Since 1993 and very likely sometime before that, women in the border city of Juarez, Mexico have been abducted and sexually murdered in the worse ways imagenable. This has gathered international attention as to probable Law Enforcement and Political corruption that allow the offenders to go unpunished and for conditions to occur that highten the amount of sexual homicides. At least 620 women have been sexually murdered by multiple killers. A combination of young woman, elderly woman, middle-aged woman and female children. Now the issue has spread to other Mexico States and Guatemala where around 2000 women have been murdered since the beginning of the 21th Century.

Two things to consider before doing research on this issue. This data "should" be obvious to those who follow this.

1: Femicides start same year, Juarez Drug Cartel is controlled by the Carrilo Fuentes Family. Amado Carrilo Fuentes took control of the Drug Cartel in 1993 and died in 1997. That's when family member Vincente took control of the Cartel. The extreme level of violence against these women have similarities to tactics used by the Cartels.

2: North American Free Trade Agreement is introduced and passed. More Maquiladoras (Foreign Owned Factories) are built throughout Mexico, mostly in Border States and alot in Juarez. New residents come to work in the Maquila's, making $2-4 dollars a day and living in Cardboard Shacks on the outskirts of the city. Most murder victims worked at Maquila's or were applying for jobs.

Were mainly counting a single city/state, not a single country.

it's really bad in juarez, because of the drug cartels.

i don't really know what to say though... but as long as the illegal drug trade lives, even if they're eliminated in juarez, there will be another city just like it.
