Pearl was raised all alone no matter what. the only person there for her was Maya. Iris was never there for her. Pearl would never want to abandon the only person close to her as a sister for her real sister that she never knew. It's just like many adopted children wouldn't leave their foster home for their their biological parents unless the foster parents were insane. Many of my friends with stepparents would rebel if they were forced to be with their biological mother or father.
Maya's and Pearl's bond is stronger than Pearl's and Iris' will ever be. Maya has been acting more like Pearl's sister throughout all of Pearl's life, it's not like she'd immediately abandon her in favour of Iris. If anything, if Iris revealed to Pearl that she was her half-sister Pearl would get confused and uncomfortable.

Who said anything about Pearl abandoning Maya? I didn't. And i don't see how the 2nd part of that is relevant to that.
I don't see how she'd become confused or uncomfortable with the idea.

I don't think we can know that for certain. She had been basically lied to her who life. She might be offended that no one thought she was mature enough to know the truth. Depending on how she finds out, she could be very upset to learn this truth.
Actually, my sister discovered that she had an older half sister by over hearing my parents talk about it once. She wasn't excited about it at all and I think it still upsets her to talk about it this day, almost thirty years later.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Not to pick a fight here, but how is discussing genderbending disrespectful to the pairing? I understand if such things squick you due to religious reasons, but not everyone in this thread feels the same way. Before you tell us to be respectful of the topic, you need to show respect to your fellow posters. Some of us like yaoi, yuri, or gender ambiguity. Some of us may be homosexual.
Anywho, I believe that Pearl finding out that Phoenix chose Iris over Maya would be the cause of some angst. I don't believe that she'd go for it immediately, but I do believe that if she became convinced that Maya was okay with it, she'd accept it, too. Pearl's also pretty young, so I think she'd learn to accept Iris as her big sister. This is not to say that Iris would replace Maya, but I don't think there's any reason why Iris and Pearl couldn't develop a strong bond.
And if Iris and Phoenix marry, Nick would officially be Pearl's brother-in-law. And Trucy and Pearl would be cousins. :D

Pearl is still a child, and, let's face it, she isn't the most mature girl you've ever seen in a game. She's still got her whole life ahead of herself, and I think that she'll eventually accept Phoenix choosing Iris over Maya, as she matures. When she does, she'll realize (if she really cares about Nick) that his happiness should be hers, as well.

Perhaps we should move this to the debate thread but all I'm looking for is confermation on whether Phoenix has a lovelife or just close friend contact. A shipping is a lovelife. Phoenix can say, he doesn't have to reveal on screen who's his girlfriend, just he's in a relationship. I think that would be the best idea for GS5 regarding this matter.
Personally I'm losing my love for this pairing myself.
