I was wondering where you went off to you two.

I'd like to see Iris have more character development. She seemed to lack some imo. It would be nice to see how prison changed her.

That's probably my biggest complaint about Iris. I think the general fanbase would've been more forgiving of her (especially when it comes to her "secret") if she had been fleshed out some more. Of course, you can't please everyone...

I thought that Iris was rather understated, and I thought that actually made her an intriguing character as opposed to a boring one. She also had like, one case for her character to be fleshed out.

I still say she's a more fleshed-out character than say, Apollo Justice, who had a whole game. But that's a rant for another day...

Anyway, I still like Nick and Iris together. I figure she isn't mentioned in GS4 because Phoenix didn't feel the need to discuss his love life with Apollo. I figure she wasn't present in GS4 because she was still in prison. Or because Kristoph killed her or something.

This. I'm willing to bet that Rissy was eaten alive in prison. She probably took the bullying/harassment without complaint, too, because she felt like she deserved it. ):

I think one of the reasons some people are losing their love for Feenris is because it doesn't have a lot of support. The pairing seriously lacks artists who draw them, and, let's face it, the art has pretty much run into a wall now. There's not a lot of new things to see, and if there are (no offense to anyone), they're...not exactly up to par.

I still love pairing them up because their dynamic really appeals to me, though. I need to get writing so you guys have something to love me for... XD

That might be the reason. But when you think about it all other pairings (except GK ones) are in the same boat. So i don't think that's the main reason.
More likely it's because it's slowly being ruined. And anymore liking the pairing (and/or Iris) puts a bullseye on your forehead. :chinami:
I'll never lose the faith though.

Alright, enough of this moping.

You know what this thread's problem is? It isn't that we're being attacked from the outside, because that's bullshit. This victim mentality needs to stop right now. It's irritating and embarrassing.

Our problem is that we argue amongst ourselves too much, and that we take ourselves too seriously. What's with the elitist attitude around here? If somebody shares an idea, this is a good thing. There is no such thing as a bad idea, especially when it comes to shipping, which shouldn't be taken seriously anyway. "Up to par" my eye!

Crack, crazy ideas, and creativity should be encouraged, not discouraged. We need to have a spirit of fun, not a spirit of elitism or martyrdom. Dammit, if we would just have fun ourselves, maybe others would want to join us!

TL;DR: Get that stick out of your asses and start enjoying yourselves. It's not that hard.

It's a mafia now?! :keiko:

The bullseye on this pairing...we painted half of it ourselves. Let's face it, we've instigated as much as others have. Although some of the threads just ASK for it. :lana:

Creativity, however...What's the last ORIGINAL-insofar as a fictional-character-pairing-that-is-not-our-creation can be-idea that you had? This pairing has indeed hit a wall with the art and such. What we need is to take a new viewpoint about this pairing and use that newness to create something unlike the tired old stuff we keep repeating.

Do you have any idea how you would implement this? It sounds like it could be fun, but I would worry about people's good intentions falling through. You might want to come up with some stipulations as well. It wouldn't be fair for one user to get an awesome multi-part fic and in exchange they get a haiku.

How would we do this? Draw names... somehow?

I've done some on SPPF before, they were fun. And you sometimes wonder who your Secret Santa is while you're wondering if the person you're giving it to will like your gift or not.

Totally agree with this. I actually thought Iris was one of the more developed characters in the series, especially considering the amount of time we got to know her. I mean, how many characters had their entire life story spelled out? I especially liked that since, when you look at her past, you can see how she turned out the way she did. (Same goes for Dahlia, but I digress.)

Iris is a rather passive and reserved character for the most part, but considering she's lived away from people her whole life, and how badly things turned out the last time she tried to take charge of a major crisis (the necklace incident), I can't really blame her. She's obviously drowning in guilt by the time we see her in 3-5, which is why she's so adamant about protecting Godot/Diego and so willing to accept whatever punishment comes her way.

I thought she was a refreshingly different sort of character after the rest of the AA crew, who tend to hit you over the head with their foibles (Maya's burger obsession and samurai fangirling, Gumshoe's bumbling but good-hearted quest for justice, and so on (not that I have anything against the other characters, just saying.)) Iris' relationships with Phoenix and Dahlia were what really made her stand out to me. That isn't to say Iris didn't have her own little quirks; she gave me the impression that she can be a bit of an airhead at times when she told Phoenix "Hey,I can use a phone and a computer, you know" and when she spaced out after learning about Larry's love letter.

The fact that Iris' character was toned back a bit compared to the rest of the cast made her seem more normal to me. More like a real person.

But that's just me.

@Franzise Deauxnim

Well said! Iris is a very human character, and the more I think about her, the more I like her.

@ Sarahsuke and Yaragorm

It's understandable, because it's human nature to feel like it's "not fair" when something we like gets bashed or ignored. Human beings by instinct crave acceptance and even praise.

But yeah, having a victim-mentality is detrimental to our cause. Luckily, humans have the ability to change their way of thinking, so we can shift our point of view to "Who cares what other people think? I like this thing, and that's all that matters to me. I'm gonna have fun with it."

I'm gonna use an in-fandom example. My OTP is Maya/Miles. When I played the game about a year ago, I was disappointed to see that there wasn't a lot of love for the pairing in fandom. However, I found at least one fandom friend who also really loved the pairing, and together we worked to write fic, make fanart, and generally spread the love. Eventually people began to catch on, but it was gradual. It's basically a pyramid scheme kind of thing, lol.

The Kink Meme is a great place for things to catch on. All it takes is one really good fic for people to get interested. P/I will have its day in the sun, but in order for that to happen, we have to contribute. Sitting around wishing that other people would contribute isn't gonna give us any results.

Anywho, how are we gonna do this Secret Santa thing?

If everyone who's interested in participating could send a PM to a volunteer, that volunteer send PMs to the participants telling them who they're gonna be giving their gift to. Unless if someone can think of a better way?

Sounds like a good idea.

We could make people fill a form for those who want to participate and give it to the person who's going to be making the gift so it's easier to know what they would particularly like.

Spoiler: For example:
A little bit about yourself:
Other pairs you like:
Other favorite characters:
Kinks:
Preferred gift:
Anything else you want to say to your secret santa:

This is the secret santa event I went to last year.

Okay, I guess we need someone to volunteer to be the Keeper of Teh Names. This would ideally be someone who likes the Secret Santa idea, but who wouldn't be able to make a gift.

But first of all, we need to make a list of people who are interested in participating.

Basically we are going to give, at random by way of drawing from a hat, going to give another user a piece of fanwork (fanfiction, art, etc.) that involves the pairing.

If you're not talented in making fanwork, you can be Keeper of teh Names
