claim the kill myself."

As he spoke, he swung the sword hilt around in his hands, giving a few easy practice swings to loosen himself up.

Zoey met Austin's eyes and nodded stiffly, her ears ringing from the bat's screeching. Her and Austin walked back outside in silence before sitting back down as they were. Zoey smoothed down a slight rip in her dress, passing a hand over it and muttering as it knitted itself back together. She noticed a slight stink in the air and looked up at Austin where she saw some blood clotting his fur.

"Are you alright?"

((I'll try to summarize. We are all by a cave's entrance, and we were facing a giant bat that is the cave's boss. Austin and Zoey have just left the cave to let the others fighting off the bat, that is being held captive in a cage made by Javin. He's still alive, but barely holding on his own. All the other characters seem to be by the cave, looking or participating of the fight. Right now, we just didn't kill the giant bat because Austin prefered to wait some other people to attack and gain experience for their own, since some of them are newbies.))

Ronan followed Cody with his eyes while he approached the bat, and heed his words. The impulse of advancing and finishing the bat off was big, especially because he DID mess up his whole mission and chance to enter the clan he intended too with a nearly perfect record. But he heard the werewolf's words before and decided to let the killing for the ones that needed most. He was not such a begginer, after all, and he had been present there with the feeling of an intruder, even though he remembered it was the angel's sweet voice that called him there when he was about to leave...

((Huh, can't think of much else to say. "Finish him!", says Shao Khan.))

Javin groaned "If you won't I will!" With that he made spikes appear on the inside of the cage, and constricted it. It exploded, and then there was a ching. YOU HAVE REACHED LEVEL 5. Javin swayed. "Oh cool." He mumbled, before dropping into a dead faint.

((Thanks for a fun session, I'll see you in a month.))
