One bittersweet day in high school...

I believe I was a junior at the time. At any rate, it was during lunch period. Being the alarmingly unsocial hermit crab I was (the school psychologists were at least half convinced I'd pull a Columbine because I "didn't socialize enough" with my peers, may their skins be riddled with boils), I finished my homemade lunch early as always. Looking to get away from the deafening din and mildly nauseating odors of the cafeteria, I took a seat in the only slightly less noisy lecture hall to pass the rest of lunchtime in relative peace. Allowing my gaze to lose focus, I soon noticed an odd couple ahead and to my left: one fellow ( :zenitora: ) with a relatively pretty brunette ( :uramidn: ) parked on his lap. Suffice it to say that he had Roman hands and Russian fingers. What made the sight unusual was that the girl was showing signs of resistance, pushing/slapping his hands away as he attempted to get musty with her--I refuse to dignify such contemptible conduct with the adjective "fresh".

Concluding that she was being pawed against her will and having no faith in the authorities, I attempted to cut his fun short. A scuffle ensued at the end of which he pushed me into some metal chairs. Getting back up, I headed toward the office to file a report of sexual harassment on the girl's behalf. Wiping my brow on the way out, I realized that I was bleeding. After I was treated and reported what I saw, they seated me, :uramidn: , and :zenitora: at a table and asked her, "Were any of :zenitora: 's advances unwelcome?" I don't think I'll ever know for certain why, but she said, "No." It didn't matter one whit to the powers that be that my sensibilities had been offended by the display or that her body language suggested the opposite of what she said. All that mattered to them was that she said, "No." The only action they took was to send :zenitora: and me home for the rest of the day because we had exchanged blows. This was obviously the bitter half of the day. On to Part II.

It just so happened that Varsity Choir had a concert scheduled for that evening. Though I had suffered a head wound, it had basically stopped bleeding and...the show must go on. So off I went to the music commons to prepare for the concert. I had cleaned off of a fair amount of the blood, but not all of it--the cut was near my hairline and I didn't want to risk reopening the wound. Among my classmates backstage, I encountered unexpected sympathy. Particularly supportive was a somewhat tall, thin girl with shoulder-length chestnut hair ( :mareka: ). A look of concern etched her face as she asked me what happened and began dabbing at the wound, cleaning off the dried blood. She had nothing but contempt for :uramidn: . "Man, if I'd been in her position I wouldn't have left you high and dry like that. I'd have helped you kick his ass." "What a coward." Such was the start of a beautiful friendship. Naturally, I began to harbor deeper feelings for :mareka: pretty soon. I started making music compilations for her as gifts. We talked often before and after class. I can't say I know for sure whether the feelings were completely mutual, but either way she was easily my closest friend in school, practically the center of my universe. Unfortunately, my time with her as a classmate would be cut short. About halfway through the year, she seemed to have vanished into thin air. I never saw her again.

actually, there were quite a few ancient societies (particularly in Greece) that were much gayer than we are now, so i don't think we have to worry about that. there's a difference between more people becoming bi and more people admitting that they're bi.

then again, maybe i actually am contributing to the apocalypse...

There is this guy Felix ( :larry: ) . :larry: is funny, but I don't think I love :larry: ..
(He looked through the window and screamed 'Anything else, Konnichi wa?' today..)
And one of my best friends Dajana ( :uramidn: ) . She loves :larry: .
Now the problem is that I think (or better said Stefie ( :adrian: ) thinks) :larry: loves ME..
I don't know for sure, but :larry: acts like he does..What if :larry: asks me and :adrian: gets to hear that ?
That would probably be the end of our friendship.. :sob:

It really truly is. I'd share my own tales of teenage romance woe but I can't really remember any all the clearly - although there was a reasonable amount of them.

I remember at the time they were really important - whether I looked like a slut, whether such and such liked me, who was slagging me off behind my back - but it all fades with time.

I do remember my first kiss because he tasted like instant porridge, even though it was 10pm at night. I lost my virginity to my long-term boyfriend but he - despite having a lot more experience than me - was rubbish in bed, rubbish because he wasn't prepared to do anything more than what he needed to get his rocks off. I've been cheated on, flirted with people who clearly thought I should be hosed down, been in love, broken up, nearly died of heartache and picked myself up again.

And now I'm happily married even though I swore at one point that marriage and babies was never for me. And even though I sometimes miss the freedom that came with being young and unattached I just couldn't live through 'learning' about relationships and sex all over again. you all have my condolences :hobohodo:

Everyone tells me that I'm going to change my mind and have a child.

It's really irritating. It's not just that I can't stand them to the point that I would murder my own child, but also that my child would have my genes, and be terrible. Also, I could never live with myself knowing that I contributed to the world's overpopulation.

I'm open-minded if people present a valid reason for me to consider their view, but it rarely happens. Telling me, "Oh, you'll change your mind." IS NOT A GOOD ARGUMENT.

If it makes you feel any better, China believes that 1-2 children is balance. More than that is what contributes to overpopulation.

Seriously. It's a triangle thingy and you need to look at it like that. Each generation requires at least 2 individuals in order to produce it, correct? Well then common sense will tell you that if every generation had only ONE child per couple, we would be extinct in no time flat. Two children balances this. In theory. In practice, less than 50% of the population is ever found favorable. Think about this. A kid is nothing to worry about if you know you can take care of it. Stupid people trying to pressure you on about it constantly by saying "you'll change your mind" need to be smacked senseless with a frying pan. Maybe then they'll change their mind about messing with you and change their mind about having children because they're stupid. If all else fails, get the knife. :yuusaku:

I dunno. Personally, I think that it's rather selfish to want to have children considering the state of the world right now. The human population is too large and it needs to go down. While we are able to sustain ourselves at this point, it is not at a very nice state. Resources are running low and the condition of the Earth is decreasing. So to want a child and add to this destruction for the mere purpose of having a child?

Gah. I mean, sure, I could adopt. But that just leads back to the whole not being able to give a child enough love. I actually figured out that if I had a child, the population of the world would be solved. It would become so mentally unstable and messed up that it would kill everyone.

Plus I want to keep my money for myself. Children are expensive. Yes, it's selfish, but it's less selfish than the destruction of our beautiful planet <3

If I've offended anyone, *shrug*, I'm not in that great of a mood right now. Deal with it.

Me too. It's probably better to help Japan do it like bunnies since they have a huge drop in population scheduled once a lot of the old people pass on. In the next few years. Seriously. Look at the age gaps in that country. Wow. :lana:

Eek. :sadshoe:
Akane wrote:

I thought about doing this since I've always had trouble finding someone attractive where I could at least be in a relationship with them for more than a month. I'm now convinced all women are psycho. This preoccupation is rather tiresome. I'm pretty sure I was missing the point until this topic came up. The point is for the child, not a woman. These two subjects can be segregated. Yes. :yuusaku:

Sadly, no. I never got quite bold enough to ask for it.

It is quite possible to have a child for selfish reasons, but I personally don't think that regulation is the answer even on the assumption that the world is on the brink of environmental ruin. Japan is a case in point. They are short on young people as a simple result of their own actions. The same can be said of much of Europe. Preoccupation with personal pleasure tends to lower the birth rate as a matter of course now that contraceptives are widely available. As a secondary consequence, STDs sterilize and kill larger numbers of people as promiscuity spreads, simultaneously crippling the birth rate and raising the mortality rate. So if you want to reduce the human population, you can simply promote promiscuity and "safe sex". The population will get smaller and you won't even have to waste money on regulatory boards or firing squads. By and large, people will quite happily remove themselves from the gene pool as long as they can have some orgasms in the process. :haha:

At any rate, I agree that those who do not want children should not have them. It's not fair to the children. Realistically, people who want children for the wrong reasons shouldn't have them either for the same reason, but there's no conscionable or practical way to truly prevent them.

Well, I can see your point about the state of the world. But stopping having children won't actually help - you'll be left with a lot of elderly people unable to make any changes. :yogi:

Aside from that, we (that is my husband and I) made the decision that we wanted one child. It's very easy for people who don't want children - and I fully respect that, nothing worse than feeling that you should or shouldn't do something as big as having a kid - to pull out arguments about global destruction and selfishness etc but I have found it is often because they feel they have to justify their own decision as it is seen as 'not normal'. I have plenty of happily coupled up friends for whom kids just aren't in their plan. That's because they are happy with the directions of their lives and kids don't feature in that. I can respect that a lot more than 'I won't have kids because of overpopulation/global warming/starvation' etc.

If anything having my son has made me much more aware of global issues than I was and I was never one for ignoring current affairs in the first place. :yuusaku:

I'm not offended by your comments but I'm a bit confused as to where they came from? I only mentioned having a kid as a way of saying that back in school I never thought I'd be the coupling up/happy families type. I certainly didn't mean 'oooh, you'll change your mind in 10 years'. I never considered not having kids if the chance came along. It just seemed very remote back in school! :maya:

I will save the world. I really want to get twins. Or triplets. I don't know why, but it was always like that. I'm 12 years old and I've nearly planned my WHOLE FUTURE!
There is such a rumor about teenager pregnancy..
A girl at the age of 11 was pregnant last year, there are more than 39 under-18-mothers at the schuelervz and I think the whole thing is soo...stupid.
Everyone is like 'Yeah..Having sex...uhh blabla..I did have sex..blabla..' but the most are just poor liers..And they inspire (or the more or less force) others to have sex at a VERY young age.
I think it's better if you have your own opinion and don't let others force you to do things you don't wanna do.

Sex is fine at nearly any age IMO (15+) so long as the people involved understand what it is and they protect themselves! How hard is it to go and buy protection?!

Having one or two kids wont over populate the world, but we need to kill/lock up the people who have about 3000! It's insane and impracticle and greedy to have that many kids!

:maya:

I was just going on a little mini-rant because of stuff. Anyways. So if I'm reading this right, you respect people who choose to have children for their personal reasons, but not for the problems that there are in the world? Well, it's not that big of a deal I suppose. I have both, so they cancel each other out :D

Well, I respect anyone not having kids because they don't want to for whatever reason. But, say, you *did* want children but held back because of the world's problems then I'd be pointing out the above - you not having a child wouldn't change anything, unless of course you were in the middle of a refugee camp in Darfur or something similar.

But mini-rants are fine by me. My houseplant just got the full measure of my ire at the postman treating me like a one-stop delivery house for all my neighbours :zenitora: :zenitora: :zenitora:

There's this one girl at this cafe I frequent who's pretty cute, but I can't get to open up to me. She'll talk to me when I'm close to her (physically, not emotionally >_>) and I need someone to watch my stuff. But any attempts to say hi to her fail. =/

But that's nothing compared to the feelings I had for this girl from my American studies class this year.

Spoiler: TL;DR
I introduced myself to her one day in class, and she seemed interested in getting to know me. She was always cheerful towards me. I also introduced myself to her other friends, and, for the rest of the semester, sat with them during class. We had some good moments here and there.

After our fall final, she, me, and our friends from class went out for lunch, and we decided to sit at a table for 4 people. There were 5 people in our group (including both of us), and the 3 of us sat on one side of the tables, with her sitting next to me. At the time, I thought she was kinda hitting on me. (When I look back, I guess she was just being a pretty good friend. Why? Look down a few paras.)

I only kinda liked her at the time; there was another girl I was thinking about around this time period, though that eventually changed during winter break as my feelings shifted toward her instead.

So winter break passes, and we are once again in class. (the class we had was a year-long class). The usual in-class shenanigans resume. I started to like her more, and thought she kinda liked me at the time. A few weeks down, and one day, after class, some of our friends were exchanging phone numbers. I asked for her number.

So I text her later that day, and, despite introducing myself, asks me who I am and how I got her number. At first I was thinking, "ah shit, I hit the wrong number."

The next morning, my "wrong number" suspicious cancelled out. I called her, and she sounded serious/melancholy when she talked to me. She said something about only talking to each other in class or something.

So that night, I messaged her on Facebook on what exactly she said in her call. Well, the next morning, as I was doing homework, she messages back, and tells me how she feels for me: she only likes me as a friend, and we shouldn't talk to each other outside of class.

I was in shock. Okay, so she only likes me as a friend. That, I can live with. But to limit the extent of this friendship to the classroom? That part of the message put a bullet in my heart. A bullet that took weeks to remove. On top of that, I found myself without the courage to talk to her for the 1-2 weeks following this incident.

Of course, memories eventually fade away and you file them away, and I got back on good terms with her. Yet, I still have those feelings for her...

(summary: I make friends with her, she seems interested in me, I develop feelings for her, she rejects me, but we're still friends.)

That's ridiculous :O I always talk with my friends outside of class. Of course, there are also people whom I talk to in class but I don't really bother to do anything else...

I need some stories for this thread. Haha :P

Well, my guess was that she was onto me, since for a few weeks before that happened, I would walk with her after class for a bit and talk about things.

Which sounds like me getting too close.

As I've said, she knew I liked her, and told me she didn't share those feelings.

I've had one girl I didn't exactly like like me back in middle school. I know the feeling.

Some people are fine with talking to a people who like them, some others think it's a little creepy.

I have the weirdest luck. Maybe I entered some sort of luck code when I woke up today. Probably X-X!V''Q or something. :yuusaku:

I went over to the college to see about FAFSA. The girl helping me figure out all the forms I needed was a real cutie. Like....Awesome. If you saw that shirt she was wearing with the college logo s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d the way it was...You would think so too. No weirdness there at all. She's a married thingy. I don't even need to ask why.♥ :that-b-word:

I go over to the Dairy Queen and get a chicken wrap since I'm mad about chickens!

Turns out this was not so simple... :yuusaku:

:yuusaku: *walks to the counter*
.....
:that-b-word: Heeeeeeey.♥ What are you getting?
:yuusaku: A chicken wrap.
:that-b-word: Oh. Don't you always come in here for a blizzard?
:shy: No I don't.
:that-b-word: Okay. *walks off*
:yuusaku: (There has to be an easy way, right?)
:that-b-word: *waits in front of cardclock* ....
:yuusaku: (Oh now this is too cute...)
:edgy: *walks in*
:that-b-word: *cardpunch*.....Has someone helped you yet?
:yuusaku: No you haven't. Also, I was getting a little worried that you're scared of punchclocks. You get too many panic attacks for that.
:chinami: Hey!
:maya-shock: YOU!
:yuusaku: Uhmmm....Hey.
:maya: It's YOU!
:shy: It is?
:maya-shock: The guy that says I look like a chicken-stick!
:yuusaku: Oh. Hi chicken-stick.
:edgeworth: .......
:maya: I am not!...Oh...I can help you over here.
:edgy: Thanks.
:yuusaku: You are a chickenstick. Look at her. Now look at those twigs for arms. Is she not a chi-
:that-b-word: Ahahahaahahaha!
:shy: *sits down* (Why do I have so many pennies today? I hate these.)
:maya: ♥...*sigh*
:shy: Hey! I have that effect on a lot of women but when you do that it just looks and sounds creepy. Don't turn into a stalker thingy okay?
:maya-shock: I'm not creepy!...Hey you look different. Did you grow your hair out?...
:yuusaku: No. Your eyes suck.
:maya-shock: !...
:shy: (Ughh...The last girl that sighed at me like THAT...Psycho.)
:that-b-word: Ahahahahaah!
:shy: (Oh great a witch's cackle, NOW what?)
:maya: So what kind of blizzard did you get?
:yuusaku: I didn't get one.
:maya-shock: WHAT?! You ALWAYS come in here to get a blizzard!
:shy: Uh no I don't. Who are you? You don't know me.....I think.
:that-b-word: He got a chicken-wrap!
:maya-shock: Nuh-uh! Are you like...Trying to start some fad?
:shy: Uh....No? Are you?
:maya: .....? Oh. Got it. *runs off for a few minutes*
*some disaster happens a few minutes later*
:that-b-word: Ahahahaahahah! What'd you DO?!
:maya: Ahahaahah! I'm horrible.
:shy: (Oh God I hope she didn't poison it...Hmmm...Diet poison...)
:that-b-word: Here you go.♥
:yuusaku: Thanks, shorty.♥
:that-b-word: Ahahahaahah! I'm not short.
:maya: + :that-b-word: *try out-inching each other's heights...*
:maya: Ahaahahah!
:yuusaku: ...Gotchya.

I seriously need to like, tone down whatever it is that keeps drawing these two near me or whatever makes them talk to me. The more I talk to girls, the more they want a piece of me. The :maya: goes to the gym with the hopes she'll impress me and the :that-b-word: Is just too freckly cute for words. Ha. I need to learn when to cut off discussion completely. Like...Make all important statements and then abandon. If not, odds are that I'm going to be raped in the DQ parking lot on my way home by two girls that shouldn't have anything to do with me. At least they haven't bugged me for my phone number. Yet. :shy:

On my way to other places, some drunk weirdo was running around bugging random people. I decided to feign English and he left me alone. What was that code again? XVV...

DF, maybe you need to stop talking to them? XP You're just encouraging them really, they probably like making you talk more. Also, avoid places you know they go to or work at! If that doesn't work then lock them in a shed and then you'll know where they are at all times :P

:hobohodo: random guy who I know from maths class :adrian: sis :lana: me

:hobohodo: hey!
:adrian: :lana: hey
:hobohodo: Someone said I look like a chav! Do I?
:lana: *thinks* More like a chavet
:hobohodo: Im a girl?!
:lana: No, more like a small chav
:adrian: or part chav
The guy then went to waffle about how he didn't fit into any catagory while I looked desperatly for my other friends who were late into school >>

After reading this, I realized what I'm encouraging by calling little miss iron lifter a chicken-stick and then ordering a chicken wrap.

As in one of the guys is part girl or actually truly suffering the horrid experience of being squeezed into the middle seat in the back of the car? Yeah that isn't fun. :yuusaku:

Still, looking back on everything in school, I had a thing for small cute geeky girls with small cleavage. Yeah there weren't too many of those. This is probably why I don't have many stories about when I went to school.
