i personally like phoenix more than apollo. apollo to me looks more childish? while phoenix looks more grown up.
if you had a choice would you rather have phoenix wright ace attorney 4? or apollo justice ace attorney?
post your thoughts.

who do you guys like more? phoenix or apollo?
id rather see phoenix keep the ace attorney series going rather than having apollo take over.
what do you guys think? :phoenix:

Pssh, Phoenix pwns all. <3

Here's my opinion on Apollo:

He looks like a 10-year-old but sounds older than Phoenix. -_-;

So, yeah. I wish Phoenix would've carried on, but I guess I'll have to learn to like Apollo. *sigh*

I'll save judgment until after I've played the game through. The EBGames in my area hasn't received their shipment yet.. :sadshoe:

I like Phoenix more but how about in part 5 we have the choice of chosing between Phoenix and Apollo.

Also, yes I know that Phoenix loses his license but maybe he can get it back.

I'm also going to save judgement until I get Apollo Justice, but I can grow to like Apollo. Though I doubt he can top Mr. Wright.

I guess I shouldn't pass judgement until I've played Apollo Justice, but I have to say Apollo for now. Just because I always hated Phoenix, (though I love Young Phoenix and Old Phoenix), and I liked Apollo as soon as I saw him. :odoroki:

I haven't played AJ yet, but from what I hear, I think I'll like Phoenix best. There is just something so endearing about him. Plus I love his sarcastic inner monologue! :phoenix:

I refuse to play Apollo Justice.

I honestly can't see why Capcom would trade in Phoenix Wright- Who, thought him, gained hundreds of fans because of his witty inner comments, reliability, and overall identification factor with the player- with Apollo Justice. In my opinion, it was a bad move. The Phoenix Wright population has grown on the characters that Capcom gave us, not just Phoenix (Mia, Edgeworth, Maya, etc.) Now we're given a totally new cast, save for Ema Skye (Who we saw in one case), and Phoenix, who has pretty much been degraded to living as a blackjack dealer. (Blackjack dealer, right? It was either that or piano player.) Oh, and of course the Judge and Gumshoe but that's it. I have no problem with a new prosecutor (We get a new one every game! xD), but I think a new defense attorney is a little over the line.

I'm not going to judge Apollo based on character, because I have not and will not play the game, but I must say that Phoenix's name was better, too. So I'm going to say that, yeah, I would have preferred Phoenix Wright 4.

Bet hey, for GS5, I think it would be really cool to have a choice between Phoenix or Apollo as said before in the thread. Awesome Idea! :phoenix:

True, Apollo does seem to be rather overwhelmed by all the colorful personalities that surround him.

@Mr. Trite:
Spoiler: Tagged to be safe. Very, very, minor 4-1 spoilers.
No, he's actually an ace poker player. Disguised as a piano player.

I personally like Apollo better. *shot* Hey, hey! Let me explain first. I'm not going to say I know everything, but I have recieved my copy of AJ and am currently on the 2nd case.

Phoenix lost a lot of my respect for him when I decided to replay the first game before I got AJ. He's rude and sarcastic, wether it be in his mind or not. And AJ only dropped him from the level of "annoyingly sarcastic" to "disgusting bastard." In that game, Phoenix is a completely different person! You see his real side, the one that makes you want to murder him. The second I finsihed the 1st case of AJ, I knew he was only going to get worse from there on out. And he has.

Thank you, that is all.

EDIT: And to tell the truth, Phoenix was getting kinda boring. We need someone new to spice things up!

I don't really know. I haven't played AJ yet but I think I'm going to like them both more or less equally. I get the impression that Apollo is a bit more naive than Phoenix, but in a good way. But I love Phoenix's take on everything.

I really hoped that Phoenix would become Apollo's mentor. Or something like that.

I love them both, but after playing the game, I find to prefer Phoenix. And Edgeworth. I want my fussy prosecutor back D;

But both of them are adorable DAs. I would hire either of them XD

What's all of this talk that Apollo looks like a kid? Everyone looks different sometimes, heck.. there's even real people out there who look a heck of a lot younger than what they really are. It's all in the genetics. Basically Apollo seems to be just at the ripe age when Phoenix was a young, young adult. And believe me, Apollo is young and managed to get a degree in law quite early I guess. You can't argue there.

I'll decide which one I'll prefer once I purchase my own copy of AJ... though something tells me I'll prefer Phoenix. :/ Maybe because I'm really used to playing as 'em.

Well, I love Phoenix as much as anyone, but you've gotta admit the whole cast is kinda played out. I mean, yeah, they're fun characters and we love them, but as far as character development goes, they're pretty much as good as they're gonna get. There's really nothing else you can do with them at this point - save perhaps Franziska, and let's face it, she can't hold a game on her own. Whereas with the AJ cast we're starting fresh, with a whole new bunch of screwed-up freaks we can maybe turn into halfway decent people. :)

Which is better - I really can't say. I miss the PW crowd, definitely, but I can get used to the new guys. I'll admit I had misgivings at first, mainly with the overly bishonen main cast, but they grew on me pretty quick. And come on, Oreo-chan's adorable. :odoroki: <-- that guy, in case you were wondering.

Now, this I have to disagree with. Putting murder aside for now (because I still love the guy, even if you don't), I don't see how this is a "side" of him. It's just who he is now. You say he's a completely different person. Of course he is. He's lost his badge, his career, and his life apparently pretty much sucks now. And some spoilery things happened with a certain person THAT I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT [/denial] Yeah, he's changed a lot in the last seven years, but can you really blame him?

If you ask me, he just needs his Edgey back. And some shoes.

Alright, so perhaps it isn't a whole other side of him. But that doesn't change the fact that that's the kind of person he is, or was, for that matter. And yes, I can blame him. It's his fault he turned out like that. Just as it is my fault that I turned out to be the person I am today. We are whatever we make of ourselves, and nothing can change that. So what, his life sucks, he lost of badge, blah blah blah. That doesn't change how I feel about him.

P.S. I'm sorry if I seem rude whenver I talk about this topic. I... guess what's happening is that I just want our old Feenie back, and not the sarcastic b***h in AJ.

You got the whole thing wrong, but the thread says no spoilers allowed here. If you want, I can tell you the whole truth by PMing you. If not, then just keep playing until the very end of AJ and see what you think then.

By far I will say I prefer Nick than Polly, because I found GS4 is something like transition, rather than a completed story. Just like what Polly said by himself, his story has just begun. I'm sure my feeling will change after playing GS5, but now I still love PW better than AJ, though I like both of them.

However...I really really dislike Apollo's voice in the English version. I know he's 22 year old , but Capcom you want him looks like a boy, don't you? How could he sounds so old in English while he's still a teenage boy in Japanese?Image

Since when is being 22 years old considered to be teenager years? I'd consider that a young adult, much like Phoenix was during his collage/university days.

While I like Phoenix better, I agree that his series is spent as far as character development goes. All the loose ends are tied up, and Capcom really didn't have much choice as far as choosing a new main character goes.

I love the idea of being able to choose between Apollo and Phoenix for GS5 though.

I'm kind of shocked that we've got people here who would refuse to play Apollo Justice because it doesn't star Phoenix Wright. I mean, you were willing enough to give a game about a lawyer a chance once, but now that the lawyer has changed you don't want to play it? Where did this short-sighted stubborness come from? You're cheating yourselves out of a truly great game. And believe me, you get more than enough Phoenix in this game (some might even say you get too much.) Don't judge something before you've experienced it. [/annoyed rant]

As for who I like better, there's no way I can choose! Going in, I thought that although I'd enjoy AJ, there was no way he could really replace my hero Phoenix. But Apollo is as worthy and likeable a hero as Phoenix ever was. I disagree with I <3 Edgeworth about Phoenix's new personality, but this isn't the place to discuss that. Anyway, both are great and I can't wait to see more of Polly!

While I somewhat agree, because one of my 'rules' is to never give something a final judgment until you see ALL of the perspectives etc.... I have to say that it is their opinion. If they don't want to play AJ, so be it.

By the way, everyone seems to be saying that Phoenix will be the main lawyer in GS5. Well, somehow I doubt it. It's possible, but it's only an assumption. Let's wait for official information about GS5 to come before assuming anything for GS' future.

I've only gotten through the first case of AJ so far so I haven't had time to really explore the character of Apollo. While I do believe he, and his chords of steel, has plenty of room to grow on me, I just don't think he will ever be able to replace Phoenix as me favorite little "Objection" shouter. Like everyone else I have a history with that character, and that history just can't be forgotten or put aside. Three games and several years later I still get a rush from hearing that familiar voice yell out "Take that!" And while I do think that Phoenix will always remain my favorite, I do have to agree with the people on here who feel that the PW cast has had its time in the sun and that it is time for some fresh faces. I just hope that we'll still be able to get cameos from more of our favorite characters than the judge and Phoenix.

My sentiments exactly.

I've grown far too attached to the characters of the first three games to really want to get used to an entirely new cast :/ Would've been so much better if it were like T+T where you had one or two cases that you played as a different defense attorney...but that's it o_0

I like the two characters pretty equally.

Phoenix has his whole witty, sarcastic attitude with a willing personality, where in which you have the younger Apollo who is lost in the "ohgawdwhattfreakinghecrapisgoingon" while humorously trying to keep a straight face but managing his troubles.

I actually thought Apollo to be quite a bit more forceful, at least outside of court. He doesn't give in on things quite as easily as Phoenix did, the big old softy. Apollo also has the awesome Perceive ability and a lot of cute little mannerisms and gestures.

I rather like the both of them, but anyone who knows a lick about me knows that I'm a Phoenix fan. I just adore his wit and assertiveness while arguing cases. And he's the more attractive of the two as far as I'm concerned.

My opinion as of Apollo Justice's release in regards to the role they play--not in regards to overall character, though:

Defense Attorneys: Phoenix Wright > Mia Fey > Apollo Justice
Prosecutors: Miles Edgeworth > Franziska von Karma > Godot > Winston Payne > Manfred von Karma > Klavier Gavin
Big Villains: Morgan Fey > Manfred Von Karma > Dahlia Hawthorne > [big villain in Apollo Justice]
Detectives: Dick Gumshoe = Ema Skye
Aides: Ema Skye > Maya Fey > Trucy Wright > Maggey Byrde > Marvin Grossberg > Diego Armando > Phoenix Wright > Kristoph Gavin

I'll always love you, Max.

I'm just not sure that its a fair comparison by this point. We've had three games to get to know Phoenix (plus his actions in this game) and one to get to know Apollo. I really like both characters and although I'd lean toward saying I prefer Phoenix at this point (in both lawyer and hobo forms), I really like Apollo and I can't wait to get to know him better in later games. So I love both is my answer and I refuse to chose between them until the playing field has been evened so I can give Apollo a fair shot. Poor Apollo. He's got quite the hard road ahead of him trying to take over for Phoenix. Let's give him some love and a chance.

Sorry, but what does tunderous mean? :/

*face palm* Ah, sorry, my fingers seem to be screwing up tonight. That should be "thunderous." As in, "like thunder." I apoligize.

Am I the only one who got really bored with Phoenix by the end of T&T? Yeah, T&T was epic, but all the filler cases and the repetitive cast really started to sink in by the time it was all over. T&T brought a satisfying enough conclusion to Phoenix's arc. The fourth game has an overall different feel to it and just enough new gameplay functions to keep me interested, plus a new cast that isn't stale. Apollo and Trucy are similar to Phoenix and Maya (at times they can seem a bit too similar), yet their interactions and personalities are different enough to be unique.

And if you really love Phoenix that much, there's more than enough of him in Apollo Justice. Without spoiling anything, one could say he dominates the plot.

I like them equally, can't choose between the two.

Apollo is slow, (he gets better later in the game, so it's probably just lack of experience) but he's seems more snappy and judgmental with his remarks, and the best part is, he doesn't keep much of it to himself, ensuing entertaining convos. He's also the only one who could counter Wrights' stepladder argument.

Phoenix is sharper and realizes things faster, and that may just come from experience, as he is sometimes slow to catch on, but he's still got funny remarks, though not as much as Apollo. As for later Phoenix, I think he's cool, sort of like Godot, and I think he may have even gotten sharper. 4-1 was just epic.
