Even though it's already 10 years old (showing way back in 2001). It seems interesting to me to discuss it. What is your opinion with this movie in general or in specifics?

I remember that my mom and cousins rented this a long time ago, but wouldn't let me watch it because they considered it too risque. I finally got around to seeing it for the first time a few years ago and all I can say is, scenery porn!

This is probably one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Honestly, it is. When Christian first walks into the Moulin Rouge and you see all the entertainers, my jaw dropped at how breathtaking it was. :gant:

Of course, the music can't be forgotten. Hearing Like A Virgin being sung by two men was...weird, but it worked! I may actually prefer this version of Roxanne to the original even though I love The Police. Although, Your Song will always be better when Elton John's singing it.

Is it bad that the ending didn't really make me sad?

Satine dying behind the stage after her last play is kinda sad for me. Even through it all. Christian and her love with him strived through to make one last song. The songs are always spectacular and very catchy imo.

I think I wasn't that bothered because in the beginning doesn't Christian say that Satine dies or the person he loved is dead? I think that's why it didn't really effect me 'cause we already knew what was going to happen.

I always liked to believe that after all that Christian got out of his funk and found love again. :pearl-blush:

Hmm. I think I may go out and buy the CD...if I can find it.

Some songs from it are movie remixes of real songs actually (assuming you don't know it yet)

Yeah, I knew some of those songs already existed. Like Lady Marmalade, the original artist was Patty Labelle. I forgot who were the original artists of the other songs though.

Gawd I was still at school when this came out!

Didn't actually watch until I was about 18 though, it's one of my fave films. The soundtrack is awesome, I have it on CD somewhere 8D

Total tearjerker though, I never fail to cry at the ending. Ewan's acting in it incredible ;__;

I was watching Great Movie Mistakes 2 and I saw clips of it.

I am never going near the movie again. Besides, I hate movies with singing in them >.<

Professor Layton & The Lost Future. Best game ever.

I live everywhere and nowhere, usually as Kumori. My YouTube is 'WoodULikeSumCatFood', shamelessly ripped from a friend of mine.

I really enjoyed it, but I am a lover of musicals. It got a little too quirky at moments for my taste, but the entirety of the movie made up for it. Especially the costumes and theme of it. I was also appreciative of how it was a 'classic love story' with a twist ... plus I'm just a sucker for really sad media, because it's hard to make me cry otherwise.
