The atmosphere seemed to grow gloomier as the taxi neared the train station. Her topknot bouncing, young Maya Fey lifted her head to look at her long time friend. “I promise I’ll e-mail you every day, Nick.” She said to break the silence. She hadn’t expected to have to leave him so fast, but her duty as the Kurain master remained.

On Phoenix’ part, it was probably the worst taxi ride of his life. Not only did he have to go through the routine of the train station, but he had to see his best friend off, as well. Obviously the two weren’t at their happiest while riding in the yellow vehicle.

“You know, Maya, I still can’t believe you’re gonna become the new village master. You’ve grown up a lot since I first met you.” And he wasn’t just saying that. Maya had matured a lot since the fateful night he had met her. She was starting to act like her sister, Mia. Phoenix looked over at her, as she scarfed down her good-bye present: two hamburgers. Okay, so she had a long way to go before she was like Mia, but she definitely grew up a little.

“Well, Nick it has been a couple of years since we first met. Plus I have to be the new master, after what happened with my mom, Godot, and Morgan.” Her words were muffled by the hamburger she was swallowing. “It’s a tough job, but I know I can handle it!” She shouted with a determined look on her face. Phoenix looked at the road next to him. ‘I know you can too, Maya. You’ve been through a lot for your age.’

The vehicle pulled up to the train station and let the two out. They worked there way through the lines quickly, and it’s not like they didn’t know what they were doing. After all, they had done this before.

Finally, they reached the station where they waited for the train to arrive. ‘You know, this has gone surprisingly smooth, I expected it to…’ The man’s thoughts were interrupted by the tiniest sniffling noises coming from the girl next to him. ‘Is she…crying?’ He thought as he watched the tears slowly stream down her face. “Maya…” “Nick! I…don’t…want…to…leave…yooooouuuuu!” She choked out, before completely losing it at the end. “We’ll visit each other again, Maya, it will be alright.” The attorney cooed, calming her down a little.

They were interrupted by the screech of metal on metal, the train had arrived. “Well, I guess this is good-bye, Nick.” She said before giving him the best hug he’d had in a long time. “Good-bye Maya, I know you’ll do a good job as the master of the village.” “Yeah…one more thing, Nick.” She then stood on her toes and gave her friend a kiss before slowly walking towards the train. No explanation was needed, since he understood it perfectly.
